Well if you listen to Opie's obsessive Twitter followers, they all say "He forgot to announce the scheduled day off in advance. It happens". "Just because he didn't specifically tell you last week that he was taking today off doesn't mean it wasn't scheduled!" It's amazing he still has a fan base with such blind loyalty.

As a radio pro, he needed to go into work. It would have been best for him to just ignore the backlash and take the wind out of our sails.

Instead, he takes the day off, refuses to acknowledge why he took the day off and insists this was scheduled for a long time. This just emboldened us and made us realize we could force Opie to take a day off.

The thing I don't understand is that, back in the WNEW/early XM days, there must have been times when Pests ripped on Opie for doing something stupid and ripped him just as hard and in much greater numbers. After all, back then the total number of Pests that were out there sending in instant feedbacks must have been in the millions. O&A were beating Howard for about a year straight among the male demo and were undeniably the biggest radio show in the country. Didn't Opie brush off stuff back then, even when the stakes were much higher? So how is it that fringe listeners of a shitty Archie Bunker's Place-esque spinoff of O&A representing not even 5% of O&A's peak audience can get to him like this? I mean he is literally unraveling.

Have the remaining Pests on here become just way more savage in their attacks, or has Opie become so thin-skinned that it's fucking with him mentally? Then again it could always be both.

A big part is that he doesn't have Anthony. Back in the day Anthony would step up and take charge of the hate, either through blind rage or comedy. Opie is too dumb to function so he doesn't know how to react.

Before the break up I think the pests would fuck with opie but it was out of love. He was a retarded asshole but he was our retarded asshole. Now there's only hate. He betrayed the fans.
