Mixed feelings for sure. I still think it was a great show so I don't regret any of the time I spent uploading clips of it. However, I do regret any of the times I defended Opie. I was never a 'white knight' but I used to push that "he steers the ship" bullshit when people would really tear into him. Even before I officially boarded the Anti-Opie express, I would often 'comment' on the videos with the images I chose. Take a look at these two:
It's okay, we all defended Opie at some point; usually with an excuse that Ant & Jim came up with. (He steers the ship! or If you think this show could exist without him, you aren't a fan of the show! or Stop listening if you don't like it!). Ant & Jim really propped Opie up more than ever was necessary.
We all had to come to terms with Opie being the equivalent of a shoe-rack with a microphone. I'm glad you uploaded all those great clips. I certainly listen to them differently now that everything is exposed, but Anthony, Jimmy, & the comics are so good you can tune out the heavy-breasted autistic boy with a noisemaker & Kazoo with aspirations to be Howard Stern one day.

IMHO, those guys are big enough to not have to. Louis, Burr and Shumer landed on O&A on the way up, but they were climbing those steps anyway. I think both shows are tainted beyond repair at this point. Why would Burr want to go on a show he's going to be trampled over on OR do a show hosted by somebody with strong, extreme positions on race.

Good question. Someone who listens everyday thinks they pull Seinfeld numbers, but, in my social circles, nobody listened. I know one person who listens to Stern, and no O&A fans. The only time anyone needs to go on, unless it's just to hang out, is to sell tickets for NYC/New Jersey. Schumer is being pimped in places Opie fans don't watch/listen.
One of the favorite parts of my day working there was going upstairs to the break room in the morning. They had a copy machine in there with HUGELY sensitive documents either laying face up in the trash or left IN the machine itself. I saw some shit. I think it would be generous to say that the show (before I left) had around 10% of Stern's listener-ship. I feel that number fits right in with ad revenue and salaries. If Stern has 600K daily listeners, O&A have (had) 60K.
Putting this another way... Stern had his own section of the FLOOR. O&A had a plain studio like everyone else. In 2005 when Sirius signed Stern, he did some rally in Manhattan to promote it. The plan was to disrupt the event with O&A people holding signs. XM hired a few people, threw signs in their hands and we proceeded to be embarrassed by the fucking ARMY of people that showed up for Stern. We did Walkovers where if 15 people showed up, that was pretty sweet.

The next day was a Friday and after the show I was confronted by the HR lady by the office. That's never good. "Who's so and so" HR lady asks. "A friend" I reply. "How do you know them"? "Through the show" I said. Stating that we "hit it off" as pals.

He comes in and introduces himself like he knows who the fuck I am. I explain to him exactly how I know this person the same way I did to HR lady. There was no feet on desks. No hands behind my head like Andy fucking Dufresne. He asks "what does she do for a living". Not one to lie to the president, I said "She's in the adult entertainment business".
"The offer is recinded" Greenstein said.
"Are you sure? I'm sure there can be legal ramifications if that's the case. I won a contest." I said.
He goes " YOU can go, but you can't bring a guest." Whatever. I didn't give a fuck about One Direction and this was a Friday so WGAF, again.
I got a phone call on that Sunday from HR lady and and the unfinished clone from The 6th Day. I was told my services were no longer needed at SXM.

Black Phillip was a good time. Patrice didn't like to be...directed? I guess that's the right word. The only beef we had on that show was me trying to explain that 2 hours on one phone call was likely boring and that most people didn't have the time to commit to that. Holy shit I remember this. There were close to 500 people there at 6:00AM for Stern's last show. Around 7:30AM, about a dozen pests come down with signs, trying to stir up some shit. We took notice of them for like 5 minutes and returned to watch Stern. I think they kinda faded out after that.

