When Bennington was doing its "Trainwreck" show last week, they were talking about how one film launched a comic's superstar career ala Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey etc and they were trying to figure out who the next one would be. In all seriousness Ron said he thinks Norton is destined to have America fall in love with him and be a breakout star. Not a hint of sarcasm in his voice either and had the balls to say Jim was around same as as Rodney Dangerfield when Dangerfield broke out.

Jimmy is and always will be c-list comedian.

Acting just isn't Jimmy's strong-suit. He is great at being on the radio and cracking quick jokes. He is pretty good at doing standup (although I don't really care for most of his standup shit but it seems like a lot of people do). His acting, on the other hand, is a whole different thing. This was a major movie and they aren't going to slip a scene in if the person simply blows. Why ruin a good movie by having a guy in it that can't act at all? It just would throw off the entire flow of the movie. They tried to throw the lil guy a bone but this one was above his pay-grade.

I didn't see the movie but maybe Amy didn't want Norton to be the face of somebody her character would sleep with. She had higher standards for herself even in a make-believe movie.

Bob used to be good looking. Soder and Florentine are normal looking guys. Plus Jimmy doing even one line can be rough. He isn't very natural at all when he is acting. It's weird. Even on CK's show his parts seem so much less natural compared to the other guys who get bigger speaking parts.

One of Jim's saddest moments was when some guest was in (maybe Kevin Smith) and they were discussing Leno's audience size. Whoever it was mentioned off-the-cuff how Leno's numbers were pretty small in the grand scheme of things. Jim pushed back a little, then I think it actually dawned on him that the numbers were a fraction of who he thought he was broadcasting to ... that late-night TV wasn't what it used to be. And that even if the numbers were decent, it wasn't even his target demo ... but likely old people, half of whom are asleep in front of their TVs. It was funny and sad at the same time.

When a scene it cut it is usually because it doesn't advance the story, is redundant to some other story element, or impedes the comedic timing or pace. Sometimes it can be the actor's performance, but with enough takes this can be managed.

They sneak preview the crap out of these movies and the parts that work and parts that don't are obvious from the audience reaction.

Jimmy's part, something to do with a horse carriage, probably impeded the pace and didn't further the story of Amy and the doctor.

Amy wanted him to play a guy she meets in a bar and Jimmy insisted that he wear lipstick and a wig. After he whined about it, the character didn't work and he got cut.

Yeah....no. The picture you're referring to was from a shoot with Gervais. The scene that got cut from Trainwreck was Jimmy as a horse and carriage driver. Bill Haders character steals the carriage and Jimmy runs after him screaming.
