If you are still listening to "opie radio" can you explain to me how?
21 2015-06-28 by Dwman113
I have been a listener since "new" days and I listened to 90% of O&A show for years and years.
However at this point i find the show revulting. The O&J show is more like listening to the view than it is O&A show of the past.
Can somebody explain to me how they are still finding it interesting radio? I really am at a lose to understand how anybody finds it funny or interesting....
I really want to like it! I just can't.... I have tried....

ME: It's automated, you fffuck! I don't even know about it. You keep bringing it up because you want to push the hater agenda.

Agreed! I wish I came up with the name first too

Look, I'm not of the Cumia brand of social paradigms, but your English is shitty enough that I don't feel the need to even acknowledge that you exist.

It's still humorous, chip makes an occasional appearance, the amount of information I learn with each show grows and grows as the hosts/guests dispense whatever knoedge they've acquired since the last show with regards to pop culture/history/current events, it not only passes the time but is a continuation of the classic opie and Anthony show and thus in a way a new season of a soap opera that is impossible to quit at this point because the characters have evolved into well-known neighbors whose stories and quips you want to hear on a daily basis, even if those stories and quips have evolved to a relatively milder form compared to earlier seasons of the soap opera.
16 Dwman113 2015-06-28
That is what the show always was, but Anthony brought apparently more to the show than I would have thought.
How do you make it through when opie starts talking about the same documentary for the 100th time or sherrod lets us know he is black for the 1000th time. They can't even have any kind of intellectual guest now because Opie and Jimmy have zero common knowledge.
So its just turned into the same show day after day which is Opie and Jimmy commenting on the news through there rich uneducated point of view.
Once Sam left I am finding it difficult to listen to.

I'll explain it this way: you ever see that movie "Hook", directed by Steven Spielberg? It's the perfect analogy as to how I, and I assume most people, feel about the current state of the once-great Opie and Anthony show. The movie stars robin Williams as Peter banning, who is actually Peter Pan grown up as a adult. He can't remember what it was like to live in never never land, he doesn't remember Captain Hook, in fact he can't remember anything before the age of 12. Peter is a neglectful, somewhat dismissive father and his wife points out constantly that he is missing his children's precious childhood. Eventually Captain Hook shows up and kidnaps his two kids and Peter must journey to never never land, with the help of tinkerbell (played by Julia Roberts). He trains with the lost boys and has to re-learn everything he used to know as a young Peter Pan, all with the intention of fighting Captain Hook and rescuing his kids.

You are completely out of your mind. Also if you want to laugh and maybe learn something, you should listen to Bennington. Opie has very little knowledge of anything. I honestly can't think of one thing I've learned from O&J.
6 Lasagna_Hat 2015-06-28
I figured most OpieRaqio listeners were mentally unstable. Apparently, I was correct

This reminds me of Donald Rumsfeld going on a weird tangent of New York waiters when Louis CK asked him if he's a Lizard.
1 Ken__Fresno 2015-06-28
Louie hypothesizing that it was because the lizard hit the wrong button on his human-Rumsfeld soundboard was fucking hilarious

Really thought you had something there didn't you? Why did you feel you had to tell us the actors who played the characters? What the hell has that got to do with your analogy? I honestly think you just cut and pasted a review from Amazon. Silly goose.
2 maynardsabeast 2015-06-28
Lol he didn't even wrap it up and explain the analogy. He just explained the movie and I'm still sitting here trying to figure out what that has to do with anything

I'm convinced for almost everyone it's force of habit (presets, lack of other options, bookmarks).
But whats much worse is that many have been lulled into mediocrity. You just don't realize it. It happens so gradually and soon you don't realize its just a mediocrity of old music and the same jokes and paint-by-numbers formatting droning in the background noise.
Imagine this: You never heard of OpieRadio feat.Jimmy and it was a new show. Imagine you heard any episode the last few months as your FIRST episode? - I honestly believe 95% of the people here wouldn't even remember it, care or even remember the name of the show or think to comment on it.
If there was a great guest maybe. If you lucked out on a few where guests have done well maybe. Otherwise nobody would care much for that.
Maybe we'd think "this new show is lame BUT it has a lot of potential if it can keep improving and get a Patrice, a Bobo, an Anthony .... maybe they can be a hit" and in a way that would really say something.

