The Bechdel test sounds really exciting and lurid in theory, but the reality is that there are hundreds of Hollywood films that "pass" it and are well received, and have no overt feminist message.

You're right. Literally every movie that is successful in this age passes it. It doesn't hold water.

This is going back for the last hundred years. What the Bechdel test describes is a false premise. Sure there are a lot of movies where women only discuss a male protagonist. There are plenty others where there are no male leads. And even if it were a pressing issue (it isn't) it's fucking embarrassing that it's something my fellow liberals have embraced when there is so much more important and fucked up stuff happening to women, even in America. You only care about this because it strokes your ego, because American liberalism is a mess of narcissism.

I completely agree with you. It's a little off, but it still highlights how fucked up things are for women in America, and just think there should be things in place in our culture to fight for them.And then you have unthoughtful pieces of garbage like Anthony Cumia who just spread blind misogyny and when he gets called out for it acts like he is just "joking" while being completely ingnorant to the shit stereotypes he is promoting.
