Origin of Opie

This probably won't work, but did Opie choose his name because he has the same effect on people as Opiate withdrawls?

He was given that moniker by family and/or friends early in life. It's common for people to be given nicknames when people care about them.

What do you think? A 20-something year old picked it out as his edgy radio name because he thought it was clever? That would be absurd.

Do you like Opie or was the joke just that bad?

It was pretty bad.

The man isn't wrong.

I think the character 'Opie' came from the Andy Griffith Show which first aired in 1960!

Our Opie has a resemblance to the kid Opie in that show (a young Ron Howard)
