Thanks, Figured it might have been Pride. Pride was nuts, no drug policy (Steroids were encouraged) and they were so willing to put on these gimmick fights.
Probably going to be a long ass time before we ever see a Pride type promotion if ever (Maybe China or some crazy ass country will put on some crazy fights).
I remember on one of his appearances they were talking about MMA and they watched a fight on youtube where some big black guy fought some slavic dude. They said he looked like Patrice as well(black dude that is ofc). However it could be same guy idk.

What type of promotion put on this fight? Was it some sort of Pride fighting knock off (Pride put on all sorts of weird fights)?

It was Pride. The sumo guy also fought Kevin Hackney in an early UFC event. Hackney beat the shit out of him, but broke his hand on his melon head.