If it was, I was only there for 1. It was BLACK TIE and in the basement of the plaza. Like there were NO windows. It felt pretty strange. That and the soul choir that was singing at the Sixth Sense church. That wedding was strange. The seating assignments were TERRIBLE. We all got the fuck out of there to go to Atlantic City before coffee and desert was served.
The first being the day of "The Show That Never Happened". As the show was going off the air at the old XM studio, I was receiving treats from one of the WolfPack groupies. The show ends but now it's awkward since I'm still...receiving. This is happening RIGHT next to Opie's position in studio. I see him looking at the action so I jokingly say "Hey man, stop looking at my dick." Immediately he goes full on defensive mode "I WASN'T LOOKING AT YOUR DICK, DUDE." and makes this "I'm disgusted" face.
Whatever, it was a joke. So before all hell breaks loose with the cops, we're just packing up the show like any other day and Op makes a point to come up to me AGAIN after the fact, after it was a fucking afterthought and says "Hey man, really, I wasn't looking at your dick." This was 2004 and I was like 6 weeks into this internship and he's Opie so I was just all "I know man, no worries." Little did I know that sensitive little girl would act that way for the next 8 years I knew him.

1 - No clue. Erik probably got a shitton of Coke Floats.
2 - That's why he comes in on a Monday and asks how everyone's weekend was. He's hoping somebody else has something to get everyone past the first hour. Unless it was American Idol related I NEVER got an email from Opie saying "hey we need this" or "I found this great audio". He just shows up and orders breakfast.
3 - Well yeah, I mean there have been instances of waving your hand back and forth as if to say "No, no, we can't do that or go there". But there's other times Op would just take a phone call in the middle of something just because there was an opening. Not that it made any sense to do at the time.
4 - It's a Master Po story. I forget the guys name with the Pickled Punk, but he came into the studio pretty early on and brought 2 attractive, tattooed women with him. They drove up from DC? I think? And after the appearance, Po "couldn't find" their ID's (ID's were taken from everyone that came up). They leave and later Master Po MAGICALLY finds them! Does he next day air them to the girls? No. He drives down to DC to personally deliver the ID's.......and ask them both to dinner. Clearly these ID's were never "lost". Don't think that ever came up on air.
5 - Ha. Master Po had no idea what the show was when he started so he felt like he stepped into some wild celebrity. He was also cheap as fuck and would try to get free meals wherever he could. I found out he was going to Carolines multiple times a week for free food and they would just take care of him since they knew he was with the show. Tacky AF. Anyway, so Po would show up to every FH Riley event in his never ending search for free food and show pussy. Somebody caught him getting out of his car without his pants and walking around to the drivers seat. He was fucking in the parking lot, not raping but it became a gag and just stuck there. To the point you could get a laugh just by saying "Rape, gentlemen." It's making me laugh right now.
I've had small run ins with Chris, but we never had a solid chill. He's a cool dude, and I have no beefs with the dude we just never got down.
What I mean is, during a 'remember what a fucktard po was' session, the fact that certain IDs had 'gone missing' was also brought up and I think maybe the big reveal that it was a script for dick pills in ants car. You must know that this sub has been trying to make the show crash and burn since Ant was fired. And not out of love for Ant, but because of just how shitty the "morning zoo" is now. What would get under the Titster's skin the most? You've alluded to stories of his freakouts. What really makes him freak out?
I think when Ray Liotta asked if he was sick was a HUGE blow. I mean, a HUGE celebrity was outright calling him out for having NOTHING. If that were me? I'd be embarrassed as fuck.
This is probably a lot like some of the other questions, but I had to ask. I really thought there were times you were very funny in studio, especially with stuff like the CO-FUCKING-CAINE promo. I also felt that you contributed to some of the more entertaining and revealing arguments on the show, and for your part, it made for great radio that's still interesting to listen to today.
I'm not trying to take the piss out of you. I hear stuff like this and it makes me wonder what the show was like behind the scenes. When people took turns in the barrel, was it actually the good-natured ribbing that it was made out to be, or was it always really personal? If it was meant to be good-natured, why did you did take it so personally sometimes? It's easy for the listener to assume things are a certain way, but we're not party to how things are off the air.
Steve was a good dude. Steve got me my start in radio. Sometime in 1998 Foundry was a massively different website from what it had become. Back then, there were hourly "show recaps" or at least the intent was to have hourly show recaps. I noticed that a lot of the "shifts" were open and it was annoying because I was missing huge chunks of the show and didn't know what happened. This of course was a pre-YouTube era. So I contacted Steve for some writing shifts. That progressed into a writing column and some porn reviews.
When the show was announced to be returning in 2004 I immediately hit up Steve and asked if they needed anyone, or interns. He said "I don't know, but send me your resume." I didn't hear anything for a bit until I'm at work one day and I see a 202 number pop up on my phone. I knew 202 was DC and XM was in DC. I pick up and its XM HR offering me a "volunteer" position since the intern deadline had passed and I wasn't in college at the time anyway. That would have never have happened without Steve. So yeah, I was technically a "volunteer" for the O&A show for about 10 mos or so? Then we were offered part time (20hrs) for another year. I remember stealing breakfast change some days so I could buy a MetroCard fare home. It basically took all of us behind the scenes guys to team up and threaten to walk out unless we got hired. We got hired. Love you, Ben
Steve was always best in a production environment. It was never his goal or desire (I think) to be the EP. However, after Ben left he was the most senior guy and really, none of us were experienced enough at all to take those reins. He just wasn't a very good EP. It got to the point where he wasn't even show prepping in the morning, he was just adding affiliate links on Foundry. He acted like that was an important part of the show but in reality it was just an important part of his income. So here I am, trying to work my balls off for my favorite radio show ever and here's my EP not giving any fucks, lining his pockets instead of producing a radio show. That was my beef with Steve which unfortunately never ended. I never campaigned to have him fired but I WAS frustrated that the EP of this show didn't have his head in the game. Like ever.
Steve had me suspended once. We would always bust his balls over a plethora of things and we had this dry erase board over at CBS with a calendar on it. One day I wrote into a random day "Steve thinks Foundry is a viable source of income without O&A". Welp I guess that's insubordination. I was suspended, with pay, over an XMAS break so, I missed no pay and no shows.
I was never a big fan of Otto & George. Just wasn't my thing.
Patrice was probably my fave. If Patrice was coming in you could basically take the day off. He was going to be hysterical no matter what was going on in studio.
I loved Bobby until the Patrice Poster incident. After that whole sh'bang he can get fucked.
DeRosa takes a lot of shit here but he's a genuine guy. He doesn't put up fronts to hide himself. I like that about him. Whether he comes off good or bad, he's not being a phony prick.

