I was gonna say maybe that channel is going a bit too far, but then I saw a few of the videos end with him humping a stool and yelling "dolla dolla bills, y'all" and realized it doesn't go far enough.
When Big Jay was making fun of "stool humpers" I thought it was just an exaggeration he had made up, I didnt think it was a real thing.
It's a hack bit among black comedians, I've seen at least three different black comics do a stool humping bit and the crowd went wild. Kevin Hart has a stool humping bit, for example.
haha yeah I saw someone post it in TACSdiscussion the other day making the same comparison to this sub. It might have been you. I have it bookmarked that place is a hilarious and i enjoyed reading a bunch of their threads even though i like joe rogan's podcast.
Did anyone hear DiPaulo's last appearance on Rogan? Nick was doing some light stereotype humor and the room was silent and Rogan ketp doing his "how rude (insert name)" thing. Nick called them out for being in Cali too long and getting too soft. It was kind of cringe-worthy.
Nick has a weird vibe on Rogan's podcast. The time before last he was promoting a new comedy album and he kept asking Joe to play segments from it multiple times. The segments weren't that great and it was all around awkward.
Yea, noticed that too. Kind of disappointing, Rogan seems to have forgotten how to bounce back and forth with the jokes.(riff) Always goes straight to the fake offended thing or goes off on some completely random tangent about how his friend hurt his knee working out.
There was an episode with him and Shane Smith where Shane was telling a story and setting the backdrop. Shane says something like "Joe, pretend you were at bar drinking white wine..." Joe stops him and says that he doesn't drink white wine and gives him a reason why. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GO ALONG WITH HIM.
Real stretch dude, anyone whos listened to him knows he says that in a facetious manner. If you watch him you can see him smirk often when he says that, his intonation even changes its just a filler response thats rarely literal. I see what you were going for but you were kinda way off the mark on that observation.
It's not about changing. Rogan is a comedian and can't laugh at a slight racial joke? It wasn't even a joke - Nick mentioned that he was at Hertz and noticed that none of the people there looked like they spoke english. Rogan questioned what he meant and made it uncomfortable.
He's like "You goys have been out in HOLLYWOOD too long..." It really was kind of weird how easily offended/how quick Joe had to do 'damage control' for Nick. It wasn't even just the Hertz thing, it was stuff about how things would be better if white people were in charge and a few other mildly conservative observations. (I don't disagree with him)
Joe must have said "How dare you" about 14x. He says that a lot; I like Joe but he really is kind of turning into an eggshell-y pussy these days. Guess I would too if I had a fuck ton of money coming in from sponsors, so much so that it's literally 8-10 minutes of live reads at the beginning of his show. Probably don't wanna rock that boat too bad, but on the other hand...how much of your real viewpoint are you compromising? FOR THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR, mmmMMMMAANNN!!
I do not follow Joe Rogan's comedy career but I know he got a lot of shit from people for stuff he said about Fallon Fox (transgendered MMA fighter) and saying someone's attitude was "cunty." I would imagine that has to affect you in some way.
but bill still feels like an east coast comic, sure he's not as angry as he was in his younger days but he's still got that attitude, joe has always seemed like a west coast comic and even if he's the second guy behind burr thats sad, he wouldnt crack the top 50 on the east coast.
He might feel like it, but Joe is still as east coast as Bill. They both started in Bah-ston, and I think Joe only has a few years on Billy out here.
Funny you say that, I saw Joe & Bill Burr do the Ice House last year on my birthday. Bill destroyed harder than I've ever seen a comic crush ever. Like I didn't even know that was possible. (Except the time Jay Mohr showed up to a Nerdmelt Mic & did a 12 minute set.) It could be the single funniest set of stand up I've ever seen, I never laughed so hard, like the muscles in my face hurt. Bill absolutely firebombs the place, then Joe gets up to headline and you could just feel the energy & engagement in the room drop to about 70%. Like how do you follow a set like that? It's like Megadeth following Metallica, it was pretty interesting.
2nd biggest LA comic, that's a good question. Honestly, sadly...it might be Chris D'Elia. He's the next hot shit, I think he stinks personally but people are ga ga for him. He's practically keeping the lights on at the Laugh Factory now that Dane got 86'd, the entire outside of the building is literally plastered with D'Elia signs, posters, billboards. That (douche) Jamie Masada sure isn't subtle.
I would have said Ari before that, but seems like he went back to NY.
West coast scene is so much different than the east. It is full of writer-comics that don't know how to tell a joke and are using comedy to audition for writing and acting jobs. They say shit that will get them on tv. The good east coast guys want to impress each other and be good comedians. To them, if movies or tv roles come, they come. If not they can still go out and perform. I don't think joe would be able to keep in the top 100 if he had to still come out with new creative material like the guys pulling the Boston to Chicago circuit do. Can you imagine him doing his bullshit act every night at the cellar?
He wasn't wrong though, you gotta hear it. I always love Nick on the west coast podcasts. (Also, stop saying "oof," everyone. National campaign Im starting)
You REALLY wanna lose your shit, listen to this week's episode of Greg Fitzsimmons podcast. I love that guy, but he's one of the most enragingly guilty white liberals I've ever heard. It's fucking pathetic. I wish he & Nick hosted a show together, Hannity & Colmes style.
Im sure you didn't even hear the interview, you only read what I typed. So what's the point of continuing this. (White guilt is a concept, "oof" is a noise anyone makes about pretty much anything now.)
Somebody with shoulder and rotator cuff and shoulder blade injuries shouldn't be ego lifting kettlebells of all things. His shoulders and elbows and back got trashed because he uses them like a moron.
Of course, half the YouTube comments are like, "You don't even know what it's like to do a hard workout!" Look, there is a difference between good exercise and putting yourself in the operating room and Rogan and most of his fans don't recognize it.
haha. I wish Rogan would call out that douche in the video with him. He's the founder of that snake oil company. His real name is sam or something, but he did shrooms and had an out of body experience and changed his name to aubrey.
It's actually a 19th century name that was popular for men, especially in Texas, where that huckster is from. I had a great grandfather named that. I've never seen it used for a girl, but I've seen it countless times for old men. I think you're thinking of Audrey, which is, in fact, GIRL NAME GIRL NAME!!

Yeah, I felt slightly hypocritical/ashamed when typing obsessed. If I had the time I'd be pulling clips of Ant.

Wow all these years I had no idea what "humping the stool" meant. I am a dummy.
1 Edsheeranz 2015-07-31
When did you first hear about "stool humping" first I've heard about it was from Neal brennan in his podcast . Wonder who stole it from who
2 RearNakedGrope 2015-07-31
I doubt either stole it, it's an observation about hacky black comics. I noticed it a long time ago, before I heard of either of those guys.

If you think this sub is a hate-obsessed, take a gander at r/joerogan2 some time. Makes this place look lighthearted by comparison.

I love how folks like Nick Di/AntH/their fans can't possibly wrap their minds around the fact that people's attitudes can grow and change over time.

Ah true. Is Rogan considered the biggest comedian out on the west coast right now?
3 Weirdfellas 2015-07-31
Nope. Ol Billy Redface is, hands down.
Joe's up there, but Burr is like the fucking Don Corleone of laughter out here.

Nigga please. "You've been in X too long" is what people say when they've never left home or never mentally grew out of their 4 block neighborhood.
