The Bonfire

I know it's been said before but I just want to reiterate - The Bonfire with Dan Soder & Big Jay is fantastic. Two funny guys in their 30s just shooting the shit. No stupid drama just fun. Ohh and they're actually friends too. What a concept.

Edit 1: Old references are going back to the early 90s and not friggin Mayberry. Which is nice, since I was actually born and can relate.

Edit 2: A whole show without a single Twitter mention

Edit 3: Big Jay with a Deftones reference - love that scumbag 90s music haha

Edit 4: Let's get this subreddit going? https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBonfire

Agreed. After being a comedy fan for so long it's easy to be jaded and not find a lot of things funny, but when Jay and Dan get going on a riff I find myself belly laughing sometimes.

Big Jay is just hilarious. Legion of Skanks is also funny because of him. And despite Sherrod not being the greatest, Race Wars is a good one because of Kurt. The references Jay and Kurt drop are brilliant.

And despite Sherrod not being the greatest

That's like saying Jimmy isn't the AIDSiest.

belly laughing

what are you 5?

Big Jay saying Deftones is his love making music cracked me up. This 38 year old man has the musical taste of 15 year old me.

Althought the deftones are just about the only band from then who is still around and putting out good music.

Yea but digital bath is a smooth tune to fuck to. So I agree with him there

In high school, I went with "7 words." Slightly different mood, I guess.

I thought I was the only fuck that would fuck to digital bath, who knew

You don't want to hear about what's blowing up on Twitter or want to discuss the hot viral videos? You can't appreciate a good sunset pic on Instagram?! No interest in trying to get some lame "exclusive" comment out of some D-List has been?!?! Obviously the show has passed you by. Honestly, haters like you don't know what good radio is and you have no idea what people really want to hear.

What's crazy to me is that they don't have a stable of 6-7 comedians sitting in on the show to cover up their complete lack of talent.

Jay and Dan clearly haven't been doing radio since they were 18.

Five words for you: Management loves the new show.

Their take on the Canadian comic getting the glass thrown at him was so fucking funny that I actually had to pull over. Not in the "Hey O and A I almost crashed my car"way. This really happened.

That sound... "Gadoosh"

I love how long he stays doubled over.

It is, i finally got around to listening and i love it

The Corey Haim/Feldman chunk was great.

Haimster and Feldog?

Yeah I was just listening to that. They could probably riff on them for an entire week.

It's somehow even worse than I could have imagined

Thank you. Just listened earlier today and meant to find this.

And holy shit, the ripoff Michael Jackson reference was spot on.

I know this sounds a bit dramatic, but given the shit state of comedy talk radio these days, there's an almost superhero-esque, "We desperately needed someone to fly in, make with the funny, and save the day. And they did!" quality to it.

I hope they go full-time, and I hope the show.........wait for it...........catches fire (tss), and Sirius tosses Titsy McSwagger out on his dimpled Irish ass.

Best show on Sirius. Period.

sniff

I've never been impressed by Soder before I listened to the Bonfire, but him and Jay work really well together.

This is the best show out right now.

I started episode 4 earlier and within the first 5 minutes laughed at least 3 times.

Has Opie been on yet?

Can't wait for him to come on and act like the show was his idea.

He kicked them out of the Opieradio studio after 5 episodes. It's Sirius's studio, but I guess he can make that call. He's very jealous.

guys in their 30s

SAY NO MORE!

They were fine without taking calls, too.

SNOWAAAYYYY!!

IT's really good aside from the sound effects guy, I hope they just get rid of that shit and let them be funny.

Their sound effects guy is quick though, a lot quicker than Erock ever was.

"you think i cant get a gurl?! look at this bicep!"

keep that one

Last Wednesday show was their best so far and you can really see the potential from it

I actually get excited for The Bonfire, is this what you 50 year old fat truckers felt like listening to O&A 19 years ago?

fuck you maaaaaaan. i'm only 39

yup

I like it, but Soder's woman voice gets annoying as fuck. He uses it CONSTANTLY and I've only found it funny when he was doing a Nancy Grace impression. It's become a crutch for him. An unfunny crutch. Other than that, I like the show.

I gave it a few shots but I can't get passed Soder's voice. It's so oppressive. It's like having a subwoofer blaring constantly in your skull. Jay's voice and vibe are a delight, but Soder is just too much.

Turn your bass down?

And you listened to Tits voice for how many years... Sure.

I wouldn't be so sure that they are actually friends still.. There was a lot of drama that went down with their negotiation of their contracts. I'm sure that has taken a toll on their friendship.

You do realize they are only doing 3 hours a week right? If they had to do 20 hours per week like O&A used to, I guarantee they would mention Twitter...
