Brian C's comment has 7 favorites though, but he only has 13 followers. Opie only has 13 favorites for his tweet but he has 325k followers. Something isn't adding up. Pretty clear that Brian C is paying for followers.
Late to this particular party but I just wanted to chime in with my 2 cents. I think that it's more likely that Opie is the one paying for followers and not Brian C.
All he cares about is a viral video. I don't understand, he already has a global radio show. How much attention or legitimacy that he's "funny" does this man need.
Global? No one listens to that shit. He is less famous than people whose cute baby and dog videos make it on the Ellen DeGeneres show. That's why he needs a viral video.
Im just saying, technically it's available all over the planet. I can see some schmoe that works at a donut shop desperate to go viral, but this guy is already famous(ish) and has plenty of fans & such. I just don't get what's missing for him.
Opie is not famous. I hate to break it to you, but neither him nor anthony are "famous". Nobody I know has a clue who either is, nor have most them seen Norton's standup.
Most people under 40 don't have a fucking clue who any of them are - and don't care. Howard Stern was legit famous, and now he's "That guy my grandfather listened to" for anyone in their 20's. Opie has a small handful of die hard listeners, and getting smaller every day - same for Anthony. Let's see Opie go on a talk show now, or even get asked to podcasts - that phone ain't ringing. Anthony will probably do the rounds of podcasts, because he's in that world now, and they exchange appearances, so he'll do it.
Both of them are basically keeping busy until retirement. It's over, for both of them. They may have still had a shot together, if they still had a relationship, but that dream is dead. They peaked - it's all downhill from here.
That's why Opie will never get a viral video - he's not interesting, funny, nor famous. Nobody cares.
I agree in that I think it's ridiculous that one of the most famous shock jocks in history is so obsessed with this social media goofball shit, but that's not how Opie sees it. He's a multi-millionaire with a famous radio show that was at one point catching up to Stern in terms of popularity and he's able to be broadcast to millions of people around the world through satellite radio and the Internet. He lives in a Trump penthouse in Manhattan with a young trophy wife and he could probably retire now and live the rest of his life filthy rich.
But all of that comes in second to going "viral." Because getting a stupid Youtube video to go viral, like any asshole on the planet can do with just a cat and a phone, is more important than any of that. A viral video would validate his career, in his mind. It would prove that people are there to laugh at something HE did, as opposed to something Opie & ANTHONY, and Jimmy, did.
I get his obsession with this, to a degree. If I was always known as the lesser part of a duo, it would eat at me, as well. But I am also self-aware, as most of us are, and if we really knew that we more or less flat out lucky to be in the right place at the right time, I'd shut my fucking mouth, thank god that I'm stinking rich in spite of my laziness and stupidity, and ride the train until it ends.
Opie is too autistic to realize that he doesn't have some hidden talent that has yet to be unleashed. He isn't a master troll. He isn't a student of people and psychology. He isn't witty or funny or even obnoxious enough to get attention. He just stinks, and his best years are well behind him. He doesn't understand the Internet, despite being obsessed with it. And the harder he tries to get hip with these cool cat kids and their bippin and boppin, the more embarassing it becomes.
Yep. They're very much in the ' maintaining ' stage of their respective careers. It won't get better so just try to hang on until retirement. They were at their biggest years ago. The only things getting bigger these days are Opie's breasts.
Not to mention that the very concept of a "viral video" is very 2010. User generated content comes and goes so quickly that there's not a single thing the internet can give us that'll keep our attention for longer than an afternoon. Remember Double Rainbow guy or Drinking out of Cups Guy or Homeless Ted Williams? Those viral videos were literally talked about and referenced at school for a solid couple of weeks.
I almost want him to get a viral video just so it can lead to nothing, as viral videos always do, and he can feel how utterly pointless all of his wasted effort was.
This fucking autistic does not even realize how much of a fucking hacky pandering fucktard he comes across as.
Hey grandpa, you sure do have your pulse on the youth of America. Getting topical means music breaks on whatever documen-tree Opie watched when his wife let him (When she was passed out drunk, and he had real freedom to watch something besides a Kardashian or Caitlyn Jenner show)
He could have gone viral (maybe) a while ago if he made a dedicated channel to post the whole radio show on back when it was good. But he did not do that.

Planet Virus. HIV if we're lucky.

ViralSpiral put it into their "Viral Meter" and gave Opie the report. This is exactly why they recruited him.

He's clearly sending himself up here, obviously a joke.

lol, Brian C in the comments: "Early "indicators" say that you're an embarrassment to comedy."

He must be so jealous of Jimmy's chip videos going viral without even trying.

To steal a line from a john and jeff jocktober, if a radio show broadcasts sound, but no one is listening, is it really a radio show?

I don't disagree with any of this. Good observation.

It's weird. Opie technically made it to the top of his field. He made millions. But that's somehow not enough.
2 Weirdfellas 2015-09-08
He's like the Gordon Gekko of not being funny.
Blue Horseshoe loves Harry Hater.

By viral, I'd think it would get mirrored and titled "Hack radio host tries to be funny, and fails miserably."
13 JCPatrick 2015-09-08
But he absolutely doesn't care about going viral or even promoting his videos remember

Opie is too stupid, he would nuke mankind 1000 times just because it may come out different the next time he tries.
He does not realize he is a hack fuck, and cannot recognize that Ant and Jim made him.
He thinks he can win the nuclear war alone, despite the fact 95% of his missiles have left him (us) and are launching at him.
He sits in a nuclear crater swearing he won, reminds me of Baghdad Bob.

What a fucking weirdo this guy is. Can't believe I ever enjoyed listening to a show that he was 50% of.

The Mt. Mckinley one has 10 retweets and 24 favorites. I'll pay the -450 that it doesn't go viral.
