Nobody really wanted Ant there to begin with. There was no groundswell of support from the comics to "let Ant back" but there were a few people (like Opie and most likely Bill, himself) who probably would have preferred he didn't come for the sake of having a smooth event without added drama. In spite of that, Bill invited Ant. Then Ant gets charged with strangling Vinnie Brand's daughter so anyone with half a brain would uninvite the guy. Fuckin Jimmy even refuses to be seen publicly with him. Burr has to protect the comics going and himself. Ant can throw his own benefit anytime he wants if this is just about Patrice to him. It is not.
Pretty sure Ant's downward spiral is to blame. While I do agree it sucks what is happening to him, if you don't give a cunt a reason to be a cunt to you, they won't be a cunt to you.
Regardless of how annoying she comes across on podcasts, I can't really see an adult involving herself like that with her husband's event for his dead friend, with dozens to hundreds of people there who were either close with or enormous admirers of the deceased. To be that presumptive and disrespectful you'd have to be a raging cunt on the level of Fredo's wife. Since she's not medically retarded I'm sure she knows it's a hugely personal deal to Bill. Since he's been in LA for what, 10 years? she probably only barely knew him, as opposed to all those people who saw him all the time because they lived in the NY area. I just don't see her having the motivation it would take to cross a line like that.
I just think it's way, way more likely to have come from someone who was routinely involved with:

Vinny and the Stress Factory
...than someone who has little if anything to do with any of it. When does she even have an opinion about any of those people on the podcast? She's always babbling about some other LA horseshit, like she doesn't care or even know. 10 years of trying to break into Hollywood 3000 miles away from it all, yeah like I said I don't see it.
I really think it's just Bill avoiding bad publicity. He's always been a very safe guy in those terms and I was amazed that Anthony was invited to begin with. I totally get why he isn't now, even though I'm sure Patrice would have wanted him there

No. I think there are comics that didn't want him there, and that it's more about Vinnie/Dani than anything else.
Of course he will protect his wife, but he would also protect his close comedian friends from assholes on the internet. It seems most likely to me.
