Sam confirms Stengels run the station
40 2015-09-08 by highflyin
On today's show, about 15 minutes in, Sam mentions that Wicky and those two fat cocksucker's The Stengels were the ones that approached him with the time slot change and did their best "car salesman" sales pitch on why it's best for him and the channel to move to 9.
I'd post a link for audio but it hasn't been posted to Youtube yet.

Sam dedicated 11 years of his life to O&A and he got passed ovah because of a couple of outsider fat fucks. It's probably the funniest thing they've ever done.

Ron warned him about this.
25 IggysGlove 2015-09-08
Can you imagine if Sam's next show the glass breaks and we get a classic ronnie b run in. He cuts a mean promo on those fat dorks.
17 [deleted] 2015-09-08
Ron hates the Stengels? As if I needed another reason to love Ronnie and hate the Stengels.
9 IggysGlove 2015-09-08
Well he plays up heat between em. I don't know what's a work or a shoot but either way it's in character to cut a hot promo on them stangle boys from new York City.
17 highflyin 2015-09-08
I think he really dislikes them and sees the stupidity in having them run the channel. He plays it off as if he's joking but I honestly think he's such a radio guy he dislikes having these assclowns in there.
It's like a worked-shoot.

He's building up the big match where the Stengels take on the returning Sassy Boys.

It's the way Wiki wanted it.
11 mikestl1988 2015-09-08
Well its not the way sammy branmuffins wants it!!!!
1 Weirdfellas 2015-09-08
Is there anything else....you can tell me about the Stangels.
2 Joemomma101 2015-09-08
Exactly. And what they also wanted was for Anthony to be gone... His firing had NOTHING to do with his tweets.
4 kgt5003 2015-09-08
His firing had everything to do with the tweets. If he didn't send those tweets they would have let him finish his contract and then they'd either not re-sign him or they'd offer him an embarrassingly low re-signing contract so he'd either not accept and leave on his own or he'd accept and they'd get him for cheap enough that it wouldn't matter that he's still there. The fact that he sent out those tweets is exactly why he was fired. Sure, they might have had a problem with his ranting and drinking and sick days, etc. for a while but he gave them grounds for a termination when he otherwise would have simply been not re-signed.
0 baraksobamas 2015-09-08
Thats what they WANT you to think.

Poor Sam, he doesn't deserve the shit that he gets here.
33 majestik6 2015-09-08
Agreed. Sam Roberts, Denny, Jim and E-Rock are all better at radio than Opie.
29 With_Clean_Hands 2015-09-08
A good portion of the people they jocktobered over the years are better at radio than Opie.
14 buttriot 2015-09-08
I can't even listen to old jocktobers anymore because everything Opie says against the shows is literally a criticism on himself.
9 KDkid18 2015-09-08
Jocktober is a big reason Sam can't get a terrestrial job and Opie put him up to it. Now Opie is cleaning house, if he could get away with replacing Jimmy, he would.
2 MuleJuiceMcQuaid 2015-09-08
Give it another year.

Once he made fun of a host acting surprised and doing this really annoying high pitched voice while he himself was unknowingly doing the sane thing. I hope he dies

this tbh fam smh
2 I_Hate_Knickers 2015-09-08
And he knows it. He always has. Remember when they did it back then, when he'd rant about their hackery all the while he was protected by the real talent surrounding him. It's like everyone here has been saying for a while. He attacks what he himself is with the most venom. It's his only defence because he is udderly useless.
7 Knightscribe 2015-09-08
Yes he does.

18 monkdick 2015-09-08
Good for Sam for announcing that on air. He's probably not happy with the move. Did he say why they said it was best for him to move to 9?
I'm assuming, in truth, so it will be easier for them to say, "See Sam Roberts Show has no listeners. We should just go ahead and get rid of it." Aaand one more large part of the old show will be gone. Now let's just hope them doing the same to Opie is in the works.
26 TheDarkFezRises 2015-09-08
I wonder if Sam mentioned them by name to ramp up the hate machine against them even more. He may be a little faggot, but he's a cunning little faggot who knows how to stir up some shit.
19 FootThingOnHisFoot 2015-09-08
that's why i like him
12 thrillated 2015-09-08
Did they really need the extra help with that though?
4 [deleted] 2015-09-08
Sam said he'd rather do the show at any time besides noon because he doesn't want to compete with Bennington.
4 highflyin 2015-09-08
He said he was at a "7" on a scale of 1-10 with being happy about the move. He's mostly happy he's not against Bennington anymore. I'd assume he's trying to make lemonade out of lemons with the move and putting his best forward. It'd be suicide to bash the timeslot and channel so I understand why he keeps putting a positive spin on it.
One can only hope he goes full on weirdo night show like the old days of Ron and Fez.
15 BigDummy666 2015-09-08
Well, I didn't need another reason to hate these fat fucks, but I'll take it.
13 GWARscientist 2015-09-08
Holy shit I just heard him say it , came here to see if anybody else did.
The Stangels are management. I remember Opie asking them if something was OK to put over the air. Now it makes sense.
12 TheDarkFezRises 2015-09-08
The corporate incompetence is staggering. Giving control of a channel to a couple of useless fat fucks whose sole accomplishment is writing shitty top ten lists, and who want to leave to do a TV show at the first opportunity they get.
11 Battler4321 2015-09-08
To be fair, Sam's show was absolutely awful. It was basically TMZ Radio with Z listers.

