The Opester's Shitty Memory
3 2016-01-10 by silks322
Listening to Opie lately I've noticed that his memory is absolutely terrible. I'm sure it's just more noticeable now that he's left to fend for himself more. How often do you hear him say "I forget the name of that song..." "What's the singer's name again...?" "I think we had him on the show once..." "Uhhhh... FUUUCCCCCKKK... THANK YOU!"
I'm sure a lot of this forgetfulness is ignorance, but for somebody that hosts a talk raqio show, the fact that he has ZERO ability to contribute anything meaningful to a conversation about anything, as well as having the vocabulary of a fifth grader is staggering.
Case in point on Friday's show, the band Living Colour was mentioned. Opie said, "the singer, Corey uhhh... umm... what's his name... (Henley interjects "Glover")... Yeah, Glover... who I met several times..." You work in raqio, supposedly love music, have met the guy several times (probably a lie) and you can't remember his name?

its tough to tell if its legit. he always played that 'i'm too cool to remember obvious shit' role. "what's the name of the band? radioskull, radiocranium... oh yeah... thanks Sam... radiohead!" sniff

he would do that same shit even about guests that were coming sometimes the very day. like "uh who do we got coming in again?"

Opie couldn't remember the name of the club Jim was at in Birmingham. Henley told him. They went to a break. When they came back Opie went to plug it again, and couldn't remember the club name.
I think most of the time he can't remember guests' names is because he has no idea who they are... and why do show prep?

He's faking it. He tries way too hard at times to be the cool guy and do 'cool guy shit'
"I guess people are mad on Twitter?"
-Like he can't be bothered to know even though the fucking idiot checks his social media like a 14 year old girl all hours of the fucking day
"So I guess people are calling me Greggshells? Doesn't bother me in the least"
The list goes on and on. He's just the worst

Sometimes. But he's also a complete dummy and he lies all the time. He's not smart enough to keep his lies straight so has to try to recall what he said last time and his pea brain just stumbles through.

Exactly. He goes deep with the lies to try to boost his coolness... the lines between what is true and what is not are probably so blurred that he doesn't remember what is real

It's heartbreaking to watch someone slowly succumb to dementia. Best to just make sure he's comfortable, make him a cup of tea every now and then, and let him play his little radio game.
