The malignant momentum against Schumer has nothing to do with joke stealing or justice and everything to do with hate and attempted annihilation being carried out by frightened, angry, faceless cowards. They are using her vulnerability and her personality as a portal in an attempted verbal and online gang rape of her career. She is being attacked by an army of unfuckable hate nerds who want to destroy her pride, humanity, career and sense of self. It is so clear if you look where this is coming from who these men are. They are ever-present in the history of this country and this is how they hurt people now. They are afraid of change and feel that their way of life is slipping away from them.
maron used to be an unfuckable hate nerd, but now that he's famous, he's just a fuckable hate nerd.
i'll go back and listen to his mencia podcast to hear where he calls mencia's haters unfuckable hate nerds... or maybe he says it during the robin williams one (RIP).
Why don't any of you ever mention how Amy was opening for those comics when they were doing that material? That eliminates anyones argument of parallel thinking
Sorry for hijacking your comment, thought people here would like to know. The mod is obviously full of shit since 1.) The video was at the top of /r/videos before the supposed "brigade" happened and 2.) Mods have no way to see who voted on anything, and there's no brigading without voting (talking about submissions isn't brigading).
I would also include the fact Kathleen Madigan was the auditions judge on the season Amy Schumer was on Last Comic Standing. Also Amy saying she opened for Tammy.
You could maybe add annotations on YouTube, like during the Madigan segment, stating something like "Amy opened for Madigan in 2008" or whenever it was.
Not as far as I know, no. Mobile version of their website maybe but not the apps. But at least the info would be there. Anyone on desktop would see it.
Without the tweets, I'd have to stop it dead for 15 seconds so people can read something that is basically hearsay without some kind of corroboration from Tammy, or some kind of other source.
I don't think she's opened for them in the last 5 years, so what's the likelihood of that being online?
There is stuff online, when I saw that I looked up when Amy started headlining and old ads for Magians gigs and it advertised Amy schumer as one of the comics. I'm just saying if people really want to look into it there is evidence they can find if they look but a lot of people will watch that and just go "oh the jokes are so basic any comic might come up with that" but if you just have some words at the bottom during the bits then people who cared would have to try and disprove that and they can't.
I think it actually shows that she didn't just get vague premises from other comedians, but entire joke structures. There's a big difference between the two.
The underwear bit is completely different, and Jenny Slate's is from a movie that Amy 100% saw and no comedian on earth would be stupid enough to steal from. There's like 3 minutes of standup in the whole thing and that's the only bit of note.
Everyone knows this whole campaign is nonsense, and it's starting to shit up valuable podcast time with people talking about it. I hope it backfires and someone makes a similar video of Patrice or Louis CK with the same level of "damning" evidence. I guarantee you could make that video with anyone who has more than 3 hours of material online.
No, it's a conspiracy to hurt the career of a popular unattractive person. Comedy podcast episodes being ruined with boring conversations about it is the first unwanted side effect. There will be more if this keeps going.
Nobody involved actually gives a shit if she stole bits, except MAYBE the people she stole from. The folks here just want to jerk off when their crusade makes it to the top of r/videos because that validates them or something. I wonder if it's the same feeling of importance that a meter maid gets when they ticket an expensive car.
This subreddit got bored when the well of "Opie Sucks" jokes ran dry and started doing drive-by social media assassinations on whoever looked at them crossways that week. Kind of like SJW but with destruction being the goal rather than a means.
Can't we just go back to talking about opie's breasts and how the show was great in 2008?
To your first question, I am mostly a lurker. I've posted a few times but I have checked this sub every day since around the time Ant was fired, and used it as a "jesus christ opie sucks" support group.
Since most of us have made the sane decision to stop listening to O&J, I guess there's not much left to do other than manufacture drama. Maybe this sub has passed me by.
For your second question, why are you asking me if you've seen me before?
I'm not defending her or attacking the detractors. She's bad at standup and may have stolen jokes. I'm saying I believe the people who are behind this are more interested in stirring shit than delivering justice.
If amy wasn't an anti-gun fat pig do you really think this would be a thing?
After suffering through Big Jay's stuttering opinion on the subject, I'm more inclined to agree with him and call it "hacks being hack" rather than theft. None of the jokes in question are "it's a small world.. but i wouldn't want to paint it" type of original. I'm not surprised she does low hanging fruit jokes that have been done before because she's a bad comedian. If anything her problem is not having someone check if bits/sketches have been done already before putting them out.
Amy has been big enough now that she doesn't need to steal jokes, she can buy them. If Luis J Gomez can afford Zac Amico, Amy can afford any of the million joke for hire folks out there. I'd almost guarantee she has.
It's all silly beans and will mean nothing in the end, PERIOD.
I honestly don't understand how, having watched the latest compilation, you could arrive at the conclusion that she did anything other than intentionally steal. As in she saw it, reworded it and passed it off as her own. Intentionally. And the only political shit that offends me about her is how she's handling this accusation right now.
It's a hard question to me. She's an idiot either way. Either she stole mediocre jokes from sources that are readily available on the internet and was dumb enough to think she could get away with it.
OR
She came up with mediocre jokes and was dumb enough to never check if they had been done before.
Amending my previous claim, I believe this comparison could be done with any non-great comedian, or any great comedian's first 5 years of work. I absolutely think parallel thought COULD get you to "i like the guy to pay... for sex" and the magician thing and the patrice thing and etc. I also think she COULD have stolen. I'm not her, thankfully, so I don't know for sure.
