She reminded me a lot of Mencia on Maron when she was talking to Jim. Mencia kept responded to Maron by saying shit like "Why would I steal and make it that obvious? That'd just be dumb. I'd be an idiot to do that. Why would I steal a Bill Cosby bit and think I could get away with putting in my special that'd just be dumb"
Amy sounded exactly like that on Jim's show.

If she didn't steal Patrice's joke then why is she padding her HBO special with common jokes you would hear on an open mic night, instead of writing her own original content.

She said it herself, because the jokes kill. She was actually on Jim's show pretty much explaining how she does hacky jokes because hacks always kill and the fucking worm sat there the whole time backing her up and didn't say anything about it.

It doesn't matter if they kill. HBO specials are to showcase a comedians talent. If you're just regurgitating common jokes you've heard before you are basically wasting an opportunity that other comics who write their own stuff would kill for.

Right. The problem is most people who watch comedy don't even know what hack or common comedy is. To the general public the hacky corny comedy is the best comedy.
