How come when Opie reads a Wikipedia article or a paragraph about something, he says that he studied it? Or that he studies people?

I HATE more than anything when he says he studies people. They'll will be talking about how somebody looked uncomfortable during a clip or something, and he will say how he studies people and that person is blah blah right now. Sorry, Opie, but you have the worse judgement with reading people I have ever seen. I don't know why he continues to do this.

Whenever a topic gets brought up that Opie has minimal knowledge about(like a crab he was going to get his son) he says he studied it. Does he thinks that it makes him sound smarter so that everyone in the studio, and the listeners, should listen to him as the go to in the conversation? I mean seriously, all you did was read about it and got the basic facts, then you tell everyone you studied it? So fucking lame.

Sorry if I am spamming this board with consecutive posts, but I just found this sub recently and didn't know people get annoyed as much as me while listening to the show.

Normal people study difficult topics. For Opie, everything is difficult so to him it's studying, to us it's reading a tweet.

He goes deep.

Because he's an idiot.

It's what stupid do to try to sound smart

Ugh, I hate it too. Like that one intern in 2012 who was going to have that pool party and like they interrogated him for a long time and were catching him in lies, and Opie had to CONSTANTLY let everyone know that "something's up with this kid" cause "I can read people". EVERYONE KNOWS, STUPID. That's why literally everyone is asking him questions. Quit pretending your this calculating mastermind who can read a room. You're a stupid, unfunny, talentless burden to the show.

Or the "people watching" horseshit. Quit trying to be deep. You're not. Fuck off.

Totally. Also, whenever he reads a book he goes to great lengths to bring it up on air multiple times, like an elementary schooler. I wouldn't be surprised if he's mentioned every book he's read over the last 20 years.

he hangs with brew masters, mahn

Studying people is probably part of his therapy to help him adapt.