Edit: My point is that I don't believe the people trying to make this a thing really care about the integrity of the art form of comedy. The starter of this thread is named "MischiefMakersProd" for pete's sake.
I just watched it, great job, but you missed the eddie pepitome jerking off to hockey fights joke, the whitney cummings joke, the college humor 2 girls 2 cup sketch, the sarah silverman pennies joke, the curb your enthusiasm cancer joke, the "I finally slept with my high school crush. Now he expects me to go to his graduation" joke from Cutting that Jeselnik told on Shakespeare.
I watched the Whitney Cummings joke, it wasn't that similar.
The College Humor 2 girls 1 cup joke needed too much context.
I couldn't find the Sarah Silverman one and I wasn't sent it.
Curb Your Enthusiasm, I couldn't find that one either. There is a Seinfeld episode similar to the premise of Amy's sketch, but not close enough that it would be a compelling example.
Excellent job. The more concise and clear, the better. When it starts getting vague and iffy, it loses the effect it's intended to do. This video is just a barrage of punches.
I applaud this. The split screen to keep the connections fresh in the mind was genius. I also hadn't even seen that first clip, the MadTV one...seriously, it might be the most brazen of them all. I have absolutely zero respect for anyone who watches this and maintains the opinion she's not a pathological joke thief.
If you tweet it to people like Milo Yiannopolous (@Nero) or conservative journalists I'm sure you'll get a lot of retweets and hopefully some articles about it.
This is incredibly damning.
Seriously, this is worse than anything that was presented about Mencia. Rogan nailed Mencia for doing Levy's 'Licking ass is like putting your tongue on a battery' bit, and it was definitely something Bob used a lot. Suggestions of things like that were good enough for them then.
But this....this is a fucking body of work in hard evidence, and they all still deny it.
So I guess it comes down to this. If they all want to continue to defend Amy, they need to apologize to Mencia.
Wow, that was a rabbit hole. Seems she had a internal hemi-pelvectomy, likely from a bone tumor.
I didn't even look at how many views it has, but I'm guessing medical fetishists have latched onto it, as she seems otherwise shapely. But now I'm offering definitive opinions on things I know nothing about, like a washed up radio host.
Actually I skimmed some comments myself and found that she said her condition is the result of a "self inflicted accident" and she used that phrasing more than once. It doesn't really make sense unless she means she attempted suicide by jumping off something but she survived. If it was just something inane like crashing her car, self-inflicted accident is a fucking weird way to put it. Anyway, fuck that guy for linking this, christ on a cracker
From the comments of another vid posted by that user:
all she told me was that she was doing some sexually kinky stuff and something broke inside her vagina. Some of the sharper broken pieces severed blood vessels and nerves. That led to a pretty severe infection in her pelvic area and that caused some damage to her left hip, requiring it to be internally amputated
By the way, on an episode of Lockup I saw once, a lady who was obviously psychotic and lying about everything's answer to everything was "ok...give me a fuckin lie detector then, I bet I'll pass it" in the exact same way she did here.
I know from experience, the biggest liar I've ever known wouldn't say that specifically, (although I'm sure he said it at some point), but he would say things along those lines.
Where it's a challenge to the other person that is impossible to really follow through on.
Exactly. Lie detectors aren't 100% and they know that. And there are articles online about how to decieve lie detectors that they are basically unknowingly showcasing that theyve read.
It's not even about that; it's about the fact that nobody has a lie detector handy to take her up on her offer, and anybody who would go to the trouble of hiring a lie detector guy can easily be dismissed as a "hater".
Conversely, Opie wouldn't dare/think to take her up on the offer, and neither would any of her defenders; they would consider it insulting to her, and she would shame them for asking before she'd take a lie detector test, even though it was her idea in the first place.
Unless she knew the fix was in, obviously.
It's a completely safe, hollow claim/offer, which is why she made it. She might as well have said "my dead grandmother would tell you I'm no thief.......if only she could! (sigh)"
But to be fair, even if she took one and passed I wouldn't believe the results, because I have eyes and ears.
She's obviously a thief, because there's so much thievery it would be virtually impossible for her not to have been made aware of previous "parallels", and anybody worth their comedic salt would have sent a loud, clear message through her camp to not "borrow" or "be inspired by" other people's ideas.
But that obviously didn't happen. So at the very least, she kept "allowing" it, which makes her, dare I say, guilty by association.
Also, given the massive amount of thievery, it's either a way of life within her "organization", or there's one guy/gal who's a complete kleptomaniac.
More than a lie detector, she needs to trot out a sacrificial lamb, and quick.
Jenny Slate's performance in "Obvious Child" has like a really nice flow to it,there's a certain elegance and charm to her whole demeanour , whereas Amy's performance seems so stunted and awful by comparison.
The funny thing is she'd probably pass a polygraph, she seems self absorbed enough to not realize where her "inspiration" for comedy had been coming from.
Easily passed. I passed one for employment with a sheriffs department. Denied past drug use and a few other....things
Edit: no butthole flexing, but my googling showed me it just monitored heart rates, breathing, maybe other shit (no butthole sensors though) so I just concentrated on maintaining my breathing at a steady rate, and kept unicorns and puppies in my head and answered with short answers. No elaborating
Basically all it measures is your nervousness based on changes in your heart rate. So as long as you know it's a bullshit test that doesn't actually "detect lies" you can lie right though it easy.
I'm blown away by how unfunny Amy is. Whether it's stealing or not, her delivery and timing make her bits so much worse than the originals. Half the time it seems like she doesn't know what her own punchline is supposed to be.
