I've enjoyed TACS a lot more since the new studio. I keep my subscription because it is getting better and Anthony is finding his niché as a host. Really crossing my fingers for Jim to come on board come next October. Hopefully even sooner.

Why anyone listens to OpieRaqio anymore is beyond me. Seriously. The people who seem to be listening are the ones that hate the show and it's host. If you really want this guy to be ruined STOP LISTENING. At this point he's aware that more people hate him than love him so why give Sirius the incentive to keep this asshole? He's shit on them publicly for years when really he was sucking their dick behind the curtain and getting his way. I've been disgusted by him ever since he said "why wouldn't I care about the company I work liking the new direction of the show?" Stop listening. I want this asshole to crumble to nothing.

I am ASTOUNDED that anyone can listen to O&J regularly, or even sit through an entire episode. Opie's personality is so toxic and bland, anyone easily influenced would just be driven to suicide or become an asshole themselves. The standard for comedy on that show is also rock bottom, nobody gets called out for bad jokes.. nobody is given space to talk unless they're an A-list celebrity. That entire show is trash.

We're 12k people here and the amount that actually pay for subscriptions is probaly way less. We could all stop listening and they wouldn't care, they'd probably be happy. Plus personally I don't care if he's hired or not at all. It's entertaining either way if it's bad or good

When I'm complaining about Opie I'm having fun doing it.. I can't get into all of this watch him crumble stuff... they're shit heads who talk into mics for 5 hours a day, I'd rather have him on the air to shit on than off the air to have nothing that I want to listen to in the morning

I'm a certified negative nancy and go into everything I listen to with low expectations. Despite that, TACS always makes me laugh a couple times whenever I do check it out (it's been about a year since I subbed but I take a peek...). That's more than I can say for every O&J show ever recorded.

EDIT: And I thought people were exaggerating about how great the Gilbert episode of TACS is (seems like whenever there's an above-average guest, people instantly start clamoring for new co-host), but I checked it out and it was really fucking hilarious. Ant and Gilbert going on an extended jag about George Harrison's cancer was reminiscent of some of the great Ant/Jimmy riffs.

TACS is really hit or miss with me 100% based on who the guest is. It's not just about whether or not the guest is funny or interesting - a lot of the time the guest can determine whether or not Ant is being funny.

Dave Smith for example, I don't personally find very funny. But he's a great guest because Ant is comfortable enough with him to just have a casual conversation and naturally be funny and snipe lines like he did on O&A.

I'm with you that TACS has been way better since the new studio. Ant seems to be putting more effort in and it's showing. But there are still a lot of guests that he just brings on and has a sort of half-assed interview with. Considering how funny Ant can be, you'd like to think that even a show with a bad guest could be great because of him, but too often he plays the straight man to someone who doesn't provide enough entertainment on their own.

You obviously haven't listened to TACS recently. It's been fucking killer lately. Better than the late O&A shows.

Bennington is my daily listen now. Ron, Gail, and Pepper actually can have an intelligent funny conversation and sound like aren't wishing they were somewhere else.

Ehh, its kinda boring now imo. Might be entertaining the first hour or two, but its so often liberal drivel, and then the last hour is usually an f list actor or musician. I miss the fez breakdowns every day... Kinda made the show the last few years...

Ron's a great guy, but the Bennington show is Ambien for the ears. I really hate when they do the phony "lets all sing together" bits.

It's my favorite current show (though I'm actually listening a bit behind, I have some catching up to do). I wonder how much I missed out because I never listened to R&F until after it ended. I dig Bennington a lot but a lot of the time I really wish it was someone other than Gail sitting across from Ron.

Ron can be hilarious with anyone it seems, but I think I'd find the casual conversations a lot more interesting if it didn't seem like it was mostly 2 people agreeing on certain aspects of some classic rock band that has been discussed to death.

Pepper has quickly become my favorite person walking this earth, and the shows with BL in studio were unbelievably great.

I love r&f but the bennington formula has worn thin for me. its basically ron and 2 or 3 mini-rons who agree with everything he says and has the same tastes in music/movies...etc. and the no guests format doesn't help. still funny sometimes but a far cry from the glory days

R&F with with Al dukes, Billy Staples and black earl was the true glory days. the show now is very bland

No, it's not. I listened for people like Patrice, Jimmy, Colin, Bill Burr and Louie CK. Otherwise, I haven't given a shit about the show for years. Ant is barely a step up from Opie. He's just not that good.

I stopped listening 6 months before ant got fired. Audio books are a far superior form of entertainment.

LOS is my Joint. But I like TACS to sometimes. Ants biggest problem is the lack of a co host. It would be better if he chose one (tho sure whoever it would be would be dissected here).

Both are halves of a once great show, TACS when it's going well is a lot closer to the old formula. I've held onto both since July 2014 but come January I'm dropping XM. I listen to TACS way more these days.

My main reason for dropping XM was that fight and the two Gilbert shows. Opie isn't someone I like, so why listen to him? Jimmy is great but he's in a vacuum.

You're not wrong, but the key difference is that Ant's show is getting better, and I don't see how Opie's show could "improve." I won't even say it's getting worse because the show is almost unrecognizable from the old shows.
