Political beliefs are low on the scale if I like someone or not--especially if they're an entertainer and make me laugh.

Patton openly criticises the far left (he's literally used the phrase "SJW extremists" to describe them on social media) and would happily sit down with someone like Ant. He seems a lot more reasonable than most who define themselves by their political leaning, whether that is the red team OR the blue team.

How dare you try and shape this person's worldview into a non-black and white narrative.

He did a year ago, and I was impressed. He's regressed big time lately. I think he had a tweet that was "PC is literally not ruining anything you babies". But in general, I like Patton. He's funny, and the best Dave Attell tribute act I've ever seen.

In April he did a 53-part tweet openly mocking PC culture - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/patton-oswalt-defends-trevor-noah-785776
The tweet you referenced is probably from October: "PC culture is, at its worst, annoying. And easily swatted away. It isn't destroying anything. Ben. Holy shit, dude. #GOPDebate" (I totally agree he underestimates the power of PC bullshit, but I also kinda like that he belittles it)
In december he said: "The first time I ever heard someone sling the term "beta male" it was love at first sight. I understood instantly the desperation that caused them to use the term. An "alpha" male is the one who gets all the power, pussy and prestige. Whose name lives on. Who carves a legacy into the indifferent rock of history.
Right?
So now MRA extremists use "beta" to classify any male who isn't down with their program. And SJW extremists point to MRA extremists USING "beta male" as a sign that said utterer is secretly terrified that HE is a beta. And the snake can no longer eat its tail because the tail is now eating the head.
Hilarious.
I read a lot of comic books. An SJW might say I enjoy them because they're a male-centric Anglo power fantasy. An MRA would say I'm a "beta male" pussy who has to live vicariously through drawings of muscle-covered alphas."
I don't think he's gone off the deep end. Speculatively.

Yeah, this is the one I was talking about. I don't think he's gone off the deep end, but I do dislike the ethos behind this. Leftists tend to whine about art being harmed by political correctness & say that because they are coming from a politically pure heart, they have the right to say just about anything. And when they hear a conservative complain about political correctness it's that the conservatives are harming people & can't the handle backlash from said harm. Or they'll just deny that PC even exists. I just find this tweet to be wormy & politically advantageous to him.

I like him

Does being a leftist make him an asshole to you? Or is a leftist and an asshole?
Also, do you really think Trump is a conservative and not just a fame whore? Check his voting record--lifelong Democrat.

I do

patton is hilarious

He might be leftist overall, but I think the best comedians tend to be more anti-stupidity than merely leftist.

Patton is fucking hilarious. Just rewatched Big Fan. He's great in that movie.

I'm a leftist asshole and I hate him. He's not funny, preachy, and fucking ugly.
1 heslaotian 2016-01-20
Is wanting to fuck a comic a prerequisite for you liking them?
1 charliemccarthy 2016-01-20
I hate Amy Schumer, too, so; yes.
2 _TheConsumer_ 2016-01-20
Love his stand up, hate his politics.
I give him a pass because he doesn't make his stand up revolve around his politics.
That said, I stopped following him on Twitter. He's way too political on there and I didn't want to end up hating him.

I like some of his old comedy specials. He's pretty decent on the radio. Probably wouldn't get along with him in person.
1 homerj123 2016-01-20
To be honest, I didn't know he has been actively working but I did like him back in the day. So I don't follow him at all.

Patton Oswalt is good at playing retards. It's not really acting for him.
1 DanielRigg 2016-01-20
I think he's entertaining when he's acting. He was great on Justified. Not really a fan as a comic though. His netflix special was so so.
I really don't really enjoy comedians or any performer (like Sean Penn) who wear their politics on their sleeve and make remarks/jokes that are meant to be condescending to the people who don't agree with them politically. Also don't enjoy people whose entire gimmick is that they are a fanboy of everything. You're in love with every goofy nerd phenomenon. He's like another Chris Hardwick.
I just found out the other day that his wife is a true crimer writer. Such a weird combination.
1 Anarox 2016-01-20
Chris Hardwick is faking the whole nerd thing right? I can't stand his face. I tried the nerdist podcast, can't do more than 3 min
1 DanielRigg 2016-01-20
I think he can do some good interviews. He did a really funny interview with Michael Shannon a couple months ago. If he doesn't have a good guest on or its just him and his co-hosts talking about their weekend then I can't listen to it.
I have no idea what Hardwick is actually like. But I don't think he's genuine in his nerd personality. I feel like he's just playing a character and taking advantage of a niche culture and exploiting it. Smart in a way. He's basically a professional hype man for the studios under the guise of fandom. Its why he is doing like 15 panels at comic con. He won't rock the boat and is a safe pick. That's what it all comes down to. But like I said, I don't know him and his personality kind of turns me off. But despite that I do enjoy some of his interviews.

Trump promises more money to Israel
Hollywood gets on board
But keep dreaming of Trump, a change you can belive in right?
1 RockCoatMon 2016-01-20
Really like his bit on how religion is cake.
He also voiced the lead for the Telltale Minecraft game surprisingly well, which is faggoty yes i'm aware.
1 Nulltor 2016-01-20
I just listened to his O&A stuff the other day, he was funny as fuck. Also his specials were amazing. Also I dont really give a fuck how he votes. Also go fuck your mother.
0 Put_some_earl_on_it 2016-01-20
And I can't wait for Trump to win and reveal that he's been trolling you conservative fags and is now going to govern the country from the far left. It's more likely than you think.
