Since 2000 they have put out 2 albums. And I can understand if you don't love the 2, but you know damn well saying "they suck" is facetitious BS. I like all their albums but Lateralus is definitely some mood music. 10,000 Days was great though, go back and listen to it
I saw them in 2000 as well. I liked Lateralus at the time, but I wouldn't go back and listen to it now. They just got too up their own asses and boring. I haven't bothered to listen to anything from them since then and moved onto other stuff.
Seriously check out 10,000 Days. There's multiple songs I think you'll like. "Vicarious" and "the pot" immediately come to mind. Fucking awesome, complex songs that actually rock and have a catchy melody and hooks
You saw them live at the worst time. It was probably right after Lateralus was released and they were going heavy on that. I've seen them 3x since and the set lists are always tremendous. Fuck I wanna listen to them right now and they're not on iTunes and I can't bring my record player to work. FUCK!
I agree Aenima is their peak but Lateralus was still sick and is regarded by many as their best work. Also 10,000 Days is great as well and went more back to the earlier sounds and away from the heavy "chanty" type music on Lateralus. I also agree that a lot of A Perfect Circles stuff is as good or even better than Tools. Hence the name "maynardsabeast". I'm thinking 2016 we will finally get a new album. Gotta respect guys like this that are concerned in making full cohesive albums, and are even still holding out from iTunes and streaming
Two of my friends are still really into Tool, but I just don't dig them that much anymore. Even the old stuff I rarely listen to. I just feel like if I am in a prog mood or want to hear long, complex songs, I'd rather pull out some Riverside, Dream Theater, Opeth, and I've been checking out Porcupine Tree lately, since they pretty heavily influenced Riverside, a band I love that isn't very popular in the states.
And if I'm in a heavy mood, then my tastes are more melodeath, symphonic or thrash metal rather than whatever you would classify Tool's heavier stuff.
I'm not going to say tool sucks, because obviously they don't. They wouldn't be where they are if they did. However, I don't get how you can enjoy whatever you're doing listening to tool. It's children making noise in my opinion.
I don't understand how anyone can possibly hate on Tool. For me that means you are either too young, or you strictly listen to rap or edm. And if you do listen to edm music while simultaneously saying tool sucks, well then I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you aren't my type of fella
Lol. Kinda funny but no. Tool makes creative, unique, technically sound music, with a beast of a frontman and Aenima is a top 5 rock album ever from front to back, meant to be listened to it order. Seriously if you don't like tool what do you like? This way I can make up a silly stereotype based on your fandom.
Why are people getting so mad? Sometimes you bomb. Sometimes you dedicate your time and efforts into important, potentially life changing projects and even though they totally fail in every way you still tried. Sometimes you get really hyped up for something and talk to other kids that are also really hyped up and you guys get together and make these big plans and publicly declare how awesome it's gonna be and then it just doesn't quite come through. It's only the 7th and you guys have like no steam left and you still have 24 days to make your dreams come true.

Tool peaked with Aenima. Their music has mostly been boring, drawn out shit since then. A Perfect Circle was significantly better than Tool ever was.

Tool went to shit once the 2000's happened and wanted to become a heavier sounding Rush.

Both true statements, i liked it, i thought? Rush, all about castle quests, i enjoy them too! Fantasy is for faggots, ok they both suck

Tool is the kind of music that teenagers listen to on over-ear head phones while pencil sketching skulls.
