I don't see any funny or general insults of Louis or Burr get downvoted. I see some people just being fucking retarded about it and thats why I think they get downvoted. I was trashing louie and his new show the other day and it wasnt completely hated.
That's a really good question. Like many, I started on O&A with Louis CK, then Patrice, etc. And it took a while for me to figure out Opie was shit because he was surrounded with that talent that took over the show. A smart host could've totally hid in the background, introduced the show, and gone unhated. He just couldn't help himself.
I started listening to Opie and Anthony when I was 13 years old, went about 3 years before I realized that Opie just wasn't funny, or even added anything to the conversation. The reason for the sudden realization was because of comments on YouTube trashing Opie. Before then I never even thought of pitting the two against each other talent wise. So a lot of the hate is because of the internet, thought not unwarranted. He does suck. Although I did enjoy Opie more while I was stoned. I think I just wanted to write a paragraph just now.
