Even if he wasn't that close with his daughter, you gotta figure that he is enraged that the guy injured her, AND he probably has the connections to lawyers to get a civil payday for his daughter.

There were several O&A shows from 8 or 10 years ago where they discussed his teenaged daughters and how much of a beast he is, and how much of a scary murderous psychopath they thought he'd be if someone went near them.
