I guess not that many people on this sub know Alan Partridge. But they should. Aside from being just a great comedy character, he's also a slightly more charming version (and that's saying a lot) of everything Opie represents.
Also, I don't remember, but Opie was probably the reason the Coogan interview went badly. He probably kept saying, "This is uncomferrtuble... snicker, snicker, snicker, frat guy laugh, queef."
There's a scene in the series where he's getting his house built, and they're making jokes about those little baggies you put over your feet - He asks Lynn if she'd like to make a joke about them - Can anyone find a link? It's pure Opieness.

Wow that's absolutely perfect. The nervous energy with his sidekick is how I imagine Jim reacting daily.

This is my favorite AP series. When he tags Simon's lines with something obvious and mediocre, then dismisses Simon for adding another.
"This is great banter!"

I think Jim was asking him some really personal questions. Coogan's a very private guy. Shame that interview went to shit.

Coogan thought they were asking about Courtney love and heroin but they weren't. It was a miscommunication.

Nah, Opie is Karl Pilkington.
Except not as smart, talented, good-looking or kind-hearted.

Great comparison! LOL, I'll have to re-watch the series again.