My only issue is that the similarities in the MadTv version was cut out a bit. Should have left in the "arms" from MadTv and "black eye" from Schumer's.
Everyone in the comments seems to be going with the blame it on the writer defense. Wasn't there a clip of her on Conan saying she wrote the sleep gym sketch?
SNIFF it's more than good enough. take the tips here if you're going to do a second one, I guess. but please dont do anything gay like taking this vid down because it isn't 'perfect' since that will dilute the message by reducing the numbas of overall hits
They're different episodes. That clip is from when he saw her do his bit last year. He talked about it again on his latest episode because people were asking about it again now given the new evidence.
Have you listened to it? He described it as a really shitty experience and gives her the benefit of the doubt. The recent episode is the "very Schumer-positive" one.
Yeah I know but still ultimately his feelings are that she didn't steal the joke so OP using his comments (regardless of his sentiments at the time) like this are using them out of context.
"you know me: I'm so like...........is this anyone's bit? Like, I have to come up with so much material: on my tv show, this movie, stand-up spe.....like, I'm, and I'm so careful. And none of these things had ever reached me"
You know when someone says something rings true? This is the opposite of that.
Her saying she's "so careful" is like Charlie Sheen saying he wore a rubber that one time. Her stand-up, tv show, and movie are literally riddled with other peoples' material.
And this quote is just about the Leibman/Madigan/Pescatelli tip of the iceberg!
"so careful"! Un-fucking-believable.
If there was anybody that would hold her chubby feet to the fire, if this world was a just one, she'd need to defend/explain/apologize for this defense.
i hope everyone sends this to jimmy (and i guess the retard opie too) I'd love to hear them listen to the full 11 mins of this on air and still try to defend Amy like faggots.
8 - i'm sorry this doesn't have anything to do with the video, but can someone explain this?? for whatever reason it was a related video What the fuck is it, and why the fuck does it have that many views.
There are only a few possible explanations for each of these examples:
Parallel thinking. Comedians are very culturally perceptive and often notice the same things about society and so tell jokes with their own take on the same premise.
Accidental theft. You think you're doing your own take on a premise, but your brain spits out something you heard someone else do and you forgot they did it. Remembering a good idea and a stroke of your own inspiration can feel very similar. It happens. Maron mentioned that once he accidentally did it on a late-night TV set (I think it was a Bill Hicks joke?) and felt terrible after he realized it later. Robin Williams was famous for accidentally spouting other people's lines during his cocaine fueled stream of consciousness improvisational rants. He apologized later and wrote checks to the originators. The jokes that come from people she's performed with seem very likely to be in this category. It's not cool, and you have to admit it and apologize later if you do it. But (from my vantage point way outside the comedy community) I don't get the sense that this is a capital offense.
Blatant, knowing theft. I'm sure this happens too. It's like plagiarism scandals among writers. Maybe the pressure to produce got to you, etc. But in today's age of youtube, and in the comedy community which has such strong norms against this, you have to be nuts to do this (which is why Mencia kind of seems nuts).
One of the above done by a member of the writing team. If this happened you can't reasonably expect Schumer to prevent this (how do you know if something's not original if you don't remember hearing it before), but you can expect her to try to figure out what happened, apologize if necessary, fire someone if necessary.
If you listen to Schumer's specials that were put out before she got this famous, it's clear that she's talented enough to come up with stuff without stealing. And she had a top-notch writing team for her show, so I doubt they were desperate enough to knowingly steal. But who knows? This definitely plants a seed in my mind, and she is now on thin ice.
Very nice work. Btw, ever notice that a go to defense for Amy's sycophants is that she is the "hardest working comic", that is "always studying" and "brings a notepad" and yes not only would these be indicative of any expert thief, but how about how remarkably ignorant she is to ALL the material of EVERY comic of her generation and most of all the ones in her immediate area. Because as a fan of comedy, and a listener to many comedians speaking of the business, the one thing I know for sure is that they are always oblivious to all the material of their closest peers.
Totally fits. Logically I mean.
In short: if she's such a hard working student, how is she completely ignorant to everything around her? It's one or the other, can't be both.
Great work but one gripe. You guys edited in the sleep gym clip from Conan that corroborates her story rather the slap chef clip that proves she lied on Jimmy's show. Showing that she lied will go a long way in proving that she is indeed guilty. Please fix this! Also, I'd take the Patrice bit out and include some of the newer stuff that cropped up. Everyone concerned with the matter is already aware of it and including it again can come across as reaching.
I rewatched the original and I explained it somewhat wrong. You guys omit the part where Conan states "slap chef" in the beginning when introducing the skit. In your compilation, she just talks about coming up with the idea. There's nothing that links the two together, it would be better to include the beginning part where Conan introduces the skit so everyone knows what they're discussing and can immediately identify that she lied.
I think the only problem is it sounds like she is talking about the "sleep gym" in the clip. She states
I was thinking why can't I be exercising by just standing here.
I just feel people might get the impression they were discussing the sleep gym bit which supports what she said on Jim's show. That extra second where Conan states it overtly explicitly shows that they were discussing "slap chef".
I would also include the fact Kathleen Madigan was the auditions judge on the season Amy Schumer was on Last Comic Standing. Also Amy saying she opened for Tammy.
I'm not defending her or attacking the detractors. She's bad at standup and may have stolen jokes. I'm saying I believe the people who are behind this are more interested in stirring shit than delivering justice.
If amy wasn't an anti-gun fat pig do you really think this would be a thing?