It took half of the fun staff drama away, which was always great listening; see: the fights with Steve; your fight with Mars; your fight with Kenny; the spat with Patrice; and so on. 1 - No clue. Erik probably got a shitton of Coke Floats.
2 - That's why he comes in on a Monday and asks how everyone's weekend was. He's hoping somebody else has something to get everyone past the first hour. Unless it was American Idol related I NEVER got an email from Opie saying "hey we need this" or "I found this great audio". He just shows up and orders breakfast.
3 - Well yeah, I mean there have been instances of waving your hand back and forth as if to say "No, no, we can't do that or go there". But there's other times Op would just take a phone call in the middle of something just because there was an opening. Not that it made any sense to do at the time.
4 - It's a Master Po story. I forget the guys name with the Pickled Punk, but he came into the studio pretty early on and brought 2 attractive, tattooed women with him. They drove up from DC? I think? And after the appearance, Po "couldn't find" their ID's (ID's were taken from everyone that came up). They leave and later Master Po MAGICALLY finds them! Does he next day air them to the girls? No. He drives down to DC to personally deliver the ID's.......and ask them both to dinner. Clearly these ID's were never "lost". Don't think that ever came up on air.
5 - Ha. Master Po had no idea what the show was when he started so he felt like he stepped into some wild celebrity. He was also cheap as fuck and would try to get free meals wherever he could. I found out he was going to Carolines multiple times a week for free food and they would just take care of him since they knew he was with the show. Tacky AF. Anyway, so Po would show up to every FH Riley event in his never ending search for free food and show pussy. Somebody caught him getting out of his car without his pants and walking around to the drivers seat. He was fucking in the parking lot, not raping but it became a gag and just stuck there. To the point you could get a laugh just by saying "Rape, gentlemen." It's making me laugh right now.

