Lawyer here. No, I don't think those statements constitute probable cause for assuming that he DID such a thing, or that there's any evidence on his computer that would be helpful in establishing that such a thing took place. Also, I think those (gross) statements were couched in terms of "IF IT WERE LEGAL I'd..." as opposed to "I'd do it laws be damned" -- it's like someone saying that they'd smoke marijuana if it were legal to do so, but it's not, they won't. And, in any event, he's not being charged with anything related to the issue you're describing.
With all of that being said, the police can pretty routinely gin up some reason to take your computer. I mean if the security camera footage from his house is on that computer, that's more than enough to justify a "fishing expedition" through the whole machine (after all, what if some of the footage is hidden?).