On Twitter, Amy just referred to everyone who calls her out on stealing jokes, "Unfuckable Hate Nerds".
So I guess if it's coming from her, sexist hate speech is a-okay.

5 MushtashWax 2016-01-27
I honestly don't understand how, having watched the latest compilation, you could arrive at the conclusion that she did anything other than intentionally steal. As in she saw it, reworded it and passed it off as her own. Intentionally. And the only political shit that offends me about her is how she's handling this accusation right now.
2 pj530i 2016-01-27
It's a hard question to me.

Amy Schumer
32 DianaKurlan10 2016-01-27
I just watched it, great job, but you missed the eddie pepitome jerking off to hockey fights joke, the whitney cummings joke, the college humor 2 girls 2 cup sketch, the sarah silverman pennies joke, the curb your enthusiasm cancer joke, the "I finally slept with my high school crush. Now he expects me to go to his graduation" joke from Cutting that Jeselnik told on Shakespeare.
Also no bald opie at the end is a mistake.
16 MischiefMakersProd 2016-01-27
I didn't know about the Eddie Peppitone one.
7 NicNacAttack 2016-01-27
I echo everything MischiefMakers said.
3 stinkskc 2016-01-27
The college humor one is the nail in the coffin. Can't believe how big this thing has gotten, it's even passed baldopie by
4 yeah_he_do 2016-01-27
You guys did great. I'm very partial to damn folks with their own words, maybe you include this in your next one?
3 Infamous_P_I_G 2016-01-27
Excellent job. The more concise and clear, the better. When it starts getting vague and iffy, it loses the effect it's intended to do. This video is just a barrage of punches.
3 Really_Big_Dummy 2016-01-27
what about bald opie?
2 Good2Go5280 2016-01-27

I applaud this. The split screen to keep the connections fresh in the mind was genius. I also hadn't even seen that first clip, the MadTV one...seriously, it might be the most brazen of them all. I have absolutely zero respect for anyone who watches this and maintains the opinion she's not a pathological joke thief.

