Did you guys see Star Wars and did you enjoy it? Opie and Jimmy didn't care for it.

Opie and Jim have horrible movie taste. Jimmy just rags on every new movie that isn't filled with fucks, cunts, and people getting killed bu-rutally. Add mobsters of any kind to the list.

Who knows what Opie enjoys. Opie doesn't even know what he likes.

People like Travis and Erock (the guys that people like) loved Star Wars and enjoy a lot of the popular movies and TV shows.

Maybe that's part of the reason that Trav and Erock are much more likable. They aren't completely cynical and jaded to the point where every movie and TV show just fuckin stinks.

You really think not liking the new Star Wars is a sign of horrible movie taste? If you were unfamiliar with the whole Star Wars universe would you actually think it's a fantastic well written movie? Not saying the show has great taste in movies but you're acting as is Star Wars is the greatest of all time.

No it's not star wars alone. I included "popular movies and tv shows." Jimmy has taste in movies like he does in music. He's gonna quote gangster movies and walk in front of your house with a boombox playing Iron Man on repeat.

I said they didn't, but you posted this because you like Star Wars and they didn't.

Seen it 7 times now, its not perfect but its perfect at doing what it was suppose to do; catch us up on the old characters, introduce new characters, set up the next movie and stir up a wave of nostalgia that future movies in the Star Wars universe can ride on.

The real test will be Rogue One; can a Star Movie with little connection to rest of the series do well?

I'm getting the book tomorrow just to see what was cut out of the movie and from what I am hearing they may have cut too much out based on some people that got the book early.

There are a few things I hoped for, like Rey and Fin bringing up some EU stories to Han and him saying they never happened... it would have been a nod that the stories were out there buy may have been myth.

I don't think there was enough development of some of the First Order characters. There should have been some time spent on the New Republic, there is suppose to be some explanation of it in the book so it was cut.

I know some people feel it copies the other movies, But in all reality similarities can be found in 1,4 and now 7... the first of each trilogy have a similar story... I'm OK with that.

Some things that struct me after a few watches (spoilers, stop reading if you haven't seen it):

  1. The awaking really happened when Kylo was trying to read Reys mind. It was as if she had a Jedi Memory Rub used on her and he broke open the door that allowed her previous training to rush back.

  2. At the end, Luke look remorseful more than anything else and Rey look demanding. It was as if she was making him take his place as a leader again and as if he knew who she was.

  3. I think Luke knows Rey and that he trained her at one point. If she is his daughter, niece (he would have memory rubbed Ben/Kylo, Han and Leia) or just a student he saved is hard to say.

  4. Chewie's lack of interaction with Leia when they returned to the base bothered me after what just happened.

  5. The gang scene was unnecessary and the CGI during it was of a lesser quality than the rest of the movie. There were a couple of good moments in that scene so overall I'm OK they decided to leave it in but it did not advance the movie at all.

  6. Kylo is not Darth Vader... yet. He is Anakin in Episode 2 without someone there to help him control his temper.

  7. Some things the book is suppose to show is that Kylo was weak and struggling after he did what he did earlier; he was disturbed by his actions and it make him weak. At the end it was Rey who was struggling to not join the dark side more so than Kylo ever did.

That's a solid theory. I thought something along those lines and my bro, me, and a friend who are big in star wars think the same thing. I think Luke has a connection with Rey and she had been trained then mind wiped and hidden on that planet to protect her.

They wanted to hit on the nostalgia, get the new crowd excited, pass the torch from the old cast to the new, and set the new stage. The movie nailed all of those goals.

I didn't like the Han Solo freighter and the Gangsters either. There was probably much better ways to show the unfamiliar viewers that Han Solo is a good guy, badass, scoundrel. In the original it was just that short scene where he shot greedo. They should have done something more like that and less with the focus on monster aliens.

After my 3rd viewing I saw the the Gangster scene as a way to show Solo was still a bit of a fuck up when it came to business.

The things that made me "forgive" this part of the movie was the comedy of Chewie reacting to the allegations against Han and questioning if Han could talk his way out of trouble. Rey's reaction to the off screen massacre was a bit cute, it showed that she was not exposed to anything.

It was short enough and easily forgotten. But I found myself sighing at some of the prequel scenes during the marathon on opening day and was doing the same at this scene after a few views.

Something else I forgot to mention, in Rey's flash back as a child. That hand holding her back as the ship took off looked suspiciously like it belonged to the guy that ran the junk yard, as if he was looking over her. It then made me question if he was trying to get BB-8 away from her to protect her.

Oh shit, that guy that was giving out the rations for scraps was actually watching over her. That's interesting. I gotta go see it again with these things in mind.

