Anthony Jeselnik: Thoughts and Prayers on Netflix

14  2015-10-21 by RearNakedGrope

Not sure how long it's been on Netflix, but I just watched this special, and goddamn, I was laughing my ass off. I think he's one of the best today with that type of misdirection based comedy. Just wanted to see what this subs opinion on him was, I think this special is really solid.

the last 20 mins are comedic philosophy. a must listen for everybody opposing PC culture

Yeah, if you're going to make a "good egg" omelet, you're going to need an Anthony Jeselnik or two.

Now more than ever.

Thanks for the heads-up on the last 20 minutes. I'm about halfway through, but I'll get to the rest sooner rather than later now.

This interview is interesting: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/10/interview-anthony-jeselnik-on-thoughts-and-prayers.html Check out the last part about PC. TLDR he's not afraid of it and thinks the comics who are afraid are being lazy.

Darkest and best Eric Clapton joke I've ever heard. From top to bottom he killed it.

That Eric Clapton joke was hilarious and horrible.

I've always thought he was pretty funny

It was released on Friday, and was excellent as expected. Makes Amy's status quo HBO special look like chilled diarrhea in a hog trough, what a sharp contrast.

Jeselnik is one of the best going and if you're just discovering him now you have at least TWO HOURS of catching up to do!

but Amy had 50 jokes that was a variation of "name drop a celebrity, I looked like a monster next to them!". Those weren't good?

Seriously, Amy is becoming Kathy Griffin

I've liked Jeselnik for years. This is one of the best specials I've seen in a while, that's why I brought it up.

I think it was more than funny. It was also brilliant, especially the last part, which also made a serious point. He used being mean to give a lesson about the hypocrisy of political correctness and compassion vs fake compassion. It actually made me think.

I watched it this weekend with the girlfriend. We actually laughed quite a bit, much more so than Bobby's special, which I thought was average to below average. Anthony's joke of his brother masturbating was fucking great.

Gave this a chance, it was very funny

It was released on the 16th. He's hilarious.

It was fucking hilarious

thots and prehrs

I just watched. It was a great special. Him and Joe Machi are the two best joke writers working today

"You've been raped" hahaha

His Comedy Central show was pretty damn good, but you know, he's a straight white cis man, so that couldn't last.

Besides his permanent Walken impression I liked it.

I think he's great. Wasn't he fucking Cabbage Tits for awhile....?

He sure was. I also noticed Amy used to do a lot of the same type of misdirection jokes when they were dating. Now, not so much. I think he used to help her write.

Exactly what I was thinking. She shouldn't have blown that relationship....or maybe she should have blown more

Thoughts and Prayers is his best yet

Probably would not have seen this without the recommendation. Thanks

No problem.

Hilarious special. Who doesn't love non-stop dead baby jokes

I don't get the Down votes,I was actually being serious

Good jokes as one-off's but I can't imagine sitting through a whole set of it.

You start to anticipate the misdirection and that takes away from the shock of it.

You can anticipate all you want but as long as you don't see it coming it doesn't matter. If you stop sitting there trying to outsmart his act you'll enjoy it, fucking poindexter.

He's one of those guys that just seemed hate-able the second you saw him, just smarmy douche. (Duuuude you're so schmarrmyyy) But I went to a taping of his show to see someone else on it, and he totally won me over. I loved him because he's a smarmy douche. What a funny, fast fucker. I love when that happens.

Normand was like that for me too. Seemed so douchey on the surface.

He is funny, but his delivery is fucking painful to listen to.