Mixed feelings for sure. I still think it was a great show so I don't regret any of the time I spent uploading clips of it. However, I do regret any of the times I defended Opie. I was never a 'white knight' but I used to push that "he steers the ship" bullshit when people would really tear into him. It's okay, we all defended Opie at some point; usually with an excuse that Ant & Jim came up with. (He steers the ship! or If you think this show could exist without him, you aren't a fan of the show! or Stop listening if you don't like it!). Ant & Jim really propped Opie up more than ever was necessary.
We all had to come to terms with Opie being the equivalent of a shoe-rack with a microphone. I'm glad you uploaded all those great clips. I certainly listen to them differently now that everything is exposed, but Anthony, Jimmy, & the comics are so good you can tune out the heavy-breasted autistic boy with a noisemaker & Kazoo with aspirations to be Howard Stern one day.

One of the favorite parts of my day working there was going upstairs to the break room in the morning. They had a copy machine in there with HUGELY sensitive documents either laying face up in the trash or left IN the machine itself. I saw some shit. I think it would be generous to say that the show (before I left) had around 10% of Stern's listener-ship. I feel that number fits right in with ad revenue and salaries. If Stern has 600K daily listeners, O&A have (had) 60K.
Putting this another way... Stern had his own section of the FLOOR. O&A had a plain studio like everyone else. In 2005 when Sirius signed Stern, he did some rally in Manhattan to promote it. The plan was to disrupt the event with O&A people holding signs. XM hired a few people, threw signs in their hands and we proceeded to be embarrassed by the fucking ARMY of people that showed up for Stern. We did Walkovers where if 15 people showed up, that was pretty sweet.

Well, I heard that I had my feet up on the desk and was basically shittalking Scott Greenstein. No.
An email blast had went out regarding 1D's performance at the studio and offered an email lottery to ONE employee and a guest to attend. I had seen this come across my corporate email and quickly blew it off thinking "One Direction? WGAF." But, then I realized that I hated this fucking company and IF..IF I won, I would be taking that opportunity away from somebody who really wanted it. I was.... ALL IN.
I get a call at my desk after the show one day. I won. I had a plus one to this dumbass 1D thing I didn't give any fucks about. Now I'm thinking to myself.... "You're a producer for Opie & Anthony. How do you play this. Do you play by the rules? Or do you do what's expected of a fucking O&A producer.".
Well.
At first I wanted Bailey Jay. I wasn't sure if that would be insulting to her. I didn't want her gender role to be a source of comedy and I reached out to some people for guidance and decided I would go a more traditional route. We had contacts at Penthouse so I got in touch and saw who was available during that time frame.
I can't recall her name, since I don't GAF. BUT, her porn name was on the list. I didn't think anyone would go the extra mile to research it. They did.
The next day was a Friday and after the show I was confronted by the HR lady by the office. That's never good. We go inside the conference room and she's very HR and nice, congratulating me on the win and asking me who I'm taking. At this point I know the jig is up, but I'm standing my ground. "Who's so and so" HR lady asks. "A friend" I reply. "How do you know them"? "Through the show" I said. Stating that we "hit it off" as pals.
It was around this point that Scott Greenstein came in, (his office was connected to this conference room so I don't doubt for a second that he could hear every word of what was going on.) He comes in and introduces himself like he knows who the fuck I am. I explain to him exactly how I know this person the same way I did to HR lady. There was no feet on desks. No hands behind my head like Andy fucking Dufresne. He asks "what does she do for a living". Not one to lie to the president, I said "She's in the adult entertainment business".
"The offer is recinded" Greenstein said.
"Are you sure? I'm sure there can be legal ramifications if that's the case. I won a contest." I said. He goes " YOU can go, but you can't bring a guest." Whatever. I didn't give a fuck about One Direction and this was a Friday so WGAF, again.
I got a phone call on that Sunday from HR lady and and the unfinished clone from The 6th Day. I was told my services were no longer needed at SXM.
The event hadn't taken place yet. I was fired for putting a name on a guest list.

