Has Breuer ever talked about this? A "Clerks" TV pilot was made in 1995 without Kevin Smith's knowledge. Stars pre-SNL Jim Breuer.

holy shit, that sitcom setup, the laugh track...kevin smith must have lost his shit

Wow! I heard about this but never knew they put it online! Great find! I'm watching it now & it is so unbelievably shitty! Why does Dante have a towel on his shoulder like a bartender? Never seen a convenience store employee with one of those.

As mentioned, I heard Breuer mention it on his WTF. I recall he even got Kevin Smith's name wrong. He probably doesn't know the movie "clerks" from anything else. He's probably done a ton of shitty pilots that never got picked up, probably was as big of a deal to him as him voicing the cockroach in "Titan AE"

Say 'probably' more

tssss probably more.

You fuckin' BURIED that cocksucka!

He proceeded to proceed to say probably

He mentioned auditioning for it on his WTF. Didn't say it was a tv show.

I thought he fucked up and meant Mallrats, when he said Clerks, since Clerks was a super cheap indie film.

It wasn't made withou this knowledge it was made without his input.

The wiki page claims they didn't inform him about it being filmed. The original "Clerks" guys auditioned for it, so I guess he did at least know second hand.

I know most of you hate Breuer but I actually like him from the old shows. It may have to do with the Long Island stuff since I related but The pizza man saga was funny as shit to me. Also Half Baked.

Breuer is the best , I have no idea why people hate him, love to seem go on Anthony's show.

Same. I really enjoyed him and Anthony talking about LI because it was the same for me but even besides that Breuer was great with his voices or when he spoke about his crazy dad

Hes a great story teller. I think his christmas song and some of his more recent stuff has annoyed people here. Some of his old standup is hilarious and I still enjoy him on the show.

I saw him in March this year, fucking great, really original and had his own personality, great jokes, stories, and Im actually a fan of his animated personality and I guess voices and sounds.

The Jesus, wife, and parody song stuff is a detractor. His family stories (some are alright) and metallica stuff stink as well. Other than that he's not entirely on or off my shit list. Also, goat boy sucks dick.

He's hated because he's not funny, his act is a copy of Dane cook and had been for a while, he rambles and makes up inane stories that are just moronic while annoying everyone.

Also Kevin Smith knew about this, he had to know so they could call it clerks or are you people this stupid as to believe breuer?

He was established and on TV when Dane Cook was in high school.

Yes with a different act, and established is a stretch. He can make a living doing small venues but lets not act like hes a superstar

SNL isn't established? Okay

his act is a copy of Dane cook

Lol...

I was GOING to say IT wasn't so bad, BUT then I watched TWO MORE minutes!!

A company will TAKE A chance on that DRECK, yet NO one will GIVE Scorch a NATIONAL AUDIENCE?? That IS not P.F.G.!

Considering the time period, and the other shit that was being made then, it's not half bad.

It's still shit, but it wasn't as bad as some of the shit that got green-lighted.

My thoughts exactly, ten year old me would of watched.

Clerks (1995 Live-Action TV Pilot) (from Lostmedia wikia):

Scene From The Clerks TV Pilot An older internet site had a review of it, complete with pictures (said site has since disappeared, though it survives via the Wayback Machine) and one review IMDb (dated 2006) claims that 3 minutes of footage is available online if one is "lucky enough" to find it. According to another imdb user, Smith and company considered adding to the the 10th anniversary Clerks X DVD set, but couldn't even make it through a few minutes and shut it off. Some even claim Smith himself auctioned off the master copy. Whether it'll surface via bootleg or an official release has yet to be seen. UPDATE: On jan/25/2015 an anonymous user uploaded the full pilot to vid.me Interesting: Dilbert Fox Live Action Pilot (1997) | Sailor Moon (1993 Animated/Live-Action Pilot) | Columbia Pictures Television "Cokeburst" (and Other Rare Closing Logos) | ImprovOlympic Pilot (Unaired 1988 TV Comedy Pilot)

It's like a show where every character is the Opester.

I made it through two minutes. My takeaway: Marlboro were once $1.69 a pack.

Smith talked about it. He said the guys who played Dante and Randall in the movie auditioned and they were turned down (They ended up being happy not getting it).

Weird to see that it has surfaced. Watched the first three minutes and it was awful. Smith told a story of how once he heard of the live action piolet he offered to write a script for it (I think he said that the piolet was close to being filmed so he figured if they were going to do it anyway he might as well try to make it decent). They said they would look at his script and when they did they said his script would make a good B-Story (He ended up using the idea in the Clerks Animated series).

Smith also held the rights to Jay and Silent Bob (Something Mirimax gave him since they saw no value in it) so he requested that they not use his characters so they took out Silent Bob and changed Jay to Ray.

4 minutes in this looks like shit, they basically did everything Hollywood does bad and fucked it into Clerks.

Piolet? What, are you hooked on phonics or sumpthin?

was the cheat sheet on how to spell 'pilot' in the title not helpful enough?

Fuck me, my spell check was off for some reason and I just fucked up.

Nice cameo by a young Keri (Felicity) Russell.

This was the highlight of the show, oof.

I don't think this is any worse than Roseanne, which ran for 9 seasons. Besides his girlfriend inexplicably showing up at his job, and it baring little resemblance to the film, it appears no worse than other sitcoms

To paraphrase Norm MacDonald - the critics are divided: Some call it shit, and the others call it fucking shit.

It's bad, but I liked that moment when Breuer mimed hanging himself. It wasn't a bad gag.

Two words. Goat Boy. Hilarious on SNL.
