I question that whole story. Opie probably saw Artie, Artie said Hi and Opie said Hi back and then ran away. He then made up the dramatic story of what he would have done if he had any balls so he had a great lie to tell on the air.
Exactly what happened with Carolla. Carolla was just being himself and joking in a dry manner, and instead of Oqie rolling with it and joking back, 100% he took it the wrong way and not only stewed about it, but brought it up years later, repeatedly.

If memory serves it was during the Baba Booey throwing out the first pitch at a Mets game. Someone made a joke about Gary throwing it down the hall and then Artie said something to the effect of throw down to Opie and Anthony no one would hear it on air. Or something like that. Then Opie got into it with Artie in the bathroom.
If Howard really went back at O&A after what they say, maybe I'd understand. But now he's become even more embarrassing because he got exposed to who now are both pathetic as he is.