3 jamesfromdelaware 2016-01-27
Mencia was pretty bad. There were a lot of clips of him stealing jokes. At this point though there's at least twice as many for Amy.
1 panasonictooth 2016-01-27
Yeah Mencia was way worse. Like whole 2 minute bits that were almost word for word.

What the fuck is it, and why the fuck does it have that many views.
4 yeah_he_do 2016-01-27
Wow, that was a rabbit hole.
2 MyKindOfLove 2016-01-27
Actually I skimmed some comments myself and found that she said her condition is the result of a "self inflicted accident" and she used that phrasing more than once. It doesn't really make sense unless she means she attempted suicide by jumping off something but she survived. If it was just something inane like crashing her car, self-inflicted accident is a fucking weird way to put it. Anyway, fuck that guy for linking this, christ on a cracker

By the way, on an episode of Lockup I saw once, a lady who was obviously psychotic and lying about everything's answer to everything was "ok...give me a fuckin lie detector then, I bet I'll pass it" in the exact same way she did here.
3 MischiefMakersProd 2016-01-27
I know from experience, the biggest liar I've ever known wouldn't say that specifically, (although I'm sure he said it at some point), but he would say things along those lines.
Where it's a challenge to the other person that is impossible to really follow through on.
3 sanfrancisco69er 2016-01-27
Exactly. Lie detectors aren't 100% and they know that. And there are articles online about how to decieve lie detectors that they are basically unknowingly showcasing that theyve read.
10 joomommyhappy 2016-01-27

Don't all you have to do to pass a polygraph is to flex your butthole at the right time?

Easily passed. I passed one for employment with a sheriffs department. Denied past drug use and a few other....things
Edit: no butthole flexing, but my googling showed me it just monitored heart rates, breathing, maybe other shit (no butthole sensors though) so I just concentrated on maintaining my breathing at a steady rate, and kept unicorns and puppies in my head and answered with short answers. No elaborating

2 cabaretcabaret 2016-01-27
They're different episodes. That clip is from when he saw her do his bit last year. He talked about it again on his latest episode because people were asking about it again now given the new evidence.

So...then still ultimately taken out of context?
1 cabaretcabaret 2016-01-27

You know when someone says something rings true? This is the opposite of that.
Her saying she's "so careful" is like Charlie Sheen saying he wore a rubber that one time. Her stand-up, tv show, and movie are literally riddled with other peoples' material.
And this quote is just about the Leibman/Madigan/Pescatelli tip of the iceberg!
"so careful"! Un-fucking-believable.
If there was anybody that would hold her chubby feet to the fire, if this world was a just one, she'd need to defend/explain/apologize for this defense.

1 BlackHiert 2016-01-27
That's pretty disgraceful, Tammy seems like such a nice person though from the clips played I feel bad that she had her material stolen.
1 nolasen 2016-01-27
0 Fat_People_Hydra 2016-01-27
Great work but one gripe. You guys edited in the sleep gym clip from Conan that corroborates her story rather the slap chef clip that proves she lied on Jimmy's show. Showing that she lied will go a long way in proving that she is indeed guilty. Please fix this! Also, I'd take the Patrice bit out and include some of the newer stuff that cropped up. Everyone concerned with the matter is already aware of it and including it again can come across as reaching.
4 MyKindOfLove 2016-01-27

3 Fat_People_Hydra 2016-01-27
I rewatched the original and I explained it somewhat wrong. You guys omit the part where Conan states "slap chef" in the beginning when introducing the skit. In your compilation, she just talks about coming up with the idea. There's nothing that links the two together, it would be better to include the beginning part where Conan introduces the skit so everyone knows what they're discussing and can immediately identify that she lied.

I think the only problem is it sounds like she is talking about the "sleep gym" in the clip. She states
I just feel people might get the impression they were discussing the sleep gym bit which supports what she said on Jim's show. That extra second where Conan states it overtly explicitly shows that they were discussing "slap chef".

That doesn't mean that Amy didn't open for them, anybody can look up show advertisements/ show reviews from back then and see Amy was the opener.

I would also include the fact Kathleen Madigan was the auditions judge on the season Amy Schumer was on Last Comic Standing. Also Amy saying she opened for Tammy.

Prob not a good idea. 20 years ago men paid me to see them, now they'd pay to have me put my clothing back on.

No, just found it odd that once Schumer is called into question a bunch of new names pop up defending her/attacking her detractors.
-4 pj530i 2016-01-27
I'm not defending her or attacking the detractors.
