Get well soon, Dr. Steve!
438 2016-01-19 by AcePainterLo
Dr. Steve called in to Opie today and apparently he's got some kind of medical issue. He said he slurs and stumbles like a drunk and has even fallen in the shower. His fingers are numb and they aren't positive about what's up.
He's one of the best guys from the show and is always cool about dealing with the bullshit associated with it. I wish him a speedy recovery. Get well soon, Doc!

I have no particular medical expertise, but have they tapped his knee with a tiny mallet?

They did, it leaked fluuuuuuuuuuuuuuid
8 TobyTheRobot 2016-01-19
Fluid n' a MASSSSSSS... And TISUEEeee.
Seriously Dr. Steve's just a good dude. Hope he gets better soon.

Dr. Steve is a good man, always trying to help out.
20 TriangleDimes 2016-01-19
He's probably the only one in the world who would fake an attempt to save the people of this sub caught in a gas chamber by jangling the keys around and purposefully mixing them up
11 Ojisan1 2016-01-19
Dr. Steve is a really good guy, helped me out via email, he was generous with his time and expertise, and there was nothing for him to gain from it except my thanks.
Thanks /u/drsteve103

Shit, better call Dr Steve and see if he knows what it is.
78 Patmcpsu 2016-01-19
All of his symptoms are consistent with severe boredom, likely contracted from the O&J show.
24 Joshua_Goodnaturedly 2016-01-19
Unfortunately, there's still no cure.
14 Menthol_Moose 2016-01-19
I found a cure... listening to episodes of O&A from 2009 - 2012
12 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2016-01-19
No, that's just hospice care. Thoughts and prayers.
52 helobious1 2016-01-19
Dr. Steve is proof that you can be an O&A fan and not be a terrible person. Hope he gets better.
41 Patrick_Kane 2016-01-19
I called Dr Steve once when I was having an issue with reflux. He texted me back to tell me what to do and then again later to follow up and ask how I was doing. Nicest guy. Hope it's nothing serious.
3 KuukerinNelli 2016-01-19
You'd think the Blackhawks had top notch medical team but guess not
9 Patrick_Kane 2016-01-19
They do. I just needed a second opinion. Dr. Steve told me I needed to change my diet. He said, "You gotta stop eatin' so much pussy, Chippah!"

Guys like Dr Steve and Denny are why I still listen to the show, its kind of cool hearing an obviously experienced professional talk about what they're doing with an occasional AIDS joke.
16 shmigshmog 2016-01-19
Bust your ass, go to med school, bust your ass, become a doctor, bust your ass, practice medicine, end up next to a large ungulate on the U.S.S. WaterBuffaler.
14 Dagidugidai 2016-01-19
It's opiate withdrawal. The people at the hospice finally caught on to his painkiller stealing, shooting up in the stairwell ways.
In all seriousness though, hope he's alright.

Dr. Steve is a kind person, I hate that this is happening to him.
Hope the diagnosis is better than predicted here.
14 BoDi_Falcone 2016-01-19
Dr. Steve always helps out people on the show, especially Lady Di, he is a very kind man. Hope he gets well soon.
10 SiriusXMLawyer007 2016-01-19
Sounds like ALS
16 ellasmitherson 2016-01-19
More likely Multiple sclerosis. ALS is extremely rare, despite all the attention it gets.
11 callmesnake13 2016-01-19
I seem to remember him saying that he had an operation on his eye because his vision was slowly degenerating, which I think is also a possible symptom of MS.
1 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2016-01-19
Yeah, but that vision loss is from scarring of the optic nerve - I don't think an operation would correct that.
3 callmesnake13 2016-01-19
It could also be due to a gross accumulation of ocular fluids
6 TanksForNothing 2016-01-19
I was recently diagnosed with MS. Numbness in my hands, feet and legs. Occasional stumbling. Hope he's alright.
3 ptb4life 2016-01-19
MS is fairly easy to confirm with MRIs of the brain and spine.
My uneducated guess is undiagnosed Lyme disease.
Hopefully he gets the treatment he needs more. Dr Steve really does seem like a great human.
1 Arctic_Drunkey 2016-01-19
Yep. Close friend of mine was just diagnosed at age 45 with MS. He had all of those symptoms. Luckily getting it while older is a lot more manageable. Best of Luck Dr Steve
1 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2016-01-19
Actually it's the other way around -- if you get it while you're young, it tends to be more manageable because you can get at it early with disease-modifying drugs. Primary-progressive MS has an onset of ~10 years later than relasping-remitting MS.

It really does. Although, I would imagine he's on the older end of the spectrum for an initial diagnosis.

Dr Steve is cool as fuck.
Hope he gets well soon.
7 Delicious_Apes 2016-01-19
I have annoyed Steve with medical questions on more than one occasion and he always helps me. Just throwing in my 2 cents that he's probably the nicest guy associated with O&A.
Let's all remember the time he decimated DeRosa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmapvkNs4c4

5 JuiceBusters 2016-01-19
wtf? just learned about this. Dr Steve is one of the best of the best and why:
Because every fan just idiotically antagonizes him with dumbuckery and yet HE STILL helps us. I mean seriously he helped me with something.
What a good man.
Holy hell he's suffering while Tits and Worm are living well with Gynomastits and AIDS. Anthony's worst consequence is cosmetic surgery that can only cancel itself out.
4 KingTutsstache 2016-01-19

Get well soon, Dr. Steve
I used to send him a lot of my medical issues on here and he helped a lot.
4 pfgposter 2016-01-19
For context, he sounded pretty confident that they had the issue itself solved (it sounds like an Ebola strain), and it appeared that, now that they had it pinpointed, they'd be able to figure it all out. Certainly hope that's the case; best wishes.

My grandfather had the exact same symptoms. It took several doctors a few months to figure out that he had prostate cancer that spread to his adrenal gland which somehow screwed up his cerebellum. I'm not doctor so perhaps this chain of events isn't even possible but that's how I understood it.

Humans are animals that operate on instinct.
Sincerely caring about Lady Di (someone outside of his social/familial in-group), is not an impulse that exists within human nature.
Boosting your social status by performing publicly altruistic deeds is absolutely an impulse that exists in human nature.
I hate Steve and I don't care if he dies.

I'm not studying any subject, even as an amateur. I just know this from being a human being and observing others. I can't help it that I have a higher level of psychological awareness than you and have more acute pattern recognition.
I'll take the compliment that I come across as educated, though.

Thanks /u/drsteve103