"those two fat cocksuckers" is fucking killing me. It hit me just right. I have no idea why but I'm fucking crying right now. My abs hurt from laughing.
2 I_Hate_Knickers 2015-09-08
Do you have a photo of your abs? I'd like to see then on behalf of a friend.

Since we're on this sub I thought it went without saying that my abs are under a 20 lb gut.

They must have 19 years radio experience!
5 kevin121312 2015-09-08
wow, that's bullshit. These assholes are in there less than a year and have already demoted Sam and turned OnJ into SNL lite. Opie mentioned that they had a year contract. Then what? They negotiate for more money or power? I have a feeling that they'll get whatever they want when the time comes. Sam should jump ship now. This is a real low blow.
3 hautebird 2015-09-08
I don't listen to the show but for about fifteen minutes when I drive home to walk the dog at lunchtime. I'm less likely to hear a second of it now. Great work, Stengels!

The Stengels were 100% the wrong people to bring in and give control of the show to. They're just not a good fit AT ALL. Even if Opie wants the show to go in a new direction, he already has a fan base expecting a show at least similar to the O&A show and Jimmy is there still trying his best to be the same old Jim. The Stengels are just not a good fit at all.
From their bad bits and really contributing nothing, to them both telling fake stories and being awful on the mic, to them guffawing at moderately funny Jim lines like they're at a Richard Pryor show...it's just not a good fit.
1 highflyin 2015-09-08
Didn't the Stengels control Letterman during the years when he was nowhere close to first place in the ratings?
1 opieanthonyjim 2015-09-08
Yeah, mid 2000s. Even if it were when he was good, that doesn't qualify them to have anything to do with a radio show. It's clear they don't fit. If you listen to just the first hour of every show its painfully obvious. Too bad opie is blinded by being friends with them and them having been the head writers of letterman, which holds a certain cache.
2 SentrySappinMahSpy 2015-09-08
What I hate is that Opie has for years insulted the 12 pm time slot. Yet they had Ron and Fez there, and now Bennington is there.
Of course, he has to say "Ron Bennington makes it work". Way to walk back your hate, ope.
12 pm is not a bad slot in radio. Rush Limbaugh had made millions in that slot. Who listens to radio at night other than truck drivers?
1 highflyin 2015-09-08
In the 90's and 2000's? A lot of people listened late at night. It was just something to do and you got into a show.
In 2015? With smart phones, Twitter, Netflix, better shows on TV on demand, and everyone working their ass off just to make ends meet nobody has time to listen at 9pm anymore.
2 pj530i 2015-09-08
Sirius has on demand too. I never listen to any of the shows live. However, I wouldn't listen to SRSS if it was broadcast from the next cubicle over..
1 highflyin 2015-09-08
I often listen to 99% of talk radio a day behind, however, Sam's show is so content driven that it's mostly old news by the time I get to it. His timeslot and type of show require live listening.
1 SentrySappinMahSpy 2015-09-08
On demand is fine, but for shows take calls, they kind of need people listening live.
1 onemancrimespree 2015-09-08
What show? I don't listen to this bullshit, I come here for the rude remarks. Are you talking about Opie Radio or is he no longer on there? Are you talking about Sam's show?
1 LuxReflexio 2015-09-08
Sam's show is fucking awful, so who cares.
Ron should be at the noon slot on the channel.
0 Cake_Horn_ 2015-09-08
I can't remember last time I listened to O & J. Probably when Colin Quinn was on Stangel brothers stink as does Opie & Jimmy. I like Jimmy but even he can't make the show listenable. It's horrible.
