Like most of us, Jimmy has certain idols because he was an impressionable kid when they were popular. But if Jimmy was in his 30's when these bands became popular he'd laugh at them for what they are.

I could see liking Sabbath and Ozzy at that point (I didn't get into them until I was 25. Though I don't think Ozzy's really done anything worthwhile since 1986 and that's being a bit generous. And I certainly can see why someone wouldn't like his vocals)

But if you were anything but a kid when KISS were at their peak and being obsessed with them, that would be mind-boggling to me.

I really don't know. I heard their first two albums in the early 90's when I was 11 or 12... but I guess I was too young to appreciate them. But I now have all of the original lineup's LPs and like all of them.. even Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die. TE's a bit of a stretch, but at least half of it is good.

I disagree. I think Black Sabbath is a very underrated, genius and influential band. I started getting into them later, too. Iommi and Butler are who an adult would fanboy over, probably. They are clearly the driving force of the band. Plus, I like Sabbath with Dio better, anyways.
