I was just thinking that The Howard Stern Show, Oqie Radio and TACS are probably the worst three broadcasts available to the public. The deaths of Stern and O&A couldn't be more dismal.
I heard Howard Stern literally doing prepburger-style radio the other day. He brought up "vaccinations", pretended to discuss it like a trending topic with Robin, then surprised us listeners with a special treat: a new song parody about vaccinations starring Gary the Conqueror (formerly Gary the Retard)! It took a second to dawn on me that the vaccination discussion was nothing but a segue to the horribly unfunny song parody... and during this travesty, Robin and Fred actually sit there and pretend that nothing weird is going on. It's like North Korea.
Why on Earth hasn't Stern just retired from radio? Why bother. He did his time, he has more money than he can count, set for two lifetimes. He's got AGT on television. Do an hour podcast from his house with a fucking Zoom and a mic once a week he could still pull down 5 figures and not have to deal with any of this nonsense. So weird to me.

I hadn't thought about it, but you're right. There's been lots of posts about Legion of Skanks, The Bonfire, even Gavin's show, but I haven't seen a single thing about Ant's show other than that first day with Colin and Nick.

His segments never drag on like cumia's. Meanwhile Gaven gets a fuck load more entertainment out of people you've never seen or heard of before & that's a heap more talent.

Also like a lot of funny people he has transitioned into the "i'm going to make a difference by illuminating social issues" phase of his unfunny decline and it's fucking annoying.
Ant is a terrible lead / main presenter. Far better playing 2nd / 3rd mic and sniping lines / riffing but I think he likes the spotlight too much to step back like that.
Hopefully he makes some drastic staff changes and something clicks one day but until then it's a complete diarrhea diaper of a show.
My bet is that he has enough money from investments and savings and really doesn't care about making millions every year so he does the show HE wants so he can get a few dedicated listeners and can make a little something. Then again, I really hope his house forecloses at some point.

The last ep had 40 comments and they were mostly complaining about the audio and green screen. Wackbag does monthly listening threads. My sub ended and didn't reup. He just reads the internet and is positive about bad guests. When he left Sirius he should have agreed with OnJ they could bash each other for entertainment value.
I'm looking forward to the next transition his show takes. It's going to be 2 hours of Anthony doing what he does best and going back to his roots - he's going to be knocking tin and fabbing sheet metal ductwork on camera while he complains about his Mexican co-workers.
That'll be more entertaining than some of the shows I've seen lately.
A damn good idea for his reality show is to have him take a 9-5 gig as a tin knocker again and film him the whole time. I think that could be really funny. He's said it was his worst nightmare.

And I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but I've been listening to the O&J show since the breakup and it's really beginning to get good. Opie has really found his comfort with the shows format. Sorry guys but I can't agree that O&J stinks as much as TACS....it's just not true

But for the most part it has improved in the last 2 months. It seems like Opie and Jim got fed up with the boring adult-like discussions about the news. Now they just trash whoever is in the news. The new camera setup is also a really nice addition.
I'm not surprised in the least that Anthony's show turned out to be the drizzling shits. It always struck me as being a paid version of Live from the Compound. While that was gay enough, he's somehow managed to make it even gayer by trying to make it into some late night talk show ripoff, with his stupid desk and stupid relaxed suits with the shirt open, like he's a serious host but he knows how to let his hair down and have fun. Get fucked.
What's more surprising to me is the amount of people who keep willingly hitching their star to Anthony's shit-filled wagon. I mean, not that LOS, the lord of the hipsters, and a couple of other middling shows are big gets, but the fact that they went with Anthony at all baffles me. I assume either their success is greatly exaggerated by the people here, who hardly make up a fair representation of normal functioning society as a whole, or they just feel obligated to throw Anthony a bone because he's really struggling since his firing.
At some point I think it will come to a point where these shows either just die completely or they realize that they don't need or want Anthony and leave him for something else. If Anthony's "network" is truly a viable thing, then maybe LOS or whoever will offer to buy it and just let Anthony disappear from his own network, and rename it something else.
I think Anthony was smart enough with his money that he probably won't lose his house or something, but I don't see his show or this "network" of his in general lasting for years to come. It's going to fall apart and fade away for one reason or another. The way it is set up just doesn't make sense in the long run.
I subscribed for a year and that was enough. It was fun to have the guy back to listen to for a while, but there were so many things that I couldn't deal with anymore with the show that a renewal was out of the question. Being live has no appeal to me, uninteresting porn/stripper/whatever girls don't make good guests, times when there's no guest is just as bad, race/gun rants get old, pre/mid show advertising detracts greatly (especially given that we're paying for the content already), technical foibles...the list goes on as well.
In a time where there's nigh unlimited content available, Anthony's "brand" or whatever doesn't hold up when there's other things that are simply a better value. He can try to pass it off as not being a podcast by calling it a "webcast" or whatever else, but it's a subscription based podcast trying to find a place when there's many other things available, which aren't locked behind a paywall, that do a better job of it.
My sub ends in October. As of now I have no plans to renew it, if Ant somehow magically changes into a different person I will consider it but we all know that's not happening.

