Preface: I don't hate or dislike Jim.

BUT

Wanna-be intellectual. He wants people to think he is, and has all the trappings of it, like the chess thing, the Time articles, etc. He desperately wants to be George Carlin, and respected and looked up to like Carlin. The problem is, he doesn't have the depth of knowledge of the human condition George did, the creativity, and the morals and ethics of George to filter things through - Jim just rants without really understanding the issue or having a real stance on the matter at a personal level. Remember, he's a liquid that fits the shape of the room he's in. Back when I still used to listen, or when he was on Rogan, I called it his "Carlin voice" - it's like a switch being flicked, he goes into this fake reflective, oh-so-knowledgeable tone...but what he's saying is white noise.

He's wrapped too tight to be the kind of person he wants to be. He has no interest about the world outside of his tiny bubble of sexual addiction, Kiss colllectibles and autographs. He doesn't seek new information or experiences - remember, he won't go to Europe. Even if he flops there, as a comic - YOU GET TO FUCKING SEE EUROPE. You know, new perspectives, knowledge, experience.

The great comics - George, Louis, Lewis, etc - their comedy comes from living lives out in the world, and commenting on it. That's what great comedy is - commenting on the funny parts of the human condition. Jim? He comments on what he thinks is going on out there, because he refuses to engage with it. He's a wanna be. He doesn't rant and lecture because he believes what he's saying, he does it because he thinks he's earned the right, and there's a microphone in front of him.

That's why going up against Penn would be a disaster - Penn isn't book smart, but he has a very, very high IQ, and has an enormous interest and appetite for new experiences and knowledge, and is rock solid in his beliefs and ethics and morals, and can filter a topic through his life and self and lay down a talk about it that's interesting - and that he believes himself. He does it all the time on his own podcast. Jimmy wouldn't stand a chance.

the problem with jimmy is one i used to have when i was a kid: he has a high IQ is very intelligent and quick(just listen to his comedic speed), But he is used to his IQ carrying him when he doesnt know facts. so when he tries to out think something or someone that he comes off as an idiot because he doesnt have any hard evidence to back up his points only his opinion
