XM Archives

This has probably been discussed, but can someone shed some light?

Who owns the content of the prior shows on XM? Do either Opie or Anthony have an piece of the archives or does XM own them?

Stern has an entire channel based on archived shows.

I don't think they ever negotiated to own their own content hence why they don't care if people pirate it.

they used to have a podcast that featured old clips of O&A But when Ant found out They still played his clips after he was fired he got pissed and made them remove it

I would be fucking angry, too. Not good enough to have around but okay to play my shit? Fuck that.

It stopped being his when it went into the mics at Sirius. That is how contracts work.

Why? It isn't his shit. He doesn't own the content and he wasn't fired for what he said on the radio. If anything it was good for Anthony and probably would help him keep subscribers, stay relivent, and attract new listeners to his own channel. It was basically free advertising for him. Anthony being upset about it was completely stupid he could only gain from still being played on sxm. But like always Anthony finds a way to sabotage himself. He's allowed his issues with sxm and Opie to get in the way from something that probably helped him.

If him and Opie weren't so God damn apathetic over the years, and decided to do more than just phone shows in with no prep they'd of had a little foresight and would own there material like Howard does. Say what you want but Stern is a way better businessman than Cumia and Opie could ever be.

If I was Anthony and starting a new show/network I'd want people to hear my voice all over the place, especially on best of clips. Anything to help gain subscribers and to keep your name out there. Him and Kieth are absolute idiots sometimes. It was all old material anyway so it's not like it's hindering anything either. He can only gain from it but of course instead of using the Opie and Anthony podcast as a tool to further his exposure he acts like a childish douchebag and throws a fit. Anthony deserves to fail.

Bullshit. SXM owns that audio and he has no power over them.

I'd be shocked if XM doesn't own everything that was broadcast via their service.

Ant has suggested as much when they started playing the "Decade of Dominance" clips awhile back.