I think the book says something that Snoke told Rey to kill Kylo and that her being on the cliff was a metaphor for being on the cliff of to kill Kylo or not. So, in essence, Han was right where he said Snoke will use you then just kill you off. Basically, Kylo is the Dark Jedi du jour and now that Rey has awakened her force, Snoke might go after her because she is more powerful, and Ep. Vll will be interesting to see where those characters arc to. Will Kylo realize he's Rathar Poop and try to redeem himself or will Rey fall to Snoke and the tides are turned? I think Leia will have something to do with Kylo redeeming himself, since she can still feel that he has light in him. He has to realize that just maybe he'll never be immune to the light, that it was his destiny to be good and that he just was coerced by Snokie Poo to be evil because he would look cool in a new mask and outfit

I didn't care for it...mostly for the reasons most of you have probably read over and over again at this point.

What I don't understand is why Disney, Abrams, hell even Lucas keep calling this movie "for the fans". This movie isn't for hardcore Star Wars fans AT ALL. It rips the Extended Universe to shreds and has plot holes so big that any true SW fan sees how off-the-mark the movie truly is. It's not "for the fans"...it's for the millions of extremely CASUAL Star Wars fans and others who just want to pretend they're "Star Wars geeks".

It's like Ronnie B said: Folks will go to see the new Star Wars and pretend to love it for a week, then they'll all eventually admit it sucked. Happened with the Prequels, happens with a ton of newfangled motion pictures, what do I know.

Ronnie B is the man.

Visually stunning but the script reads like sub par fan fiction.

the script reads like sub par fan fiction.

All of them do. The dialogue in the original 3 was mostly nonsense drek.

Gotta agree with them on this one. They made my favorite space opera into a joke so people who enjoy the Big Bang Theory can "nerd" out. The only good thing about Disney is that he was antisemitic.

"They made my favorite space opera into a joke so people who enjoy the Big Bang Theory can "nerd" out." - well done

It was okay. Parts of it were better than the prequels, parts of it weren't. It was less epic than any of the films before, a little more comical. It reminded me of guardians of the galaxy with the aliens and the scale. Maybe most annoying of all was that it was almost an exact rehashing of a new hope plot wise. But still there was some okay stuff in it. MEH its a shitty space adventure for kids. More of this popcorn sell toys shit that makes the studios millions and these fucking idiots that no nothing about movies rant and rave about how great it is (like most superhero films, mad max, etc). its a "family movie" so that they can make a fortune. Also I hate CGI. make it with models and I'd watch it (like the moon aesthetic) where you don't feel like your watching a cartoon...it has a grit (they did a bit of that). Plus there was a bunch of retarded shit like the storm trooper that doesn't have the force being able to spar for even a second with someone who is like a sith lord. And the fact that the girl just realized she had the force suddenly and was able to start using all these powers. Plus I thought the plot was way too coincidental. The odds of han and chewie finding the flacon and then finding leia all the way it did made the plot that much more ludicrous. Anyways i give it a 6 or even a 7 out of 10. i like the whole graveyard planet idea and the kylo ren voice.

Enough. With. The. Star. Wars. Be a grown man and watch The Revenant.

The Revenant was really fucking good. I endorse as well.

I can enjoy both.

They're both pretty similar. Visually incredible with paper thin plots.

Or Asghar Farhadi.

The Revenant was good, but way too fucking long. Birdman was better

i have it download but i think i want to watch it in theatres here. Another good movie that came out this winter was spotlight. I also really like Hateful Eight. I Thought it was Tarantino's best since Jackie Brown.

Fuck The Force Awakens- soulless remake of the original- lacking the most important element of the 77 classic- a sense of imagination.

I liked it, but you are not completely wrong either. It could have been better, but I will take it as it is, hoping that this one was just a setup to get it going in that direction. The real test will be when the next one comes out.

I enjoyed it. Wasn't great, but a lot better than I expected it to be. Looking more forward to Episode VIII since Rian Johnson has directed some great movies and isn't a fanboy like JJ. I feel like he will bring a much fresher direction to the series.

ME too, I have been following everything he does since Brick.

Star Wars was fucking awesome. Funnest movie I've seen in awhile.

Star Wars is supposed to be a good time at the movies. It's also a sci-fi movie, so when people shit on it, I have no idea what they thought they were going to see. The acting has always been shit in the Star Wars movies (but that's kind of what makes it work in some weird way). It didn't blow me away, but I did enjoy it. It's everything a Star Wars film is supposed to be. I like that they included all the things that were great about "New Hope" & "Empire" and combined those elements to reboot the franchise. They completely redeemed themselves from the awful prequels. Which is what most people were hoping for. Again.. what were they expecting? Well scripted dialogue and thought provoking drama? They're a couple of dipshits with ZERO original thoughts of their own when it comes to music and movies (as most people are).

Everyone in this thread whining about how the movie didn't follow the expanded universe right.

What is this the gay off 2016?

I'm surprised Tits didn't like it, since he has to raise Bam's kids now and that's exactly the kind of movie they'd love.

People like Erock? He's a stunted man-child who collects dolls.

No. I may be a reclusive nutjob, but I'm not a fucking dork.
