Have you ever had a coworker who you fucking hate but is actually really good at his job, better than you by an order of magnitude? He's a piece of shit and you would be much happier at work if he was axed but because your job is a team effort your performance would suffer tremendously. This motherfucker gets assaulted but because he's an asshole decides to lose his shit on the Internet and go on a racist tirade. The bosses want to fire him because MUH PC FEELS but there's a chance that you as his coworker and partner could persuade the bosses to keep him, maybe with a suspension or some other disciplinary action. Do you try and save his job so the product stays superior even though you hate him or do you let him get fired and have a happy work life even though your product will be fucking awful? It's a MORAL CONUNDRUM.
I'll say this, I'm a line cook and the "guy" who runs the station next to me is this drug addict in the process of becoming a woman. Most annoying fucker in the world but has been there for almost 10 years and is levels above anyone when it comes to what we do. If he she was possibly getting fired and they asked me my opinion I'd say I want him her the even though I hate it. When it comes to work you gotta put the personal shit aside, especially if you're like Opie and have nothing to offer without your co worker.
But the product wasn't superior. Were you even listening to the show for its last two years?
I agree with many of the criticisms of Opie, but he was right about one thing during his argument with Jim Norton: He and Anthony had no chemistry left by the end. They both obviously despised one another; neither was responding to anything the other would offer. How much more plain could it have been?
Face it. The show not only should have ended in October, 2014, it probably would have ended then.
Listened to Joe Piscopo Saga & Stairway to Stardom. Plenty of chemistry there. opie's problem which he admits to during that Yimmy fight is that he saw that it was Ant & Jim that still had chemistry. While opie felt he was left out. So to sum it all up, sensitive fucker was jealous of the other two and he can't see or admit that he was the reason there was no longer any chemistry...
Opie and Ant still had their moments but we also had Ant's almost daily solo race & politics rants (which Opie hated) and Opie's shitty family stories and management bashing (which Ant hated).
Whatever the reason . . . and I think it's a lot more complex than you make it out to be . . . the thing that made the O&A show so extraordinary (their incredible chemistry) was still gone. And the show still had to end.
You pay me millions of dollars for 4 hours work a day, you can hire or fire whoever the fuck you like. That's where my loyalty lies, not with the passive aggressive drunk who talks shit about me.
