I don't think so. Norton still has dreams of going mainstream/Hollywood, despite all his efforts suggesting that's never going to happen. If he had joined Anthony before, people in the business might have said "Oh, you do a podcast with that racist guy?" and Jim could have explained away how Anthony wasn't "really a racist", using the arguments he's previously made on several platforms. "Oh, you do a podcast with that racist guy who was charged with strangling his girlfriend?" is a little harder to explain away.
True. Jim Norton is never going to be a "Hollywood" star though. I know he has dreams and dreams are good to have but he's almost 50 and still telling tranny jokes.
Norton is a stupid funny man but if he ever thought he would be mainstream or beloved he is delusional. you only need to watch his vice show to realize how awkward he is. his self deprecation works on the radio for o&a fans but regular folks? who wants to listen to someone that every other joke is about him wearing the wrong shirt or sucking tranny dick. HE'S DELUSIONAL. nobody but o&a fans even remotely likes his comedy and he needs to understand that.
Also as hilarious as he might be on radio, his stand up isn't top-tier and his acting is shit. Also he's unpleasant to look at and isn't charming or charismatic.
You could blame Louis Ck on this. At some point, presumably around like 07 or so when HBO cancelled Louie while Norton was on OA he really probably didnt expect Louis to do anything but kind of slowly circle the drain. Instead it went the other way and now everyday Norton can say "WEll if he did it..."

norton is great on radio, but his standup is not great. he's lucky that he has a built-in audience to sell out his road gigs.
