I havent but i remembered really liking it last time i saw it years ago. It wasnt that funny and could have lost prob 20 mins, but i thought it worked really well as a dramtic flick and i remeb when it came out thinking Kevin could possibly make really great dramatic/comedic films in the future. I was wrong.
Really odd film, made as if it didn't understand the standard (and often proven) rules of storytelling. Not bad but so strange in parts. Smith has always been an odd duck. He's so on the money when he talks film knowledge and history, he completely gets irony and implication in theory but when you actually watch his films it's as if they were made by an amazingfilm student surrounded by a crew the same age as him every time. It's very frustrating coz I feel like I should like his movies so much more than I actually do but there's just something missing from all of them :(
I liked it a lot and other people must have enjoyed it too. Got an 8/10 on cinema blend. 6.2/10 on IMDB and 58% on RT. That's certainly better than nearly unwatchable.
Chasing Amy is fucking terrible. I had been wanting to watch it since the late 90's and when I finally took time and watched it on Netflix I have never been more disappointed. It's beyond dated, it couldn't have been good even during the rad 90's. Terrible and borderline, if not outright, ignorant. Fucking abysmal 90's pop soundtrack and the actors and cinematography blow.
I dont know man, i REALLY related to that movie. Take out the comic books (although i thought that was really cool to explore the relationship between corperate/sellout, strait/gay), i know that girl. I know those two guys. Every single minute detail about their personalities. Idk if its how close small town Jersey and Small town Mass. are, but that movie really seemed like a slice of my hometown, and i didnt even go to school in the 90's, went in the 00's.
I dont know that much about the technical aspects of directing/cinemetagrophy but it being a peephole into the 90s is a plus in my book. It reeks of 96/97 and thats a good thing. That and Kevin Smith has always been known for writing realistic, funny dialogue. Which that whole movie is nothing but, Jason Lee really shines.
You live in the most contrived place on planet earth. I found the characters to be unrealistic as hell. Maybe my small town lesbians aren't flighty lipstick/weekend lesbeans.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was pretty good. Everything else went to shit after that.

Felt like he was trying too hard to make a respected strange movie. Dialogue and acting was pretty terrible.

No it wasn't, it was near unwatchable. Felt obligated to get through it though because it had a go at the Westboro nutters

He joined the illuminate. That's what happens. Life extension and weight reduction. Read the Encyclopaedia Britannica before 1850.
tldr: Maybe he'll sit down on chairs now, unlike the awkward Joe Rogan podcast that time when he just stood up for like 3 hours.
