In the would-be legendary birds flying high bit, whichever idiot operates the phones played the dial tone sound effect off-cue, then faded out of his call instead of muting it (the phones run through a computer and a real dial-tone is never heard). This was the moment that ruined the Jordan bit for me.
yeah there were a few things that were blatant bits, some that were fucked up and you could tell were bits, and others that they vaguely (or not so vaguely) reference as being fake when they did it years later.
oddly enough, not doing bits was their downfall. they can't handle being real.
How does that mean it's a bit? That's always how the hangups are done. The fake dial tone is played but the person is really hung up on after being muted. Sometimes they are just faded too slow.
It's not like that's the only hint. How about the fact that this incredibly dedicated, impassioned hater that professed his obsession with the show and refusal to ever capitulate was forgotten over the course of a weekend and never heard from again?