The only beef we had on that show was me trying to explain that 2 hours on one phone call was likely boring and that most people didn't have the time to commit to that. Simple producer shit, and he bugged out. Nothing personal, just felt the show needed to move along that day.
Personas weren't a thing for me which is where I think a lot of the hate comes from. It feels like from this sub, I was to kowtow to these public figures because they were bigger than me. Two Opie stories I can think of right now:
The first being the day of "The Show That Never Happened". As the show was going off the air at the old XM studio, I was receiving treats from one of the WolfPack groupies. The show ends but now it's awkward since I'm still...receiving. This is happening RIGHT next to Opie's position in studio. I see him looking at the action so I jokingly say "Hey man, stop looking at my dick." Immediately he goes full on defensive mode "I WASN'T LOOKING AT YOUR DICK, DUDE." and makes this "I'm disgusted" face.
Whatever, it was a joke. So before all hell breaks loose with the cops, we're just packing up the show like any other day and Op makes a point to come up to me AGAIN after the fact, after it was a fucking afterthought and says "Hey man, really, I wasn't looking at your dick." This was 2004 and I was like 6 weeks into this internship and he's Opie so I was just all "I know man, no worries." Little did I know that sensitive little girl would act that way for the next 8 years I knew him.
There was also a few incidents involving the ever shitty Homeless Mustard. I guess he was in studio one day and I was bored with it and probably making faces or some shit. I go home, so now it's HOURS later after the show and I get a passive aggressive text from Opie. "Hey thanks for being cool with Mustard". I go, "Yeah, well, it's your show, not mine." He replies with something like "Oh, OK thanks, I know you don't like him very much." That's what it was like working for this prick. You HAVE to like what he likes, or you're some fucking traitor or something. Don't like The View? Well now you're against him personally and the show itself.
Oh yeah! There was one time he caught me shittalking him or the content of the show on gchat. Whatever I had said was all true, and being a Senior Producer I feel like I should have some input as to the direction of the show. I mean, that's the job. He was so upset and furious that I didn't enjoy what he thought was radio platinum. I had to start referencing him as The Dr. so he wouldn't catch on. DR stood for Dumbass Retardington. So every time he would say something so infuriatingly stupid that nobody could fucking believe it, I'd go "The DR. is IN!"

2 - That's why he comes in on a Monday and asks how everyone's weekend was. He's hoping somebody else has something to get everyone past the first hour. Unless it was American Idol related I NEVER got an email from Opie saying "hey we need this" or "I found this great audio". He just shows up and orders breakfast.
3 - Well yeah, I mean there have been instances of waving your hand back and forth as if to say "No, no, we can't do that or go there". But there's other times Op would just take a phone call in the middle of something just because there was an opening. Not that it made any sense to do at the time.
4 - It's a Master Po story. I forget the guys name with the Pickled Punk, but he came into the studio pretty early on and brought 2 attractive, tattooed women with him. They drove up from DC? I think? And after the appearance, Po "couldn't find" their ID's (ID's were taken from everyone that came up). They leave and later Master Po MAGICALLY finds them! 5 - Ha. Master Po had no idea what the show was when he started so he felt like he stepped into some wild celebrity. He was also cheap as fuck and would try to get free meals wherever he could. I found out he was going to Carolines multiple times a week for free food and they would just take care of him since they knew he was with the show. Tacky AF. Anyway, so Po would show up to every FH Riley event in his never ending search for free food and show pussy. Somebody caught him getting out of his car without his pants and walking around to the drivers seat. He was fucking in the parking lot, not raping but it became a gag and just stuck there. To the point you could get a laugh just by saying "Rape, gentlemen." It's making me laugh right now.
I've had small run ins with Chris, but we never had a solid chill. He's a cool dude, and I have no beefs with the dude we just never got down.

This is probably a lot like some of the other questions, but I had to ask. I really thought there were times you were very funny in studio, especially with stuff like the CO-FUCKING-CAINE promo. I also felt that you contributed to some of the more entertaining and revealing arguments on the show, and for your part, it made for great radio that's still interesting to listen to today.

