Anthony was a useful idiot while he was at Sirius. Now that he spends his days in his basement pointing out that NASA had no black people in the 60's and paying trolls what remains of his fortune to find information about other trolls who made fun of his mother for not being able to remember her anthology of pub men's room lumpkins Schumer couldn't want less to do with him.
I'm probably the biggest Ant supporter left around here, but that shit is just pathetic. She'll never do your show Ant, no need to pretend she's funny anymore.
Actually, I remember Ant once saying to Norton and Opie that if she weren't a comedian, she wouldn't be considered "hot." Of course, she wasn't in studio at the time.
Nah I have zero problems with her whatsoever and think her standup and show are hilarious. The main criticism seems to be that she does a lot of sex and vagina jokes. So what? Sex and vaginas are funny.
I dont hate amy at all and i thought she was ok on OnA, but how could you like her show? Ive tried watching a few episodes and didnt even crack a smile or even think "oh that was kinda clever." It just wasnt funny and i got major douche chills at some parts.
I dunno, I really enjoy her self-deprecating schtick. Did you see the one about the app for dealing with nice guys? That was one of the best sketch pieces I've seen in years.
Her show is really awkwardly split between genuinely funny bits and completely hacky bits - and sometimes a segment has a lot of both. I would guess that almost all of the quality of that show comes from Metzger's writing, and everyone else contributing is taking away from that. Listening to Metzger on WTF (which is worth a listen regardless of this point) kind of confirms it.
He talks about how that "Football Town Nights" skit originally had rape statistics listed at the end as if the point that rape is bad wasn't already being made by the skit, until he called her and told her to take that part out, which she did.
He also talks about a bit (which I didn't see) where they were mocking some boy band song about how a girl doesn't need to wear make-up. Kurt's idea was to make a parody song where the point is the girl doesn't need to wear make-up because the guy has been too busy looking at her tits that he didn't even realize she had a face, which is hilarious. But apparently one of the other writers said that idea was "insane", so instead they made a parody video where they say the girl doesn't need make-up but then when she takes it off they start to back away from her because she looks ugly. To me, that's just such an obvious joke to make. It's basically just flipping that idea from saying a girl does NOT need make-up to saying a girl DOES need make-up. Really clever. On the other hand, I thought Kurt's idea was legitimately pretty funny, and at least somewhat creative.
So part of me is kind of annoyed that that's the mindset of the writing staff on the show, but Kurt actually makes it sound like Amy has been pretty awesome to him. He says she took the rape statistics out of the bit because she's actually really reasonable about stuff like that and is willing to listen to all input on her show, and when it came to him potentially being fired for the SJW backlash over his "sexist" behavior, he confidently said something along the lines of "she just wouldn't do that, she doesn't care about what they think". It makes me think she's probably just playing the game to be as successful as she has been lately, which I find hard to criticize. I don't love or hate her or her show, but I don't think she's become the SJW some people think she has.
What you're describing is true of any writer's room on any show. I've been around the comedy scene in NYC long enough to see both of them many times, and Amy is far funnier than Kurt, and Tig Notaro is funnier than both of them. Kurt does a lot to balance it back out from being a super PC jerk off, and I think the show would suffer a lot without him. It'd be like saying Dave Chappelle and Chappelle's show isn't funny without Neal Brennan. And yeah, regarding the SJW thing - we'd all do that in her position. Anyone who wouldn't do that wouldn't reach the position she's achieved in the first place. That's the culture we're in right now and it'll pass once there is a Republican in the White House again and the left has bigger things to worry about.
Have you seen White Precious? It seems genuinely crazy to me to think Tig or Amy are funnier than Kurt. I don't dislike either of them, but I think Kurt is easily one of the top 5 funniest comedians working today, and probably #1 in regards to promising future work.
Not trying to shit on your opinion, but I don't think Amy or Tig come even close to Metzger.
I've probably seen Kurt live about two dozen times, and follow his Facebook (where he is probably at his best). Calling him one of he top five working standups is completely insane to me. Even if you only included "emerging" comics I can think of way better stand ups. Don't get me wrong, I think he's funny, but mostly as a writer.
Edit: oops - no I haven't seen White Precious. I'll watch it though.
Anthony is more hateable than Amy but less than Kindler. I'd rather OPIE give the "state of comedy speech" than that bloated Jew corpse. He looks like something you fight in The Witcher.
That's because Jimmy's a worm. Comedians are cowards, they don't criticize each other because you never know who might get a show and throw you a pity part, also it opens you up to criticism if you criticize others. The last thing the comedy industry wants is anyone speaking honestly about how unfunny most comedians are.
It's really the entire entertainment industry. I am good friends with a couple who are out in LA, and doing really well. One of them has a TV show. At this point they won't badmouth anyone who isn't already so big that they're a safe target, not even in private. They won't even make fun of Scientologists. I love these two to death, but it was eye opening.
Well, anthony always did have a stupidly short fuse like his brother. Joe better be careful, death threats like this will make him lose his gigs like his brother lost his job and now has to dance for the online KKK for money.
Do you think she's trying to get on his good side so he doesn't comment on whole mexican-are-rapists jokes? The guy is just not funny i don't see how people can get excited for him.
The only one I heard was the one last year, didn't find it funny at all, plus he's not funny on twitter. He seems angry and he talks down to people without demonstrating much creativity or wit. I'm trying to keep an open mind though.
His comedy is very...idk, "meta". Most of it is based on making fun of what standup comedy is. If you listen to a lot of standup, and are familiar with hacky standup, he can be fucking hilarious. Hes not my favorite or anything but there's a good reason hes well respected by comedians
"The Seinfeld thing was pretty much good luck. “It got that way because– and I just lucked out on it– I knew it would be the meat of it. I didn’t know how long I would do on it. Like last year I did Anthony Cumia, and I kind of felt at some point– you know I ended with all those tweets he wrote and them I’m like, well why is the crowd not laughing? Well they’re, it’s not funny. So that was like a little bit of a downer, but I kind of quickly forget every year cause you can only do the best you can. This year I felt like it all flowed so well, so the Seinfeld stuff was just perfect. And it also brought up the whole other issue of free speech.”
Is he doing an anti comedy type sets? I thought he might be at first, but then I saw some of his tweets to Sam Harris and it made me think he isn't self-aware enough for that type of comedy. Is he just trolling them or is he actually like that?
Probably a good theory. She's the biggest thing in comedy at the moment, so it would make sense for Kindler to go after her. He would never of course since she's part of the tribe, but she's hedging her bets.

When is Ant going to realize people only put up with him because he had media clout.
THEY'RE NOT YOUR FUCKING FRIENDS

I'm still taken aback by the fact that 50+ year old men "tweet".

c'mon man, schumer is 40 atleast

I'd go see Trainwreck 10 times if I was to find out she blocked him due to career advice from her publicist.
2 packitchofsositch 2015-07-26
It's getting to the point where it's a 50/50 chance whether she or her publicists even recognize his name.
In another year or two he'll be Just Another Comedy Fan.

He was on her show. Clearly they had at least a strong working relationship.

Check the date. 2013. She wasn't nearly so famous and he wasn't nearly so toxic. It will never happen again.

Ludacris was on OandA. Clearly Ant is now 'hood.'

Anthony was never featured in any of Ludicris's songs though.

No Anthony is the more hateable one in this.
That's like a dude in the friend zone trying to convince a girl not to see some guy.
