Opie's Condition

Has Opie ever admitted on air to being autistic? I remember him mentioning seeing a psychologist but that's about it.

He was diagnosed with Irritable Down Syndrome.

I am silently cracking up at work. It was "Irritable Depression (look it up, it's a real thing)"

Gynecomastia.

he has explosive depression or something that makes him an asshole

Irritable depression. It isn't in the DSM-5 because its a pop culture diagnosis for cunty rich housewives. Opie said he is getting "better" from that, with the implication that Anthony was the irritant that made him act like a cunty housewife.

He did more than imply. He said flat-out, "the frustration has left my life". I know it made a lot of people back off - at least temporarily - but I never hated Opie more than during his crying session. I actually liked him more as a jealous control freak than a blubbering clingy basketcase.

Opie is like straight from a mid-2000 Louis CK bit with this shit.

http://www.elementsbehavioralhealth.com/depression/irritable-depression-when-sadness-feels-like-anger/ one of the symptoms is thoughts of suicide so I really hope its the right one.

Yes, it was some bullshit-y diagnosis that I could find absolutely zero reference to on the interwebs.
I remember trying to research it after he was talking about it.

I know it's fun to bash Opie, but he isn't any worse than half the people I meet in everyday life. Most people aren't creative, aren't interesting, and aren't cultured. Opie is just a mediocre person that fits in with the rest of the dullards that make up most of the world.
16 Patmcpsu 2015-06-24
To be fair though, most of these dullards don't live in $6 million condos.

It's Lynsi and Bam's apartment. I'm sure Opie is afraid of the day they will ask him to move out. When that day comes you know the Opester will still pay the rent. He will always need to keep the illusion that all is well in paradise.

Most people don't win the lottery either, literal or figurative.
10 -Palaver 2015-06-24
He's like a lottery winner who has a cocky attitude and acts like he earned it.
0 NoirMagieGateau 2015-06-24
A lot of lottery winner's probably have a shitty attitude. "Man, I just KNEW that was the winning ticket/numbers".

Those assholes you, I, and we meet every day are not making millions to be that way.
Dr. Steve is a monotone fuck, but he manages to put on a better show than Opie hands down.
Pay fucking Steve, fuck it give him the morning slot. Steve and Bennington!
2 NoirMagieGateau 2015-06-24
Dr. Steve also has an interesting backstory, likes obscure music and worked his ass off to get where he is. Dr. Steve isn't Opie, and isn't an average Joe. He just isn't exciting to listen to. Opie isn't paid millions because of himself, he is getting paid because he got lucky with Anthony and Jimmy. If Anthony turned out to be a dud, there wouldn't be Jimmy on the show, and O&A would be broken up years ago and doing small market radio.

Doctor Steve is the man

Macromastia is all he's confirmed to have I think.
3 unclepaul84 2015-06-24
That's right. He should embrace the condition and consider transitioning. It could be his last desperate attempt to save his floundering career.
6 AntsCamera 2015-06-24
Repressed homosexuality and meglomania.
He is in good company, Alexander the great had the same thing, except he did something that people will always remember, unlike the slothy titster.

At least twice he said he thinks he has legitimate brain damage because his parents burned their garbage inside the house, and there was plastic and everything else in it. Of course, that could just be Dr. Opie finding a more direct way to blame his stupidity on his parents than the random mixing of genes.
4 panjshirlion 2015-06-24
I do remember him saying that on two different occasions. I remember his phrasing being bizarrely matter-of-fact, "(describes his mother's garbage burning) I wonder if that's where my brain damage comes from."
1 packitchofsositch 2015-06-24
Yeah, the first time was around 05-06. The second was around 2011. I remember it was a long stretch between them, and when he brought it up again I thought "oh good, I'm not crazy".
I'm still waiting for Ant to admit in all level-headed, unjoking seriousness that he's firmly in favor of segregation, like he used to do frequently.
3 hautebird 2015-06-24
The level of incorrect self-diagnosis on that show is impressive.
3 kevin121312 2015-06-24
There is no way he's autistic. Autistic people are good at least one thing and he's not good at anything. He's just a slow adult who says that he's autistic because it's better than saying that he's on the same level as Bobo.
6 BeerCanThick 2015-06-24
usually, but some autistic people just suck at everything, like some people without it just suck at everything.
4 BoardroomBimmy 2015-06-24
Opie IS good at something. He manages to keep staying in the radio business and making more and more money despite being socially retarded and having no self-awareness.
Autistic people aren't all necessarily good at one thing. That's an idiot savant. They're just unable to process social norms, interact with people on a normal level and often lack so much awareness of their surroundings that they just imitate natural human reactions, because they aren't able to form reactions of their own. All of this checks out for Opie.

Did you hear the baby TRY and fail at shoehorning in his issue with the Greyhound bus the other day when talking about the escaped convicts?
Jim Florentine was in studio again, ugh. I won't even go see his standup again, I am sick of him. Oversaturated to the point of disgust.
The bit was about how to get out of the area as a convict. Opie REALLY tried to get someone to bit eon his mention of how horrid the Greyhound is. No kidding dude, that was going to be your hacky observation?

He's balding Helen Hunt!
2 shimrra 2015-06-24
He has mentioned his mother having this "me me me" condition, I guess it must be hereditary.

Fuck I thought he had cancer.
0 DildoBaggins75 2015-06-24
He was born without a humerus bone. It's a tragic deformity.
