Remember a few weeks ago when we were discussing the Louis CK & Ricky Gervais vs. Jay Mohr appearance? Finally found the precursor to that interview.

So it starts at about 2:50:00, 20 minutes until the show ends. No Anthony in studio - Jay Mohr, Ronnie B, Jim Norton, Opie, and then Louis CK.

Louis CK comes in the studio alone. They didn't know he was going to make an appearance.

After like 5-10 minutes of pleasantries and stories, the bashing starts. Eventually Louis goes after Mohr and tells him he has the mind of a dog. It's a matter of opinion so feel free to share yours but it seemed to me like that comment rubbed Jay the wrong way. His energy changed after it. He kind of had a "pouty" tone in his voice when he made comments after the Louis bashing of him. Perhaps this appearance played a lot into the following appearance and the followup phone call.

Now at the last 5 minutes of the clip -- listen to Jay Mohr ask Louis questions. I'm pretty sure he was subtly trolling him. At one point he just sets Louis up with this softball ass question and says something about "autonomy" -- Hollywood Louis eats it right up and doesn't even notice he's being made fun of. I think Jim Norton noticed it though because he seemed to catch on to what Jay was doing.

Also, dare I say that Opie is pretty good throughout the whole segment. This was during a 2 week span when Anthony wasn't in studio at all, and Opie actually had some good shows in that period, heavily supported by jim / ronnie b / jay / bobby etc. Opie is a good shit stirrer in this clip. IMO.

Also near the beginning is Louis CK talking about Twitter. He talks about the exact risk of twitter that caused Anthony to lose his job

edit:

dog comment is around 3:02:00

autonomy question is around 3:07:15

I remember Ron filled in for both Anthony & Opie at different points. The episode he sat in for Opie was 1 of the first appearances of Mike Bocchetti. Ron said on his show "when I fill in for Anthony they need Jay Mohr, Louis CK & Ricky Gervais to sit in too. When I fill in for Opie they just need some guy named Mike"

Got any half slices?

Take 'em to the zoo Rock!

Louie's said openly on the show that he's never really liked Jay. He's said he finds Jay immature and someone who has never really outgrown the shittiness that he had when he was just starting out doing standup

What he said was way more nuanced. He said in that same breath, literally the sentence after the one you're talking about "That's how I felt back then after he told me to spit on his cock, but I love Jay and have a lot of affection for Jay."

He's also said on another show that the Rick Shapiro issue has never sat well with him and that he doesn't Jay because of it. So you decide his true feelings

Don't remember that one tbh.

It was after Louie premiered because talking about the show took up most of the episode

What was the Rick Shapiro issue?

Harsh.... Thanks for linking. It almost comes off like he was proud of dog fucking Shapiro.

I loved Shapiro on o&a he's in some of my favorite episodes.

Louie's a big fan and a good friend of his. That's why he took it so personal

Louie really snapped at him in an unfunny way, but you could see where he was coming from. There's 2 hosts and one comedian/host, like normal (O&R&J). Then a guest comic that was there the whole show, then a 5th, Louis. He came in with less than 20 minutes left (worried that he might be inconveniencing people by sending the show over) and wanted to get some time in. If you remember how many other times when the studio's really full, a guest will often take the backseat to give the other guest whose time is limited some breathing room. Even Jimmy will do this a lot. I think the show friends have gotten used to that just being the way it goes, and that it's the respectful thing to do. Jay was hogging about 50% - 70% of the mic time with 5 people in the room in the lead-up to Louie basically telling him to shut the fuck up.

I enjoy Jay on the phone more than I do in studio. He barrels over people and gets jealous of attention being diverted from him

Finally found one of the most popular Louis appearances! What a a rare gem!

yeah a bit awkward, weird how Jay was so sensitive/insecure even before the dog comment. Why do so many people hate Jay Mohr...its fucking odd. Mohr is hilarious and his podcast is great. He tends to sort of borrow/absorb through osmosis a lot of other things but even with all that he seems to be good natured about it.

He's a notorious joke thief and his wife writes his act. I can respect that he owns up to it, but it's not very strong material. I also get annoyed at how much he plays up his wife because she look like she wears a hornet's nest when she sleeps

I just hear him as Colin and I don't understand where that could come from except his own head.

I don't doubt that he is a thief, because I've heard it (rocketing Yoo Hoo! Seriously, fuck him for stealing from Otto.) But I just don't understand why when he's obviously got a comedic mind.

Great point. He's a very gifted impressionist in that he actually makes up plausible dialogue for his impressions that's 100% creative. Outside of that his material is bad

Plenty of funny comics aren't respected in the comics community and it's usually because they're difficult to get along with. Jay Mohr is one of those guys who got in show business early, so he never needed to be liked by comedians to make a good living.

I'm not sure how legit the joke thievery claims are, but jokes about it are a symptom of the fact he already isn't well-liked to begin with.

Jay fucking rules. Fuck Louis CK and Ricky Gervais. This was one of the best episodes ever, probably the best without Ant, but it was actually better before Louis came in. Jay, Opie, Jim and Ronnie were a great quartet (yes, even Opie was good, didn't talk much, hanged back) and their chemistry immediately declined as soon as Lou and then Ricky came in.

Definitely, and there were a lot of good eps during this span while Ant was on vacation. Heavily supported by others but Opie was in rare, rare form that week. This O&J show now is not even 25% of what he was putting out during those weeks, it's too bad, but maybe thats karma

In this incident I agreed with Jay and his impressions were near perfect. Aside from that I find him to be an insufferable cunt. I've hated him since he stole from Otto then was a complete childish twat about it on the radio.

what happened with the whole Otto thievery?

Fuck Jay Mohr.

Why are you posting this like it's news? You didn't "find" anything. Everyone has heard this a million times.

People were talking about it in the thread, like there was another factor that caused the tension between Jay and Louis but no one could come up with a link, so its a follow up to that
