At that time, Daniel Tosh had a 20 million dollar contract(spread out over the span of 5-7 years) with Comedy Central. The man had to apologize, or he'd run the risk of being railroaded out of it. Same thing with Amy. It's already harder for women in the biz to begin with, and she's rising to the top, EVEN THOUGH her material is based around a lot of late-90's sex/race observational "edgy-ness". She was able to get(or trick) the same crowd that fawns over/worships Hannibal Buress and Broad City. She's locked in for a big contract with same said network. She was able to convince half those folks into loving her, and SKATE past the other half who would damn her(her being a woman, she's eligible for some impunity).

She did that successfully until this year however. Cause in this climate, male of female; IF YOU'RE WHITE AND SUCCESSFUL IN COMEDY, YOU WILL BE CALLED INTO QUESTION. That's just how it is, and she's learning that now, gradually. I think Opie, Anthony and Jimmy get that, and I think out of their own loyalty to her, they probably see it as a "you gotta do what you gotta do" situation. Which it is. Jimmy's lack of real relevance and insightfulness is what's held him back career-wise, and what probably makes him so insecure and needy(hence Wormy). Opie is dogshit as a person and personality, but he knew how to work the system, and he knows how to lie to Ant and Jimmy and fans in general(hence the delusional titty-ness). Ant's racism and lack of ambition put him in the spot he's in now(a floundering show on what could potentially be a fruitful endeavor). These guys are all fucked in their own right, so if they took the attitude of "Fuck the SJW's Amy! Fight back!", she'd be right where they are, instead of right where she should be. I think, through their collective delusions, they understand that somehow. Which is why they're sticking up for her statement. They did the same for Tosh; they get it.
