You have to deal with Opie on air at times.

It's a bizarre situation, so any metaphor is going to be tortured, but Opie is essentially a mediocre actor who became a decent director but still insists on casting himself. No one looks at Tarantino's performances in his movies and thinks, "Atta boy, you earned it!"

By the time Opie became worthless to the show (when the bits stopped and they had comedians coming in to shoot the shit), the brand O&A was the money maker. "Anthony Cumia" didn't carry the weight the brand did. He wouldn't have walked off with the sum of both their salaries. No, Anthony isn't stupid. Opies name was essential to the paycheck and he knew that

I absolutely appreciate creative people engaging with the fans.

I'm a huge Adventure Time fan, and that show is amazing when it comes to how much they share over the internet. They've put out character designs, storyboards, etc. before the show aired its first episode. And although it doesn't happen as often, their artists would go on 4chan and talk to or frequently fight with fans.

Jesse Moynihan is a writer and artist who put a huge stamp on the show, and made episodes that were very controversial. He'd talk shit all the time on the internet and argue with haters. He decided to stop and deleted his twitter, which sucks because it was really entertaining.

I appreciate paying attention to fans, and even communicating with them. Adventure Time, like TACS, seemed like this crazy new thing with so much potential. When it first premiered, it was a little disappointing because it wasn't EVERYTHING we expected out of it and made many missteps. But there were signs that it would carve out its own identity, and after a few years it became something really amazing.
