Thoughts on the "new" TACS show?

Decided to watch a whole show for once. For the last few weeks I've just been skipping through to see when some guests were on or some bits that were mentioned on here. However, over the last month I had decided that, even though I watch the occasional TACS segment and most of the LoS, I was done giving money to Ant as he had became such an overly-sensitive, hate-filled douche, and would just torrent whatever I wanted when this recent sub runs out.

I've been completely against Ant as much as anyone on here with the whole bombing/doxing shit and all his shit on Twitter and Periscope and how bad his show has become in recent months. But, I thought I'll give him one last chance to turn the corner, based on this "new" NY-studio setup.

The new setup looks a bit like a public access TV show - but I guess the studio isn't big enough for a complete wide-shot with everyone. But, Rat or whoever directs the show does a good enough job that it's never an issue switching between shots and it works well.

I must say, the show itself was pretty good. He started off with Colin and DiPaolo in studio and after intros they did a bit of politics talk about Trump. I was expecting it to go on and on and for Ant to start pushing agendas, but it wasn't that bad like I've seen it on TACS before. Colin was hilarious as always and not before long the Goodfellas/Casino/Raging Bull quotes were flowing - it was like old O&A for a while with Colin and DiPaolo making fun of Bobo too.

Then Colin left and Gavin came in. Gavin was great from the off and brought a bit of needed energy to the show. Nick and Gavin were great together (not sure if they've met before, Nick should definitely go on Gavin's show). I honestly don't know why Ant didn't just hire Gavin as a co-host as opposed to giving him his own show - it works much better with him there to bounce things off, and he can clearly riff with comedians about stuff too, and he always has opinions on everything.

In terms of criticisms, towards the end of the show, it was flowing fine but then Ant would just look down at his sheet and say "okay, next we've got..." like he just had a list of topics that he wanted to get through. Also, I don't know what the studio audience is there for, except to show awkward shots of them when they make a joke. But, I'm sure LoS will make more use of that.

Overall, it was a pretty good show to be fair to Ant. My only worry is that - once the honeymoon period is over with this positive new Ant in his shiny new studio wears off - he will just go back to scrolling through his Twitter to recap his racial "debates" that he's been having, and then steering everything towards politics and bringing up insignificant race-related news from around the country to discuss for hours at a time, like he usually does on TACS. I guess only time will tell. If he continues to be the old, angry, sensitive curmudgeon that he has been recently on Twitter and on his show; then I'll just go back to torrenting the shows as it's all readily available if you know where to look. But, based purely on today's show, I can't have any complaints, and Ron is on tomorrow's show so I'll definitely be tuning in again.

TL;DR: an Asperger's-esque review of the "new" TACS: it was pretty good.

Okay, that's all I got, you g'ahead...

Of course the first show was great. He gives a shit! I knew the first couple of weeks will be great.

Just wait a month down the road. When he can't get good guests & a "racial tension" news story comes out

Hopefully the presence of the studio audience pressures Anthony to keep things entertaining.

I don't think he put much effort into O and A and he was pretty decent on that. I reckon the key is to have a 2nd mic or lots of regular guests so its not just old man Cumia ranting in his shed.

He had one "new" show with a guaranteed homerun guest.

Everyone has been complementing Ant on his hair like he had a sex change or sumthin

Well, it's almost as drastic of a transformation.

Pretty spot on I'd say, overall I liked it too.

My only worry is that - once the honeymoon period is over with this positive new Ant in his shiny new studio wears off - he will just go back to scrolling through his Twitter to recap his racial "debates" that he's been having, and then steering everything towards politics and bringing up insignificant race-related news from around the country to discuss for hours at a time, like he usually does

This.

I just can't see going back after just cancelling. I gave him a year and I don't see the point in hoping for something different than what is constantly delivered.

Are you kidding? It's obvious he's a completely different person now!1!

It will be telling to see how long this lasts. Let's see how much effort Ant puts in two three months from now. I do think that Ant having more guests and better comics on will improve the show.

But unless Ant gets guests every day of the week and fill his show up with them (Which is possible but a sign of the show not being that strong) then it might revert back to what it was just with better comics coming back in.

Biggest problem with Ant has been his obsession with racial topics and his laziness. The studio doesn't quite fix either.

In the same boat as you on this. I really do think the Spinning Wheel of Death show was the best O&A ever got, Bobby, Jimmy, Ant and Vos ripping the shit out of eachother, and especially Tits. Hopefully if Ant can get Jimmy and other comics in all the time they can recreate what made O&A. I still think Ant is a douche for all the doxxing stuff and acting like he didn't bomb at the roast though, hopefully the NYC studio can be a fresh start, even some of the ballwashers in the TACS subreddit were getting fed up with the constant race talk and twitter shit.

you got to get the OnA dream out of you're head, yeah you might get one of those guys once in awhile but to act like these guys will just drop everything to have a weekly reunion is crazy.

once patrice died the era was over, the only people that still kind of hang out is bobby, norton, colin, and im sure thats changed now that bobby lives in the suburbs.

I think with the NYC studio it's definitely a lot easier for Ant to get that group of comics in again, even if it's just Jimmy that's infinitely better than O&J. I really don't think it's an impossibility.

Because it's so entertaining to see a guy do 5 minutes of googling and no staff research on similar current event topics and turn that into hours of unfunny repetitive programming every week.

Of course if you simply don't find that type of lazy punditry entertaining then you are some sort of liberal namsy pamsy asshole who is brainwashed by the liberal media.

Say liberal again.

I don't care how many times I get called a ballwasher for it I will continue to contend that Ant didn't bomb at that roast. It wasn't great but it certainly wasn't a bombing.

I don't know why this bothers me so much. Maybe it's the groupthink of this sub that pisses me off.

I don't know how you can watch that set and argue any other way, even Colin Quinn said he bombed. Who do I trust? A comedian who's seen thousands of sets and performed thousands of sets, or you? You're a ballwasher, there's no groupthink here.

Like I said, it wasn't great but it definitely wasn't bomb worthy. It was mediocre. He had some good jokes amongst the shitty ones but his delivery was not good. He rushed through his set like he was trying to get through a report in elementary school. Had he taken his time it would have been better.

It was a bomb, even the comedians there commented on how bad it was afterwards, and then they changed their tune once they realised Ant was determined to proclaim it wasn't a bomb after the roast.

I honestly don't know why Ant didn't just hire Gavin as a co-host

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I thought we wanted to get away from the excessive political talking points? That'd just be the Ant & Younger But Fatter Ant Show. I like them both but no fucking way.

How can you care enough to write that much

Depends on whether he thinks Anthony can damage his career in Hollywood or not. The worm isn't taking any chances on being collateral damage!

Yeah, they should film the show in CinemaScope.

As soon as the new intro started, I immediately thought of Scorch and PFGTV. The show itself wasn't a train wreck like Scorch's show, but Ant is definitely portraying himself as this "host" character, that is distracting to say the least. I fear that the responsibility of holding this whole thing together has already neutered him and will continue him down the path of nostalgic references/hammy host performances and very little of the carefree Anthony will remain. I still have to thank TACS for turning me on to Gavin McInnes though. His show is great.

I just want to know where can I get it pirated.

ant, dipalo, gavin, wow that channel has so many different personalities, ant really knows how to get a good mix, three people with differing opinions.

He clearly needs a SJW to balance it out. Said no one ever.

He's become Scorch. Thank god.