It's simply better than anything else out there to listen to. I listen to a bunch of podcasts but I have my headphones on 10 hours a day while I'm working. The show is still entertaining. Jimmys still funny and they get good guests. It's not as good as it was, and then losing Sam was a big loss too, but it's still better than most
1 Anarox 2015-06-28
I am going through the legion of skanks podcast. Each episode is entertaining enough to keep me listening.
1 maynardsabeast 2015-06-28
They're okay. Gomez gets on my nerves and talks way too much. I like Racewars way more
1 Anarox 2015-06-28
I actually think Dave is the most boring one, he cuts everyone off and always seem kinda sensitive. Jay and Gomez has the best chemistry, Dave is good at comming up with scenarios for joke set ups, but fuck he is always interupting
4 TibetanLesbian 2015-06-28
Tss. I listen with my muddah. My muddah loves Gregg Yughes and his yumor. She says 'Chippah this morning zoo show is fukkin hilarious. They're like hacks or sumpthin'. I don't know. I'm just riffin'. Tss.
3 PacinosWig 2015-06-28
Because I don't hate it that much as background noise while I do other shit. Some days the show is awful so I turn it off, but most of the time it's good enough. Not O&A good, but good enough.
3 kramer0419 2015-06-28
I still listen at while I work. It's mostly background noise at this point but I don't get as annoyed at opie as a lot of the people here. I don't love him or find him funny, he's just whatever at this point. I listen to about half the shows now a days. Depending on who's on and which comics. I can't listen to florentine or Sherrod so those eps are out unless it's a great guest in studio then I'll skip through the show a bit.
2 BeerCanThick 2015-06-28
Purely for Jim Norton and guests. That being said, I only listen to potentially interesting clips off YouTube now. I don't listen live and I haven't heard a start to finish show since Artie/Bobby.
It's odd how I would never miss a minute, now I oftentimes skip full shows and rarely hear the majority of the ones I listen to.
ProTip for those who wish to suffer: If you still want to listen, you can skip the first hour of the show usually. It is tired, old nonsense and has heinous music and movies talk breaks.

It's the view but they just super-glued a few peckas over their holes. Jim knows a good supply.
1 tar_baby33 2015-06-28
Habit and for Norton...but the last few weeks was the first time in almost a year I listened to more TACS network for LoS and Gavin.
1 That70smoke 2015-06-28
It's just background noise while I smoke and play ps4.
1 TheTacsMan 2015-06-28
Because it's not THAT bad. Jimmy is funny. I like a lot of the comedians and guests are interesting....and you never know what gem you'll get from the Opster to run here and be a hero for an hour.
1 RacistPigeon 2015-06-28
The Opster should become an hero.
1 UncPa57yrzyng 2015-06-28
It's honestly a sad shell of what it once was. I turn it on and try to listen once or twice a month but then I just get depressed remembering how good it was and what it is now. Kinda like remembering the old Ninja Turtles movie from when you were a kid and then watching the shitty Michael Bay one. Like it's just bad and it's depressing that this show that was once like nothing else is now pretty much just like everything else.
1 Pale_Pen15 2015-06-28
I needed something to listen to at work but now that I'm unemployed I haven't listened in like 2 months
From what I hear I dodged the Stangel bullet so that's good
1 fart_yourself_awake 2015-06-28
Anthonys show is just bad. Opies show is so bad it's good.
1 RacistPigeon 2015-06-28
I tried, holding out some hope that they would continue to do...something. But I cancelled my SXM sub (again) a couple of months ago. Just couldn't handle it. This time I had the sense to remove my SXM unit from the truck, and replaced it with a little cigar humidor. Much more entertaining than Opie.
1 Pacman999 2015-06-28
Why do you need to understand what other people listen to? Just find a show you like and move on.
1 rottenseed 2015-06-28
Sometimes it's better than nothing?
1 bluedevils76 2015-06-28
I tried to listen again this week but couldn't deal with that fool Opie. After the 5th time he added "the" in front of words needlessly I had to check out. "I love the Rich Vos," and so on, 20 times a show. His voice makes me cringe.
0 hookahreed 2015-06-28
Because there's a #Bennington replay at 11pm.
0 dudemarama 2015-06-28
Meh, i woke up around noon anyway, i only listened to Sam's show lately and i just realized that i didn't even miss the O&J show, to me that speaks volume.
0 Spork2000 2015-06-28
Why do you care? Stop listening then.
-1 mr__hat 2015-06-28
Stop reading this sub. I stopped reading this shit for months and I found myself enjoying the show way more.
It's a slower, less exciting, less vicious, relaxed-opie, some-days-i-give-a-shit-some-days-i-dont-jimmy version of the old O&A show. It's different but not that different.
My biggest issue with the show is that it tends to be boring. There are very few surprises.
EDIT: Also, what /u/glennhalibot said
9 Dwman113 2015-06-28
The boring part is exactly what I am talking about... It's excruciating... and it just seems like the same show over and over and over day after day with no surprises....
Of course it has funny parts but I can't listen to 4 hours of show for 20 minutes of hilariousness.
I want to like it!
-1 Patmcpsu 2015-06-28
Pure laziness. OpieRadio is already a preset on my car's radio, and my car doesn't have phone connectivity, so listening to podcasts is basically impossible.
-1 stinkskc 2015-06-28
you're so lazy you can't change this station? you can listen to podcasts on your phone speaker or put on headphone in. you're fucking stupid.
5 I_Hate_Knickers 2015-06-28
Wooooah, steady big fella!
1 Patmcpsu 2015-06-28
What other stations would you recommend during AM/PM drive? It's illegal to use headphones while driving; nice try with the hate tho.
0 stinkskc 2015-06-28
nah u can wear one