I'm not trying to take the piss out of you. I hear stuff like this and it makes me wonder what the show was like behind the scenes. When people took turns in the barrel, was it actually the good-natured ribbing that it was made out to be, or was it always really personal? Steve was a good dude. Steve got me my start in radio. Sometime in 1998 Foundry was a massively different website from what it had become. Back then, there were hourly "show recaps" or at least the intent was to have hourly show recaps. I noticed that a lot of the "shifts" were open and it was annoying because I was missing huge chunks of the show and didn't know what happened. This of course was a pre-YouTube era. So I contacted Steve for some writing shifts. That progressed into a writing column and some porn reviews.
When the show was announced to be returning in 2004 I immediately hit up Steve and asked if they needed anyone, or interns. He said "I don't know, but send me your resume." I didn't hear anything for a bit until I'm at work one day and I see a 202 number pop up on my phone. I knew 202 was DC and XM was in DC. I pick up and its XM HR offering me a "volunteer" position since the intern deadline had passed and I wasn't in college at the time anyway. That would have never have happened without Steve. So yeah, I was technically a "volunteer" for the O&A show for about 10 mos or so? Then we were offered part time (20hrs) for another year. I remember stealing breakfast change some days so I could buy a MetroCard fare home. It basically took all of us behind the scenes guys to team up and threaten to walk out unless we got hired. We got hired. Love you, Ben
Steve was always best in a production environment. It was never his goal or desire (I think) to be the EP. However, after Ben left he was the most senior guy and really, none of us were experienced enough at all to take those reins. He just wasn't a very good EP. It got to the point where he wasn't even show prepping in the morning, he was just adding affiliate links on Foundry. He acted like that was an important part of the show but in reality it was just an important part of his income. So here I am, trying to work my balls off for my favorite radio show ever and here's my EP not giving any fucks, lining his pockets instead of producing a radio show. That was my beef with Steve which unfortunately never ended. I never campaigned to have him fired but I WAS frustrated that the EP of this show didn't have his head in the game. Like ever.
Steve had me suspended once. We would always bust his balls over a plethora of things and we had this dry erase board over at CBS with a calendar on it. One day I wrote into a random day "Steve thinks Foundry is a viable source of income without O&A". Welp I guess that's insubordination. I was suspended, with pay, over an XMAS break so, I missed no pay and no shows.

I fucking hated you on the show; and Kenny confronting you during the workout challenge or whatever it was is one of my favorite moments. That said, I think the show went down a sharp downhill spiral after you were canned.
People's hate for you went even more towards Opie, which descended him more into mental illness, over him wanting to be liked. It took half of the fun staff drama away, which was always great listening; see: the fights with Steve; your fight with Mars; your fight with Kenny; the spat with Patrice; and so on. You were the villain the show needed.
Also, you had the best laugh on the show.
Anyhow, what I'm trying to say is: kill, fuck, marry: Sam, E-Rock or Travis.

1 - No clue. Erik probably got a shitton of Coke Floats.
2 - That's why he comes in on a Monday and asks how everyone's weekend was. He's hoping somebody else has something to get everyone past the first hour. Unless it was American Idol related I NEVER got an email from Opie saying "hey we need this" or "I found this great audio". He just shows up and orders breakfast.
3 - Well yeah, I mean there have been instances of waving your hand back and forth as if to say "No, no, we can't do that or go there". But there's other times Op would just take a phone call in the middle of something just because there was an opening. Not that it made any sense to do at the time.
4 - It's a Master Po story. I forget the guys name with the Pickled Punk, but he came into the studio pretty early on and brought 2 attractive, tattooed women with him. They drove up from DC? I think? And after the appearance, Po "couldn't find" their ID's (ID's were taken from everyone that came up). They leave and later Master Po MAGICALLY finds them! Does he next day air them to the girls? No. He drives down to DC to personally deliver the ID's.......and ask them both to dinner. Clearly these ID's were never "lost". Don't think that ever came up on air.
5 - Ha. Master Po had no idea what the show was when he started so he felt like he stepped into some wild celebrity. He was also cheap as fuck and would try to get free meals wherever he could. I found out he was going to Carolines multiple times a week for free food and they would just take care of him since they knew he was with the show. Tacky AF. Anyway, so Po would show up to every FH Riley event in his never ending search for free food and show pussy. Somebody caught him getting out of his car without his pants and walking around to the drivers seat. He was fucking in the parking lot, not raping but it became a gag and just stuck there. To the point you could get a laugh just by saying "Rape, gentlemen." It's making me laugh right now.
I've had small run ins with Chris, but we never had a solid chill. He's a cool dude, and I have no beefs with the dude we just never got down.
