i tried posting this in r/comedy but fuck that place. I've never posted there and it seems boring. This is one of Reddits true comedy forums. Now I know a quarter of you are Cumia acolytes that will call me a "lib" and continue to whine about how hard the white man has it these days. Another quarter will be cunty little hall monitors and perhaps complain that this isn't a proper forum or whatever (you people are fucking fags), another quarter will tell me tldr (cuz you are barely literate, or perhaps cuz you are actually correct). But maybe the last quarter would like to weigh in on this monumental moment in comedy history. Jon Stewart leaving was crazy and sad and historic last night, hopefully Colberts show will fill that void

Who else is anticipating this show at almost scary levels? I am so excited and scared of this show. In my mind Colbert is probably the brightest and most quick witted entertainer in the history of show business and I am probably one of his biggest fans. It sucks to lose his character but I know for a fact he can do fine without it. The man is literally a genius, he makes anything and everything hilarious, and always does it in a smart way. The best part is that he isn't pretentious about it either. He would have no problem with a fart joke (only he would make that fart joke really clever). He also doesn't pander to the uptight and awful liberals who want to turn everything into a problem (remember Suey Park or when he had that Gamer Gate chick on his show? He handled all of that amazingly) So here's what I'm thinking when it comes to him taking over for Letterman. I am admittedly a little scared! He's gonna be going head to head with that adorable, safe, and fun for the whole family Jimmy Fallon. Now I like Fallon and nothing against him but everything I've seen on that show (and I admit I've barely ever watched it) is always the lamest, most cookie cutter, celebrity pandering, safest crap I've ever seen. Those skits with JT are never funny, they're just "cutesy", and one time I watched hm play giant sized beer pong with the awful "rapper" Pitbull. It terrifies me that the network will want Colbert to play that same game. Luckily I trust Colbert. What I'm praying for is the complete opposite of Fallon. The ideal Late Show will actually consist of Stephen LOSING in the overall ratings. The kicker though is that he DOMINATES in the 18-40 demographic. I pray he doesn't dumb anything down, and books guests more along the lines of his old show, of the Daily Show, of Bill Mahers show, of the WTF podcast. Let Fallon interview the Kardashians and joke about that kind of nonsense while Colbert does a show for grown ups and smart people. Let the teenage girls and old grandparents watch Fallon and have intellectuals and elites enjoy Colbert. Lose in the ratings (cuz the general public are absolute morons) but book all the big time sponsors. Book authors, true artists, and politicians. If he has an actor On do not let them go off a script with the cheesy, canned, and planned ahead of time questions ("so Angelina I heard you love doing tae Bo in your spare time blah blah blah") let the interviews be more long form like a podcast. Let the comedians and music acts do 2 songs or a double long set. I'm just praying he doesn't follow the same, tired, and lame late night routine that everyone copies. If anyone is capable of reinventing late night, Colbert is the guy!
