I said this when the first Greggshells happened, and I got the Jesse Ventura treatment. There's definitely some inconsistencies that don't add up which made me think it's a work.
In the days after Ant's firing, someone on Twitter asked his opinion about Opie and Jim and continuing. He said "I fucking love those guys"
Remember Ant wouldn't shit on Opie at all for the few months after the firing; even defended him. Maybe something got out that pissed Ant off though...
During the first "Greggshells", a Newsweek article ran which featured commentary from both of them.
During this latest Opie vs. Jimmy fight, although sounding rather genuine, I can't help but notice little things that were argued. Like Opie not liking Uncle Paul anymore, something this sub has mentioned numerous times. Just seemed odd that it was thrown into the fight. Or how "management liked the show" was brought up and defended by Jimmy; another big one here. Anthony was prepped on his side with analysis and T-shirt sales after the latest fight.
It's also been mentioned by Opie, Jimmy, and Kenny that nobody knows whats happening behind the scenes at SiriusXM. I don't know if that means management or possibly Stern causing issues with the show.
Say what you will about Opie, but these guys know the game. After all, he's been doing radio since he was 18. They know if they don't keep the suspense and infighting bullshit going, this sub and the remaining O&A fanbase will wither away.
What would have went on behind the scenes exactly? Everything happened out in the open. Opie started lying about Ant wanting out, and made it increasingly clear he didn't fight for his job, and Anthony turned on him. It took some time but Ant basically turned on Opie for the same reason most people here did.
And why would opieraqio want this sub to keep existing? Is stringing along this group of toxic degenerates helping Opie personally or professionally? Opie hates the fans and wants them to move on.
I actually think what he was saying then is closer to the truth. The show was really good at the time, and there seemed to be no on-air tension. He has re-written the memories in his mind since then so he doesn't feel as bad about not fighting for Ant's job. It's also the reason he kept saying that day that "Anthony was ready to move on" just because he was setting up his podcast. What a psycho.

The last great bit they did was tearing down The Todd Show on its first day. Nearly the entire show was dedicated to ripping it down, and explaining how Todd's reinvention of radio was cornball bullshit.
Now Opie with Jim Norton is The Todd Show.
Opie was turning into the Tits we know and Hate, Ant was letting his hatred overwhelm him, and Jimmy was trying to be an intellectual and failing. No chemistry, no real fun, just a blank void there.

The chemistry was there, the friendship was there, but Tits flushed all that down the drain to steal Ant's salary.
That's a good theory. It gels with what he did in the recent fight with Jimmy, where he rewrote history that he "really needed Jimmy that day." You could tell he was grasping for straws to be the victim and when that came up, he clung to it. He may even believe his own shit.
He doesn't care about on-air tension and there is never any tension on-air with him or anyone, besides the occasional fight. Everyone is afraid to confront him on the air.

Indeed, it was the one good thing Opie was doing at that time. Gun, Race, and Political talk was getting to be poison for the show. What was once considered a joke about Ant's personal beliefs that they'd toss around, was now bitter ramblings.
Just take a second and observe Opie in this video, then compare it to the sniveling mess on the radio today, crying and whining about haters and conspiracies and how he can't trust Jim. There has been a significant decline in Opie's mental health since Anthony got fired. He actually looks and sounds like a man, but in less than two years, he's become emotionally fragile and emaciated. BaldOpie aside, he has been losing a lot of hair lately. I think Opie is breaking down, and I think that all the shenanigans generated here have played a vital role in his descent into madness. A personality disorder can be managed with good coping skills, and I think that's what Opie was doing with his therapist, but as things get shittier for Opie, his capability to handle hs mental illness steadily declines. He's unraveling, and I'm somewhat concerned.
