it did bug me the way old O&A clips have this heightened atmosphere of everybody have to strain really hard to make a joke or bash somebody else in the room.

the upside was that some jokes were really really funny.

but they're kinda exhausting to listen to. it's related to what makes Jimmy's standup so much less enjoyable than him shooting the shit with Ant and doing characters that only make sense to longtime O&A fans.

I think it's helpful that the O&A/Comedy Cellar gang isn't a bunch of girly faggots. but those non-faggots in a familiar, comfortable atmosphere makes better listening than a tank of piranhas.

You covered this, but fucking with callers or having bad guest days are what I miss most about the old show. There's always some idiot out there eager to call in to a radio show and share their expertise on current events, but the staff seemed to stop seeking them out in recent years.
