AA is basically a cult. Most of the people that go just trade their addiction to alcohol into an addiction to meetings and the sober lifestyle. They don't ever get well, its just a transference of behavior. AA preys on these people like most religious rhetoric. They need God because they can not except the blame for their actions and want an excuse that they are "powerless". Bullshit therapy.

Rule 1) AA is not a religious organization.
Rule 2) To join AA you must admit that you are completely powerless over your addiction and put all of your faith into a Higher Power.
