Opie and Anthony had their place and their audience, but compared to Stern they're both pieces of dogshit in the hot sun, with one of them being a self-destructive asshole who ruined everything for everybody.
I bet Stern enjoys how low Anthony has sunk nowadays.
It's kinda sad that they copied the wack pack and tried to make east side dave be their richard and sal. Both attempts were lackluster though compared to stern.
When Howard was leaving terrestrial, Opie started the chant "Howard's a hack who couldn't adapt". When they got to terrestrial they were really going to prove themselves.
the terrestrial k-Rock show was the worst show O&A ever did (O&J is worse now though). They promised the satellite listeners that they would have better guests, they would figure out the way longer commercial breaks, they would have more fun with a broad audience (as in in-studio stunts & funnier wack-os on the phone) & that they are funnier anyway when they can't curse. It was all bullshit.
Do you people even remember? On satellite, during commercials they just played horribley edited "best of" snippets. The content was an entertainment news/YouTube video review show since they couldn't talk about anything. No noticeably better guests & no memorable bits cuz of a non-exclusive audience. Even Norton admitted that it sucked years later.
So, back to "Howard is a hack who couldn't adapt". That's what Opie said. & then he fails on regular radio. He gave every excuse in the book & defended that show. But it was terrible & a failure. Opie is the true hack who couldn't adapt
Howard is at his best when he's mean & vindictive : "I know they were going to kick our asses but now it's going to hard to do from not having a terrestrial station..." Plus Artie sounds high in this clip. Great era for both shows.
As a used to be long stern listener i can honestly say i havnt laughed as much as i have going over old opie and anthony shows. When artie left stern the show became shite and it saddens me i never found o&a sooner. EVERY opie and anthony show ive laughed my balls off 100%
Ok I might get hated for this but Im 23, got into OnA a while ago but was not listening or aware of them at this time of their career, Ive heard OnA and some comics claim alot, I know Stern attacked them a bit, but does anybody know if OnA ever was actually big enough to fuck with stern?
