I don't know if anything changed since the first one but I raised $13K+ with gig poster sales under the assumption that this money would be going to the people that Patrice loved most in his life. His mom, Von and Von's kid. Multiple times I had tried to split the money between the two parties (since that's where I was told it was going) and was told that wouldn't be happening and was basically forced to write the check in full to his mother, which was fine but I felt terrible for Von.

On a side note, Bobby and Bill both refused to put up the cost of the posters, which I happily did myself out of my own pocket. I think the total cost was somewhere around $4K. I guess that was too rich for their blood. I handled everything myself actually. From commissioning the artist to securing the print shop. Handled all the online sales, merch table, shipping, returns, customer service...everything. The poster was Bobby's idea. I wasn't running to him looking for a side project. Neither Bill nor Bobby ever thanked me for any of it and all I ever got in return was grief. Bobby actually called me incessantly after the fact looking for "numbers" for accounting. I lost my mind on him in the middle of a MicroCenter after he called me yet again looking for better "numbers" after I supplied him with a very sufficient spreadsheet reflecting costs. The fact that he thought I was skimming off the top disgusted me. That was the last time I spoke to Bobby.

If I knew it was going to end like that, I would have handed out the cash myself. Hell, technically it was mine anyway. All collected in my name. I told Bobby to set up an account so I DIDN'T have to deal with all of it in my name. He/They never did.

Hmmmm. I think this one was out there before but whatever...

So we do the O&A Animation Festival. Went off great, felt like a new, fun and creative annual event for us. Well, Op decides it's time to do another animation festival. I was tasked with getting the numbers together for management. Everything worked fine on paper, until Op demanded a $10K appearance fee for the event. In other words, he wanted extra money i.e. get paid.. to go to his own event.....which was his idea. Now, while that didn't bankrupt the event, if Ant & Jim found out Op was getting 10 grand just to SHOW UP, they would surely request this fee as well. Now that DID put the kibosh on it. The fact that there was never a second festival goes to show that Op's fee was more important to him than the actual event itself.

So if anybody wants to know why there was never a SECOND O&A Animation Festival, that's it.

did you ever ask him about why or tell him that what he was doing was fucking it up? Did and or jim comment on that event at any point? Do you have any good stories you haven't heard before on here....with lots of details!!! :)

From a pure graphic design point of view they're very shitty posters. It's the laziest type of minimalism. Patrice deserved better than this hack work.

There should be one benefit concert. To pay for the funeral and make sure his mother is ok for her bills for awhile. If Mrs O'Neal wants to run some tribute shows with his friends that's ok. But Von asking the fans for money has become her job and it is disgusting.

Patrice's mom is definitely too old to work and the one I feel for in this situation. That's understandable that he might have been giving her money to live well off of (which all sons should do if they can), which is above her means, but he was never expecting to die before her, so now how is she going to pay these bills? Did Patrice ever have a child with Von? Is a 2 bedroom NJ apartment that expensive these days?
