There's a few. Attell, Colin Quinn, Norm Macdonald, maybe Stanhope. They actually seem like good people, so even if you don't like their comedy there's no reason to hate them.
They all seem brutally self-aware and understand their shortcomings. It's a little like Eminem at the end of 8 Mile. These guys shit on themselves so much that it's difficult to say anything worse about them. The hypocritical two faced blowhard gasbags lacking any self-awareness seem to be the ones people tend to knock off their soapboxes.
He rules. Just a joke machine, and super nice. I saw him in Montreal and he stayed after the show to hang out with everyone, let everyone take pictures, and didn't leave until the crowd got really thin. He made me rethink my opinions on the jews
the best one ive seen in awhile, such a great concept too. he's one of those comics that can talk about the dirtiest shit but it doesnt seem forced and trying hard to be edgy.
Big Jay has a great story that's really telling of Dave as a person. Basically said that one day out of the blue he just said that he quit drinking and Jay says he just never saw him do it or bring it up again. A lot of people in comedy say that Attell is very introverted and keeps to himself, but that's he's a really dark individual. I find shit like this fascinating
Nope, there was a period of time in 2013 where he was appearing on the show alot to promote Comedy Underground and other stuff and people here were saying he's boring.
Yeah, not Dave's fault. What is he supposed to do when he walks into a show that is in full on rage mode at black people/gun laws/taxes/Twitter haters?
Attell, Patrice, Colin and Stanhope = the mount rushmore of stand-up comedy for the past 15 years as far as I'm concerned. Honorable mentions to Norm, Chappelle, and Bill Burr though.
Is this a Mt Rushmore of good comedy or good guys that do comedy? Because if it is for good comedy I wouldn't even let Stanhope work at the park. He can sell fireworks and dreamcatchers with the injuns down the road at Lil Jimmy Norton's Tell Me I'm Smart Emporium.
I've liked when he's in. Good chemistry and doesn't try to put on a show. Just a naturally funny dude who puts on a good show.
When I hear him on the xm comedy stations I don't like him as much because his jokes seem to flow a lot better when they're in a show and not spliced out. Never saw him live but you can tell he puts on a good show.
I've seen him when Norton did the Anti-Social tour with Artie/Stanhope/Amy/Florentine/etc. Everyone was great but Attell was the best out of all of them both times.
The sad, bitter people on this subreddit will find a way to "hate" anyone.
But they don't really hate them, it just gives them emotional catharsis and escape from the frustrations and disappointments of their boring, empty life.
I've actually hung out with him twice. first time I got roasted by him and Jeff Ross at the cellar. hung out after, he ended up fucking my friend for a while. he bought me a drink both times. class act.
New York is really expensive, so I've only stayed there once.
My employer sent me there for a week long project.
I only had one night to see the city, so I went to The Comedy Cellar, because I'd heard about it on Opie & Anthony.
I saw Dave Attel out front, smoking a cigarette, and was starstruck. I tried to say hello but he was a complete dick. I went to see his show, and he made fun of me.
In hindsight, he was just busting my balls.
But it basically ruined my only trip to new York city.

He's laugh out loud funny and I watched him drink out of a paper bag for like 10 years on TV.
Attell is great.

Don't ever compare those great men to a middle aged wigger again.

CQ and Norm Macdonald are saints.

Yeah, I've never been blown away by Attell's standup, but he just seems like a decent guy who is true to his work.
1 VeritablyClean 2015-07-22
he's a classic joke guy. I think today's comedy is really different but Attell is just a totally different style

Skanks for the memories is probably the best comedy album to come out in the past 20 years.

Literally the funniest dude alive. Very humble too. Just loves comedy. No ego

CQ will always be #1. Dave Attell a close second.

CQ can do no wrong.

One of the best! He does severe alcoholism right.
5 19headaches 2015-07-22
I believe he actually quit drinking
7 dj_dad_dick 2015-07-22
he did. For severe abusers see: stanhope

When the hell did this happen? He was still drinking in his last special from like a year ago.

He is on Barry Katz's podcast this week. It's a good interview and he talks about it. Basically saw too many friends die.
1 dirtyernie23 2015-07-22
Who dies from drinking? Fucking lightweights.

It was 7 am and the show kinda sucked in 2013. I blame the environment and the situation more than Dave.

Dave's old porn should have been given more episodes.

Dave Attell once said that he looks like a typical Russian guy, when really he looks like a rabbi.
1 NashuaDan 2015-07-22
Hilarious comedian but a little odd in real life.
1 opieanthonyjim 2015-07-22
Him and Colin.
1 Weirdfellas 2015-07-22
Attell buys people in the audience drinks from the stage with his own money. That certainly goes a long way.

How was he a dick? What'd he say to make fun of you? You're being downvoted by a few cunts, this sounds interesting. Who else was at the cellar?
-16 telepepper 2015-07-22
I don't like him. I think he's massively over-rated. But what the fuck do i know..
*fuckin ass suckin, cock kissin attell fags. Eat my balls.