I keep subscribing and watching sporadically, mostly out of nostalgia. Not that long ago, Anthony made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt on an almost daily basis. Now I just keep watching and waiting for it to happen again but it's not there. I just don't know why changing the format got rid of all the humor.
His references have been cut down to Jaws and Columbo. He thinks he's being viewed as the host of the Tonight show and clowns for the camera. He constantly rips off Chip, which I know he says is an homage but it sucks and it's embarrassing when he does it. I really miss being legitimately entertained by Anthony.

Yeah, most episodes suck. Really suck. "droning, draining, and unlistenable"-suck. But I can't completely write it off, and anybody who does is being disingenuous. Every once in a while there's a very funny or interesting episode: Walking on Greggshells, the first Colin episode, most Jimmy episodes, Soder, DiPaolo, ESD, the one with Jackie and Stuttering John.........
Tomorrow's episode is guaranteed to be worth a watch, too. I'll probably re-sub just for it, as I'm a big Artie Lange fan.
In hindsight, Anthony should have thrown all the money he could have at Soder. I don't think Dan would have taken the gig, as he's got his eye on bigger/more mainstream things, but it would have been worth a shot. I think it would have been the only thing this side of hiring Jimmy that would have made TACS listenable on a daily basis.

For the most part, yes. Anthony's great when he has other people to bounce off, something pretty much everyone else has pointed out already. He had no choice, though. He had to ride the popularity he had on the show for as long as possible to maintain his lifestyle.
I still think that both him and Opie should bury the hatchet and Opie should become a semi-regular on TACS. This will: (1) rejuvenate the subscribers; (2) allow us to see the two of them interacting, something we couldn't do on O&A; and (hopefully) (3) allow them to become comfortable with each other again and put on a great show.
It's a win-win. Maybe Opie will stop aging so fast and Anthony will enjoy his first slice of humble pie when he admits that he needs his mildly irritating former partner to be as entertaining as he was. It's a vain hope, but the possibility of seeing a new TACS episode titled "Opie & Anthony" is the only thing that keeps me coming back.
I wonder what people really think will happen if Opie and Anthony magically get back together. Do you think radio gold will just be created at that moment? Do we forget how terrible the show was becoming well before Anthony was fired?

I'm looking forward to the next transition his show takes. It's going to be 2 hours of Anthony doing what he does best and going back to his roots - he's going to be knocking tin and fabbing sheet metal ductwork on camera while he complains about his Mexican co-workers.
That'll be more entertaining than some of the shows I've seen lately.

I've gotten more enjoyment from the Gavin McInnes Show than I have from TACS in 14 months.
TACS is simply one of the worst things going on right now. Just Anthony in arrested development, withering away as a human being, getting worse at the things he used to be good at.
LOS is infinitely funnier and Gavin is better at reactionary politics. Anthony is effectively redundant on his own network.

I can't bring myself to listen to TACS. Out of the hours I've spent listening on YouTube to the Best of...if that's the best then that show stinks.
And I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but I've been listening to the O&J show since the breakup and it's really beginning to get good. Opie has really found his comfort with the shows format. Sorry guys but I can't agree that O&J stinks as much as TACS....it's just not true

But for the most part it has improved in the last 2 months. It seems like Opie and Jim got fed up with the boring adult-like discussions about the news. Now they just trash whoever is in the news. The new camera setup is also a really nice addition.

I'm not surprised in the least that Anthony's show turned out to be the drizzling shits. It always struck me as being a paid version of Live from the Compound. While that was gay enough, he's somehow managed to make it even gayer by trying to make it into some late night talk show ripoff, with his stupid desk and stupid relaxed suits with the shirt open, like he's a serious host but he knows how to let his hair down and have fun. Get fucked.
What's more surprising to me is the amount of people who keep willingly hitching their star to Anthony's shit-filled wagon. I mean, not that LOS, the lord of the hipsters, and a couple of other middling shows are big gets, but the fact that they went with Anthony at all baffles me. I assume either their success is greatly exaggerated by the people here, who hardly make up a fair representation of normal functioning society as a whole, or they just feel obligated to throw Anthony a bone because he's really struggling since his firing.
At some point I think it will come to a point where these shows either just die completely or they realize that they don't need or want Anthony and leave him for something else. If Anthony's "network" is truly a viable thing, then maybe LOS or whoever will offer to buy it and just let Anthony disappear from his own network, and rename it something else.
I think Anthony was smart enough with his money that he probably won't lose his house or something, but I don't see his show or this "network" of his in general lasting for years to come. It's going to fall apart and fade away for one reason or another. The way it is set up just doesn't make sense in the long run.

