I kind of always suspected that the show would just fizzle out and end with both guys hating one another. I just thought the show would last longer than it did and just gradually get worse ala Stern.
It really did end about as terribly as one could imagine. Not only are they both so irrelevant and under the radar that they might as well be mole people, Opie almost immediately reverted back to his spinnin' the hits radio DJ shit that was bred into him years ago and was pretty much giddy the day they came back after Anthony's firing. Opie basically went into his default mode because its all he has. Anthony, on the other hand, is imploding at a hilarious rate and is becoming more like Howard Hughes with each passing day. I didn't think he would be stupid enough to say stuff on Twitter that he knew woukd get him fired considering how much time they spent talking about that very thing, and yet here we are - a handful of insane racist Twitter rants later and Anthony is doing a paid version of Live from the Compound for a handful of forever alone dick riders and Hitler enthusiasts. I'm not sure how someone could be that fucking stupid - he either wanted to get fired from the easiest job in the world or he is legitimately insane. You tell me which it is.
All in all, what a fucking embarrassment the past year has been. Everyone who was ever involved in this shit show should be fucking ashamed. They're everything they hated and ranted about for years on end.

To be fair, that cronut shit was fucking infuriating. I had basically stopped listening already because of shit like that, not to mention just the general laziness of everyone on the show. Listening to overpaid primadonnas talk about eclectic New York delicacies for hours on and and then eat said stuff on their air is unforgivable Regis and Kathy level shit. It was already obnoxious enough when you could clearly hear them munching and smacking their fucking lips while they were eating breakfast on air, since I guess it's too hard to not eat fucking food in between the four hours a day you work.
Regarding Ant being stupid or insane for the Twitter rant that led to his firing, I think it's anger. When you're in the throes of white-hot rage, you don't think properly. You don't think, "Oh, I probably shouldn't tweet all this shit out." You act impulsively. Obviously, it was a dumb move, but the key ingredient here is Ant's anger problems.