I subscribed for a year and that was enough. It was fun to have the guy back to listen to for a while, but there were so many things that I couldn't deal with anymore with the show that a renewal was out of the question. Being live has no appeal to me, uninteresting porn/stripper/whatever girls don't make good guests, times when there's no guest is just as bad, race/gun rants get old, pre/mid show advertising detracts greatly (especially given that we're paying for the content already), technical foibles...the list goes on as well.
In a time where there's nigh unlimited content available, Anthony's "brand" or whatever doesn't hold up when there's other things that are simply a better value. He can try to pass it off as not being a podcast by calling it a "webcast" or whatever else, but it's a subscription based podcast trying to find a place when there's many other things available, which aren't locked behind a paywall, that do a better job of it.

Yes it sucks. Ant is an all time funny person to me and provided me with so many laughs and great bits I can go back and listen to, but TACS is just god awful. Even the few bits that are any good still suck, they're just not as bad as the rest of the show.

The ship has sailed. The entire environment and all the players from the O&A world have all seriously gone downhill. And there's no shortage of options for media now. Completely different from when they were forced off WNEW. That was a real quandary for an O&A fan. Now its been so awful since even before Ant's exit...why bother at all. Move on. And they all love the continued attention, good or bad (especially Opie), they either think they still have heat, or they enjoy the "haters" giving attention as well. What would be great would be if this place and every other online outlet to them just dried up. That would get the point across to them, that they fucked up that badly and ruined a good thing.

I keep subscribing and watching sporadically, mostly out of nostalgia. Not that long ago, Anthony made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt on an almost daily basis. Now I just keep watching and waiting for it to happen again but it's not there. I just don't know why changing the format got rid of all the humor.
His references have been cut down to Jaws and Columbo. He thinks he's being viewed as the host of the Tonight show and clowns for the camera. He constantly rips off Chip, which I know he says is an homage but it sucks and it's embarrassing when he does it. I really miss being legitimately entertained by Anthony.

Yeah, most episodes suck. Really suck. "droning, draining, and unlistenable"-suck. But I can't completely write it off, and anybody who does is being disingenuous. Every once in a while there's a very funny or interesting episode: Walking on Greggshells, the first Colin episode, most Jimmy episodes, Soder, DiPaolo, ESD, the one with Jackie and Stuttering John.........
Tomorrow's episode is guaranteed to be worth a watch, too. I'll probably re-sub just for it, as I'm a big Artie Lange fan.
In hindsight, Anthony should have thrown all the money he could have at Soder. I don't think Dan would have taken the gig, as he's got his eye on bigger/more mainstream things, but it would have been worth a shot. I think it would have been the only thing this side of hiring Jimmy that would have made TACS listenable on a daily basis.
Anthony clearly can't get and keep listeners by himself.

For the most part, yes. Anthony's great when he has other people to bounce off, something pretty much everyone else has pointed out already. He had no choice, though. He had to ride the popularity he had on the show for as long as possible to maintain his lifestyle.
I still think that both him and Opie should bury the hatchet and Opie should become a semi-regular on TACS. This will: (1) rejuvenate the subscribers; (2) allow us to see the two of them interacting, something we couldn't do on O&A; and (hopefully) (3) allow them to become comfortable with each other again and put on a great show.
It's a win-win. Maybe Opie will stop aging so fast and Anthony will enjoy his first slice of humble pie when he admits that he needs his mildly irritating former partner to be as entertaining as he was. It's a vain hope, but the possibility of seeing a new TACS episode titled "Opie & Anthony" is the only thing that keeps me coming back.

I think after the move to the city the show's quality has improved. I definitely enjoyed it, and not to mention TGMS & LOS, which is awesome too. The only thing that i hate is Rat's incompetence and his inability to admit when he fucked up, it's so fucking infuriating. I wish Ant would hire a professional.
And wow, so many haters here, i would rather watch TACS than listening to O&J anyday.

As a former O&A fan who always thought Ant was the funniest one - of course I subscribed to TACS.
I respect Ant for picking himself up after his firing and at least trying to do it himself without the backing of a billion dollar corporation.
All this hatred and negativity towards Ant baffles me. I do wish he would listen to the fans more and honor their requests but - I like Ant, he likes the same movies, tv shows, shit as I do.
Moreover, I do hate Opie and want to see him fail and Ant succeed. That for me is reason enough to stay subscribed. My hatred for Opie.

I'll chime in and say I disagree. I like Ant's show when he's got good guests on, and for the most part it's pretty decent even without a good guest. Yes, there are times I just turn it off because it's not doing anything for me, but that happens with literally every podcast/radio show I enjoy.
But Cumia has brought on the Skanks and they fucking rock. Seriously, go listen to their free catalog. They're fucking fantastic.
I don't listen to Gavin that often but man they guy knows how to be entertaining. If I've ran out of things to listen to I'll put him on and I'm never dissapointed. If you take him seriously you're not understanding the character he's portraying.
So yeah, I like TACS, I'll even keep paying for it. I have money and I like to support the entertainment that engages me. I will admit, however, I was not going to renew my sub until the Skanks were signed, and honestly, Ant's show picked up right around then too.
